Great interview! Love how he stressed the importance of good infrastructure. Some drivers act like you’re offending them personally by cycling but at the end of the day we’re all trying to get where we need to go. Some patience would solve so much road rage
What a cool idea!! I'll definitely have to check that out. Totally agree that you get to meet all kinds of people out there on a bike. I had an experience recently where I visited a new city and as I left the train station on a rental bike I had a nice little conversation with a local rider while we waited at a stop light. Pretty cool to start meeting people in a new place right away like that, which wouldn't have happened in a car.
Bikes are great for Kids. In addition to walking running and public transportation their mental health increases. It helps them mature. Unfortunately some drivers block the bike lanes or dont pay attention.
Bikes can be a source of independence, but roads don't account for them often, with bikes often sharing a space with cars going 30 and above. Fatality rate skyrockets above 15 mph, especially for children. Modern SUV's with hoods and high ground clearance also significantly increase the chance of killing pedestrians versus older cars and vans. Neighborhoods need to be designed to slow down cars to 25 and below so residents can rely on cars less, and cars need height and lift restrictions for the safety of all other road users.
It’s a nice little exposé from what’s going on in Chicago. I do lots of cycling myself. I think it’s just a better term to refer to people who ride bikes as cyclists and the term bikers from what I see and here is for motorcyclists.
Too many benefits to list if we enable more cycling. Always funny see drivers cite the cyclists running stop signs..... As if THAT is the thing impeding traffic.... No, it's not the 70,000 motorists in rush hour slowing you down every day..... It's that 1 cyclist who rolled a stop sign 6 months ago.

I 💞💞 riding my 🚲🚲🚴🏻 bicycle way better than driving a 🚗 car because when I'm on my 🚲🚴🏻 bicycle I enjoy the scenery & sight seeing everywhere!! I never had a driver's license & a 🚗 car & I suck really bad at driving!! My emotional, mental & spiritual health is absolutely important than driver's license & driving a 🚗 car!!
Can we get bike lanes that better connect the Southside and westside to the city center and Northside? That is safe? Riding Archer Ave., where bike lanes don't start until almost Halsted is horrible... The path on western that goes over the bridge to 31st St is a joke...
I ride unicycle.... It keeps me in shape and cyclist deep down just want to be better than all the other cyclist. That said don't be a child and ditch the training wheel it's not that hard.
I always like to frame it this way: bicycling and walking aren’t actually that dangerous. They’re never going very fast and can’t terribly hurt anyone if they collide. . Cars are dangerous. Cars regularly kill people in all situations.
Thank you for having us, it was great to talk about the project!

Good bike infrastructure increases mobility, decreases congestion, decreases pollution, and increases health and happiness. What's not to love?
Important work. Its so easy to dehumanize cyclists from behind a windshield.
Thank you for introducing us to these members of the community!
What a great interview! It's great to see all of your hard work getting showcased!
love to see it. would be awesome to have some representation like this in the greater philly area

Make sure to mentor kids on how to ride safely out there it helps a lot.

@@jpsalis Even in a car an SUV will pull up as I try to turn and complety block my view so people end up buying higher SUVs
Well done-- transportation can be oddly dehumanizing so thanks for counteracting stereotypes!

More separated bike lanes, please . 🙏🚲
What a great idea and what a great interview. ❤❤❤

Meanwhile those same drivers speed literally every single time they get on the freeway.
@@Thezuule1 not even on the freeway. everyone speeds everywhere in my area as naturally as they breathe
@@stormer7502 Like 35mph sign really means 45mph...
In convenient truth: Some cyclists do ignore stop signs. I know because I commute daily with my bicycle and I see it all the times.
Neat, I will check it out.
With E Bikes its a great time for everyone its not just leg power, better for those who need the extra help.

I haven't urban biked yet. Lucky to have a rural community with paths but would love to go to a nice city , bike and eat 😅
I use both a bell & a whistle depending on the situation.
Keep on rollin, cyclists. 🚲😅

The lack of hate on here, especially compared to twitter, is absolutely insane lol

We gotta get Bobby a bike that's not from Amazon.
i never seen so many cyclists not wearing helmets as in Chicago-that seems to be distinctive attribute Chicago cyclist.

Cycling should be so dangerous. We need better infrastructure.

Lol, car drivers think they can drive over you legally
Well, they do get away with it. They murdered somebody and get to drive home that night, even drunk/high.
Most of the time no they will get life or death penalty in USA or Canada @@WarrenSvoboda
If no bike lane then I take the lane.
