I appreciate everything Jim did for our defense. He completely flipped us from where we were. If the life behind the scenes was that bad I respect it even more that he never let it affect the play in the field and kept the defense focused on the main task. He completed the mission then left us better than he found us.

Knowles to PSU is weird from PSU standpoint. Defense wasn’t an issue for them, it’s their offense. Weird way to spend their money.

I agree completely, and would also never refuse Knowles if he wants to be part of the team. Not a PSU fan. They still have work to do.

Mario causes losses with horrible in-game decisions. He is great at talent acquisition, but is the worst in-game coach ya’ll are discussing.

Even if Knowles to PSU is neutral for their D it's a net negative to OSU... which is a positive to UM/PSU/ORE

The biggest plus of Penn State hiring Jim Knowles is it means the alum is finally willing to support Franklin.

group format could be pretty cool. have the top 30, drop the bottom 5 and take the top 5 from the next 30 every year, and so on. idk how you schedule that since cfb schedules are made pretty far in advance.

Bowden was a very good recruiting coordinator. High energy, tireless worker, creative etc. Bowden is not a exceptional GM, and ND wasn’t mad to let him go, especially at that price.

Dan Lanning doesn't deserve to be short-changed for doing something that Oregon as a program is synonymous with. High expectations with early season dominance followed by eating absolute shit in a scenario that eliminates them from title contention. Lanning isn't the problem. As insane as it sounds, I think removing Phil Knight from Oregon would be a drastic monetary hit, but it would be a net positive for the culture of that program.

How do you do this professionally and not understand that the money that pays coaches and the money that pays players are completely separated. You can’t save money on coaches and spend it on players lol

High level coaches always fight, ask Saban. Three years was average for his coordinators. Knowles got his feelings hurt? don't let the door hit ya! Osu offense will kick his but on Nov. 1.

Seems PSU has always had very good
Defensively their problem of late has been
Offensive line which is better but their
Wide receivers have been below average.
    Need new wide receiver coach

I mean sure but Penn St is never gonna win a title with Franklin at the helm. They may have been in the playoff but they never had a chance. Love how every year it's "oh boy Penn St is really gonna do it now!"

Knowles did not fit in with the other coaches and was not coming back to OSU regardless of the money. He got smacked down by Ryan Day after the horrible defensive performance in the first Oregon game and his ego never recovered.

It really seems like LJ had the ego and got put in his place as a position coach, not DC after Oregon. The scheme after Oregon was more Ok State Knowles and way better and difficult to read than they had been pre Oregon and all rumors said LJ resisted changing DL rotations and alignment

You talking heads miss the point on EVERYTHING! Head Coaches often show you what you need to see & you Ignore it! Jim Harbaugh the past 4 seasons. DC Mike McDonald now HC in Seattle.
His successor Jesse Minter led Michigan to a Natty, went with Harbaugh’s to LAC & gave up the fewest point in the NFL in 2024!
Harbaugh tapped Sherrone Moore to succeed him in Ann Arbor.
Had early struggles, figured things, kept their outstanding culture in place, bumped up their NIL game to defcon level, had the Big 10’s best winter portal class, & a top ten ‘25 recruiting class! Considering the ‘25 schedule & returning production, Moore is primed to make a run! Everything they have going on is SUSTAINABLE!
    GO BLUE!!

if you're going to have contracts and potentially a union for collective bargaining then will they remove the requiremnet that the players be students? Why keep that? The College football game / league/ conference is no longer what it once was - our school versus your school. As you say, allegiance is gone, connection to fans limited. Consider some of these teams (i don't know but I have seen) after games, the players face their supporters and sing a song or do some traditional activity, when the team is comprised of a bunch of free agents A) How do the new guys know the words to the songs and B) does the tradition have any meaning - hail to the "whatever" is really "hail to whoever paid me the most to come here" or "Hail to the this my best opportunity to win a championship" or "hail to the this place maximizes my darft stock". There is nothing wrong with a football minor leagues sure but pretending it is school versus and that there is some kind of school pride involved is quickly becoming more and more pointless.

No doubt the glaze was on fire hose status for Dan Lanning. Who when you look at his resume hasn't done anything Lincoln Riley didn't do at OU. Riley also beat Ohio State but did it on the road. Riley won his confrence. Expect Riley lost in OT to a great UGA team and Oregon was down 34-0.

@@Hockeywizard5577 bro. Way more than 1 bad play. OSU, Oregon and notre dame was your gauntlet to silence any critics. You failed at all 3. Your pathway was very simple. Penn state is not an elite team until you start beating elite teams.!

@@tavianthomas4402what is your evidence that it’s not a stretch? What is your signature win the past 10 years that would say Penn state is someone to fear when you play them? Not one game. While I don’t fault Penn state for the easy schedule but SMU and Boise state is not that signature win. You were awarded the easy stretch for doing what? Losing to Oregon and OSU?

@@Vern-ht3pktotally agree! They would’ve been knocked out in the first round if they played anyone else, but the cupcake path they had. Jim Knowles changes nothing for Penn State. They’ve always had a really good defense. It’s their offense that is horrible. It was the worst $3.1 million Penn State ever spent. They need offensive help not defensive help!
