the end of the first video is definitely a glitch, it was just that crouch walking bugged out block walking sounds and once you uncrouched they would all play very fast at your position

The footsteps at 1:20 are a perfectly normal audio bug from Alpha. Basically the way footsteps work is minecraft measures the distance you've travelled and from that works out how many steps it should play( just over 1 per block iirc), but when you're crouching, obviously no sound is meant to play so the game just stacks them up and waits, and rather than mute them when you stand up which I think Beta did, the game just plays them all at once to clear the memory.
While the "NPC come alive" is a more original idea i still think the creator could have worked more with that idea instead of going with the generic black figures in a minecraft world or strange minecraft versions but otherwise than that pretty decent series i just hope the creator gets better over time
couldve been a reference to "White Eyes" but just using a normal Steve would've been creative way of showing it is a NPC and red herring people into thinking its another player

That footstep thing when he unsneaks was a real bug in the game back in the day, it would play all the footsteps that would have played while the player was walking if they werent sneaking at once when they stop sneaking. It was fixed in alpha 1.2.3_05, so its appearance in the video is accurate considering the version it occured on! Very good attention to detail.
In the beginning, the reason why the mining stops and resumes every time he crouches/stands up, is because of the nametag. The nametag is basically a way to Dox your hidden base/location, unless you crouch which makes it invisible. So every time he crouches, whatever is digging loses sight of him, and every time he uncrouches, he basically gives away his position to the thing.

You should check out “Beneath the Redwood Forest,” it’s pretty creepy and supposedly has some deep lore! I have no idea what the lore is and I’ve watched it a few times, but I’m also not a professional at that stuff😅

There's far worse games to be trapped in than Minecraft. There's few games id consider good to be trapped in. Stardew, terraria, Minecraft, this might sound insane but FNV(if you look closer it's not that bad of a life. Certainly has struggles but it wouldn't be awful) and Slime Rancher. That's all I can think of lol
