I’m so happy I found this!!! We loved this show so much!! One of the best shows ever at WDW. During our vacations would actually go into MGM some days just to see this show and then go to a different park. We still talk about it and miss it. Such amazing talent and production ❤️
Disney MGM was such a great park. I remember during a late '94 trip there my hubby & I went to the animation studio & were able to watch the animation team working on the then upcoming movie Pocahontas which was really awesome! When Disney closed that animation studio IMHO that park lost one of its best attractions!
It be so cool if the guy playing Quasimodo’s was the official one in the park then he could talk and sign autographs and that like the rest of the people in the show
Almost 25 years since I saw this show live at the Backlot Theater and I still get chills and tears watching it. Some days during its run I would attend multiple shows. A heartfelt THANK YOU to any and all of the incredibly talented Cast Members who might read this. THANK YOU!!
I feel sorry for Quasimodo's mother, she was trying to keep her infant son safe. Frollo was a merciless adoptive parent. He abused poor Quasimodo, manipulated him into thinking he was ugly, and locked him away from the world outside his whole life. No wonder Quasimodo's low-spirited and friendless. He's never had a friend before until Esmeralda arrived. The only friends he's ever had were the gargoyles, Victor, Hugo, and Laverne. And the only person he's seen everyday was Frollo. That just makes me cry. The only people who condoned his actions against the Gypsies were Esmeralda and Phoebus. There's just one problem: Phoebus was trained to follow Frollo's orders and was too afraid to stand up to him.
Here’s something extra to make you sad: In the Papermill stage musical version (not sure about the original Victor Hugo novel), Frollo is Quasi’s uncle. Quasi’s dad and Frollo are brothers.
Quasi's mom deserves as much credit & honor as Nani from Lilo & Stitch. The fact she kept her baby son & protected him for as long as she could showed she had a very big heart. He surely did have the signs of his deformities even as a baby & back in those days I'm sure others, even among her family & friends, likely encouraged her to abandon or unalive him due to his challenges, some even perhaps thinking he was evil because of his problems. But his mother never failed to see the good in him & I like to think she was a guardian angel who helped keep him alive & hopeful until he could meet up with Esmeralda & ultimately get the happy ending ending he wished for😇
I want to thank you for sharing your videos with us. It brings back a lot of great memories for me, I worked for disney from the late 70's until the mid 90's, and seeing the shows and parades and just everything, I just want to say thank you, for bringing back a big part of my life. 😊😊
John Horton Well it is Disneyland. The last thing they’d want is to haunt people (specifically kids) about burning gypsies and a psychopathic god worshiping judge making delusional statements about sinning.
The stage show of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame in New Jersey was quite different from this one, because it was closer to the Victor Hugo’s novel.
Esmeralda has that big 90’s hair (since the movie was made in the 90s) so here she’s wearing a huge curly wig but how come her hair is so little now? What does Disney have against big curly hair?? They did it before why not again? In the movie she was known for her huge hair! 😡
Ugh...Disney don't make em' like this anymore. But No Hellfire??? Seriously?? And this Esmeralda isn't quite a singer but for a theme park version of this? Not half bad.
Hey, they kept the line "This is an unholy demon. I'm sending it back to hell where it belongs." So there's that. I honestly wasn't expecting that to make it in
Because it’s not exactly a child friendly song. And while, yes, it was in the movie, a theme park stage show is generally going to be designed to have wider appeal. A song about a psychopathic, racist judge who is so afraid about going to hell for having a hard on that he resolves to resolve that issue by either killing the innocent woman he’s crushing on, or by forcing her to basically marry him….isn’t gonna make the cut.
Well this was a stage show from Holliwood Studios or back then, MGM studios. Although I find it interesting that for California Adventure a few years later they were able to do 40 minute shows for the Hyperian.

@@madnaps Really?
I dream of Notre Dame's Hunchback on Broadway ...
The way they carried frollo away! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Dang, for 1996, this is really good camera quality
Ikr so Beautiful

I would've LOVE to have seen this live. There are so many talented people.

My favorite Disney movie of all time and Frollo is my favorite Disney Villain. 😍😍😍😍😍🖤💜❤️🙏🏻😈🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔.
To be completely honest- my favorite Disney villain of all time is Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) from Star Wars because he reforms.
I didn't know James Earl Jones as Mufasa The Lion King.
Dang the thing with the cloaks and the puppets is a really cool piece of staging! And they even let Frollo say "hell" a couple times!
Wow, I have never seen a child introduce a Disney Live show.
The 1996 Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a 90 minute masterpiece.
I heartily agree!
@@Esmeralda-2003 Me too! & I'm also a big fan of the direct to DVD sequel from 2002 which I very highly recommend it to all fans of this movie!
13:23 Clopin : (points) *flatly states* Yes...

Though I love Auasi he’s my favourite Clopin is so cool too and funny also anyone notice how Clopin is always somewhere in the background watching
I love the fact you have to connect with your kids
Vive la différence trop attachant émouvant 🤗
Remember the catacombs scene? Buddy in the mask was ready to off quasi and that soldier.
Tom Hulse was the perfect choice to voice his character Quasimodo in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
31:33-31:36 molten lead 32:27-32:30 that’s the end of Frollo.
That's the scariest scene in the movie. By far.
I'm surprised Hellfire isn't in this when i first saw it

@@Boogietron2000 yeah it’s bad enough with Frollo being raciest killing Quasi’s mom and hunting down those poor Gypsies
It’s the best Disney Villain song ever.❤️🔥
@@lesleyfrolloandhooklover6615soundtrack the whole soundtrack is the best.
I love out there ❤
My fav movie
I love this music, Out There is favorite song and he killed it in a bad way....made me sad

Music: Alan Menken(1996)
Lyrics: Stephen Schwartz

The only songs that are not in this stage production are Hellfire and The Court of Miracles due to time constraints.
Wow

Love this movie but Tiana is my favorite princess ❤
The way they killed off Frollo was weird. It makes it seem like an angry mob came in and hauled him off to jail.
Frollo falling to his death enacted symbolically...
Frollo is... R.I.P.
I subscribed
😊👍
Who thinks Papermill Playhouse is better comment if you think it's better or thumbs-down if you disagreed
The Papermill Playhouse version is waaay better
That’s like comparing a high school play to broadway.
It is superior. But you can’t really compare them. They’re two different work. One is a Broadway ready musical. This is a theme park stage show.
Ugh...Disney don't make em' like this anymore. But No Hellfire??? Seriously?? And this Esmeralda isn't quite a singer but for a theme park version of this? Not half bad.
Esmeralda has a beautiful voice.
Paper mills better
Hellfire is not family friendly, at least we hear instrumentals of it. The musical has A Guy Like You ramen out

I love the MTI version more.

The show is a little bit abridged and rushed compared to the Disney movie we all know and love.

Did they actually use real fire in the show?
Yes, real fire...
Wait isn't kinda bad for kids
Do they have a live version of Ariel?
No, live show Voyage of The Little Mermaid only at Disney's Hollywood Studios...
This show ran from 1997-2002.
Did they use a real baby or a fake baby?
Yea so clearly it's a fake baby
A real one.
A baby. A monster. That's what Frollo said surprise.
frollo the demon is dead
