@@frosty2.010 Ben actually has a solid chin on him, I know he got KOd by Mas but realistically anyone in that division would’ve been put out by that shot. Like the original commenter said Ben has been in there with the likes of Robbie Lawler so Jake is nothing to him.

Ben isn’t a great striker. BUT he’s got cardio and toughness. What if Jake can’t KO him early? Can he handle the pressure and can his cardio handle a full 8 rounds? Bens never been KOd by a punch and that’s with 4-6oz gloves.
That's what I'm saying let jake tire himself out and then light him up in later rounds I don't believe for second Jake will have better cardio.

@@naveen5350 Still, that level of striking is enough to absolutely fuck someone up who's never boxed or been in a fight. And Ben has a fucking legit chin, look at the beating he got from Lawler and still ended up getting his composure back and getting Robbie into a bulldog choke in which he ended up "winning" the fight with, though I don't think Robbie was out when the fight got called. But still a win is a win.
Back to my point, Ben Askren's stand up skills are far superior to the average man still, it's not like this is the first time he's trained boxing, he just didn't do it much because his strong suit was wrestling, and he could beat elite level fighters with just that. So I really think him putting in a camp dedicated to boxing is going to hone his striking enough that he'll be able to TKO/KO Jake Paul. Ben knows how to take a hit better, he knows how and when to use and conserve his energy better, he has better cardio and he has a good chin. It's a lot easier to get knocked out wearing 4oz gloves, and Ben's been hit with those a lot. And that knee would've knocked out anyone. Except maybe Francis Ngannou..

Touching your opponent during a stare down is the best showcase of unprofessionalism. Askren was winning the whole thing until the end where he showed that Jake got in his head. But we as a Jake Paul haters shouldn't admit that.

But when adrenaline hits and even the slightest ich of fear things change. You can go to ksi vs logan 2 and see the exact punch i think it was round 1 or 2 that shook logan and made him not want to fight anymore. He felt jjs punch and like frooze and stumbled and was like " fuck " . If jake realizes his punches arent hurting askren and he wont drop, IF... not saying he will. If he gets scared he might blow out his energy not knowing what to do and panicing. Hes never been tested and this fight will give us answers.

The issue is Ben Askren is perfectly comfortable with being Ben Askren, he owns it and doesn't give a fuck about the dad bod, the goofy hair, or being sent into the shadow realm by Masvidal its all water off his back. So Jake trying to get in his head after Ben being in the game for as long as he has is just not possible and Jake didn't see that coming.
Summed it up perfectly lad. No way his mentality will be penetrated by somebody like Jake but sadly, due to Bens ability (boxing wise) I can only see this fight going.

If he loses, Jake beat a 36 year old retired mma fighter known for wrestling, who has a whole career of damage under his belt and just got a hip replacement and Ben still makes bank and retires again. I legitimately don't think Ben cares at all how this fight goes lol. Like I think at this point if Ben pulls it out of the fire then it's going to be a surprise to most people, and if he loses the backlash can't be worse than the Masvidal KO so he's just there to get some money and probably just go chill.

But he didn’t put in the grind boxing wise to get one of the highest PPV professional boxing fights in history. It's more like you challenging Usain bolt to swimming after you had trained for 2 years. Usain bolt competed at the highest level in his discipline and so he has a good chance, but it's something completely different so you never know

More like a guy who practiced sprinting for 3 years vs a life-long triathlete who's always struggled most in the running part, both doing 100m race.
Thats the closest comparaison, because you dont actually need to be a good striker to dominate in MMA, because punching is probably the least effective strike when you can use elbows and knees (thats why most UFC fighters use "hammer punches", because thats less surface area than straight fist)...

It wasn't even a rocking from a punch... It was a flying knee to the side of the head which would KO most humans (including fighters) on earth. Totally, but still a valid point though that with MMA you can scramble a bit more than boxing. Trust me, I don't want the kid to win but way more concerned if Askren fails.
I don't think people understand the difference in power between MMA punches and boxing punches. I feel like people forget that Connor who was supposed to be a powerful striker had pillow fist in boxing. Floyd was a much smaller man and still didn't respect Connor's power, I don't even recall Floyd using his philly shell that much if at all.
MMA fighters don't have the form that compliments maximum punching leverage, and boxing does. If Askren eats a clean right hand, it's def gonna be worse than most punches he gets hit with in MMA, and by a wide margin too.

Can some punch hard if they wanted, maybe, but not using the stance needed in MMA.
Chances are Jake Paul using a boxing stance punches harder than anyone Ben Askren met in the octagon, because they did not use a form that adequately produce powerful punches.
A guy like Francis punches hard af, but his peak power is OUTSIDE the octagon where he can line up his punch using a form he wouldn't use IN the octagon.
So when Askren gets hit by a guy like Jake (even though he is novice) it's gonna hit much harder than any punch in MMA.
Especially considering it's alot EASIER to land power punches in boxing. So Askren will be getting hit far more frequently, with harder punches, and with a higher ratio of KO producing punches like right hands and hooks.
The hand to the face was a power move, establishing dominance. He planned it. He downgraded Jake by saying he lives in Logan's shadow. Jake tries to control the situation by being the bully, by being the first one to shove in these situations. The hand to the face followed by the back turn was the single most disrespectful thing and clearly got in Jake's head. Jake had a reactionary weak shove and slap (something you do when you're intimidated as a bully) and Ben laughed (something you do when you're not afraid).
Going into the fight, Jake is no longer confident as the bully. If he reacts to the pressure in the ring like he did to the hand in the face last night, it will be a poor night for Jake.

Ben's punching technique isn't great and he hasn't got much power, Paul has the reach advantage, and Askren lacks technicals to be able to dance around the ring. He's a pure wrestler and an elite one at that, but that means nothing in boxing. He can absorb all the shots he wants, but if he's not dishing them out himself then he'll lose the decision.

I think that something a lot of people forget to factor in is that the loss in the press conference (which clearly went to Jake after Ben was so collected) fuels him to work that much harder. I really think that Geordie makes an amazing point in that a lot of people are looking at it in a youtube vs MMA way, rather than what it really is. And that's mainly because Jake has portrayed it that way HIMSELF. I look at Jake and I see a fast striker, amazing speed, pretty good stamina (hard to tell because of his past fights), and excellent combos. I look at Ben and I see weak strikes, decent combos, but amazing stamina and ability to take hits. When it comes down to it, the only way Ben can possibly win is if somehow he can manage to take Jakes's powerful striking consistently AND if Jake has bad stamina. Normally I wouldn't say that would be a problem, but 1. We don't know of Jake's stamina 2. Ben is off a surgery and retirement and 3. this is a new sport for Ben. When it comes down to it this will be a very interesting fight but I have no doubt in my mind that Jake will win. I predict 4th round KO.

A lot.of these guys dont understand that most mma fighters punch the way they do only because they have a lot more in their arsenal. So it's different combos and mentality before you throw a combination etc. Your also looking out for a lot more and certain head movements you simply can't do. From the sport of boxing's perspective a lot of these movements seem unorthodox and low level but anyone whose done it knows it's highly skilled and is different from boxing for a reason. If you decided to strike in mma like you do in boxing you'd end up losing 9/10.

Adrenaline is normally triggered by nerves and social anxiety/stress under specific circumstances. It happens differently for everyone, but judging by how emotionally compromised he’s allowed himself to become in these press releases and on social media.
When that first round starts, his heart rate is going to be insane and those glands are going to shock him with so much adrenaline. And sure it could work to his advantage and maybe knock Ben out, but AFTER THAT the body will be deficient of a lot of it. Also, I’m going to assume he’s likely very sexually active and masturbates, this tends to cause a shortage of zinc in the male body, it can effect the regulation of testosterone and that also doesn’t help adrenaline dump recovery.
I’m not saying the kid isn’t good, or that he hasn’t been training conditioning. There is much more to fighting than skill, it’s intelligence and wisdom that normally win outside of heavy precise hands.

Did pad work for 10+ min at a good pace and casually talked during the session. He's overcame slow starts and came up big. Most of Ben's life, he had a mind of a fighter. Been on both ends. Champion. Like I said, anyone has a chance in a fight but just because paul trained for 3 years, I haven't seen anything that great from him.
