Thank you for making this video. You are very kind and down to earth. What I really love is that you are a "regular person" like most people and not someone with a lot of resources and sponsors. You will certainly inspire many people to take the step and try to grow their own food. That is increasingly important these days. And yes, you need a bit more dirt in that bag so the potatoes will have room to form and grow on the bottom of the plants. Keep making videos and you will get better at it and have more confidence in your work. I'm planting sweet potatoes for the first time this year. With them you let those eyes grow until you can harvest many slips from each vine and root the slips to make new plants. Good luck with your potato bags.

FYI- I put more soil in the potato bags. lol. The potatoes can’t live their best life without it lol

My grandmother cut the eyes off. It was so expensive back in the day to get potato slips, but I know she didn't plant the whole ones. I hope to try some this year. Thanks for sharing. New follower so I am hear to get some tips.

Sorry I don't agree with you on how you have have cut and planted your potatoes but like they everyone one has their own water to skin a chicken. Good luck with your method.

Cutting them is just a technique to spread out the number of individual plants and has been done for pretty much the beginning of time (not really 🤣). Thing I don’t agree with is burying them at surface level. We’ve alway buried them 2 to 4” deep. But yes, everyone does have their way and all ways are correct if at the end you get potatoes. Whatever work for you, that’s the correct way. The only wrong way is not to plant at all. 😊

@@schoon3303 That's what I've done too. I thought you also needed to let them sit out for a day or two for the cut side to "skin over" before planting to help keep them from rotting. I guess like with everything your mileage may vary.

@@CardiacCat yeah, letting the “scab” over helps to seal them like a skin and prevent rot but you can also just peel the skin off the potato and plant and cook the potato insides. That’s if it’s not green or soft. I’ve grown potatoes in my compost tub from peels, wasn’t the intention but compost and potatoes was the product 🤣🤣🤣 There are so many easy to do it, all correct if it works for you. I used grow the in large planters, this year I’m trying the bags. lol learn something new every time

Hey thanks chuck for watching and commenting on the video! I’m sure there are several ways to plant them. I’d love to hear how you’re growing your potatoes in your area. Stay tuned for more videos for results.

Thanks for commenting. I’m laughing at planting at surface level!😂😂😂 I did add a lot more soil but I didn’t cover the sprouts. They need to have the room to grow. I’ve grown them several times and I appreciate you making me laugh.
