Until just seeing this video now, I never realized, that most of the good memories growing up, were at Mama's table. Wasnt just for our family to eat, when friends or relatives came, we sat at the table. I miss those days. I miss Mama even more. I do plan on sitting down with her in heaven to feast from God's table!
I can really identify with the lyrics of this song. It brought me out in goose bumps listening to it and made me think of my late mother and brought a few tears to my eyes.
when I hear the oakridge boys beautiful music,it reminds me of my dad and mom .he loved the oakridge boys. we will always have the oakridge boys at are home love your music and lyrics. voices that harmonize like a orchestra. kim
Duane Allen ( Ace ) was truly on his game singing lead on this great song written by Jamey Johnson. This song truly touches so many people and brings joy to all of us who loves our mama's. ORB's are by far in my book the best and kindest family anybody could ask for. I wish the radio stations would play more of them than they do but thank God for the great albums they keep kicking out to us....
I would like to say that this is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard the group sign. I can remember growing up as a kid and visiting with family and friends around my grandmas table playing card, visiting or just talking to friends and family. Grandma is gone now but I will always remember the love that was felt around her table. I love you grandma, god bless you.
It takes me back to a much more simpler time when life was good and our "family" meant everything to us. I don't see these kind of good old fashioned "family values" this day and age. Wish we could get things back on track again but I'm afraid it might be too late.
Great song. I didn't know that Jamey was a Marine, just makes it even better to me. After seeing the guys in concert 18 times over the past 30 years I thought GI Joe and Lillie would be hard to top at hitting the heart but this might just be it. You guys are sounding as good as ever.
Ah yes!! A beautiful song sung the way it should be!! THIS is why I love the Oaks 0 harmony the way it was meant to be sung!! Thank you all!! preshaded!!
What a beautiful song...sung by beautiful people. This is a song that everyone can relate to. Hello Don Carr. Rick will always be proud of those backyard guitar sessions when you were a little boy. We loved the Oaks then...and even more now. You boys stay safe in your travels and Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'll be seeing you soon at the Evansville concert. Can't wait!
I remember the Fancy Free cassette was pretty garbled and worn out in the Elvira section from playing so much. The Oaks were a great part of childhood.
Jamey Johnson wrote the words but The Oaks MADE the song. Nobody could've done it better than The Oaks. I own my mama's table. She owns her mama's mama's table. To someone who has lived the high life, it looks like firewood. To me and my family, it holds so many memories of people and days that are long gone. You cant buy that no matter the cost. I own the house I grew up in and I can almost see my dad reading the paper sometimes. I can almost smell his coffee and his cigarette burning in his ashtray. Thank you for writing this and singing this for us.
My dad did 22 years in the navy and when we would go to either of my grandparents house nobody gathered in the living room, we always gathered at the table. Nobody showed any disrespect. Looking back I see just how special those old tables were. who would have thought a table and a few chairs could shape so many lives.
So true.. I grew up around the kitchen table.. still gather @ the kitchen table with my mom and grannie, sisters and my grandbabies now.. that table taught me a lot... love those days.. great memories..
man look at the food on those tables! looks just like ours did & still do, this song means so much to me I miss you mom & dad, you to Bobby & Linda (my brother & sister) we had great times at mama's table
Thank you Jamey Johnson for writing traditional country music to help us remember the valuable parts of life the best songwriter in our time
That is what we grew up on. Mama's table settled many arguments. It was a place of peace and understanding.
STILL loving MAMA's TABLE!!

The table in our kitchen belonged to my husband's grandmother. Many meals have been served on it. This is one thing that will stay in our family!!!
Gonna get out all the scrapbooks and find all the pictures around my mama's table. I miss her so much - she went home to the Lord 4/12/2006.
