I loved this version of Dracula! Romantic and the outstanding scenery. I bought it years ago and it remains part of my cherished collection!❤ Langella and Nelligan were brilliant!
I always loved this version of Dracula even better then Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 version Frank Langella was perfect as Dracula he brought a romantic touch to the role
Met frank briefly on the corner of 58th and 1st ave in NYC in 2001, when I stooped hijm to tell him that he was the best Zorro I've ever watched, and, while trying to haul a cab in rush hour, he spoke to me and was, of course, the gentleman i expected him to be
This was originally produced/ released to mark the then 25th anniversary of the 1979 version Now 20 years on (January 17th 2024) this big budget remake now marks its 45th anniversary A very interesting reinterpretation of Bram Stoker’s story with some references to the Hamilton Deane/ John L Balderston play based on the book.
Lovely version of Stoker's tale but John Badham's recent desaturation of the movie's colour palette has killed it stone dead I think. It's dulled the power of the movie.
I fully agree - the development of the relationship between Dracula and Jonathan Harker is completely gone, as is Mina’s travels to nurse Jonathan back to health. I also didn’t care for changing Mina to Seward’s daughter or the change to Lucy - in the novel, Lucy is proposed to by three suitors - one of whom is Dr. Seward. The decisions do condense the plot to a convenient three act play, and allow Dracula to be played more as a sympathetic gothic hero… One thing is for certain for me - Frank Langella’s interpretation of Dracula is my favorite of all. (I would have liked to have seen the Raul Julia performances on Broadway, however, as well as Jeremy Brett’s.)
Bizarrely underrated film.Possibly in the top 5 creepiest films ever, along with alien, the thing,Salem's lot,let me in.

Lugosi said the same thing, "If you want to get with a girl, bring her to my play/movie!"
I was fortunate to see the live show in New York with my boyfriend at the time.
He was the sexiest above all. And his movie was really really sexy.

The only thing disappoint about the 1979 version is there are no Transylvania scenes...
whatever.
