Wait!!! You are suppose to release the tourniquet, hold the insertion site, then press the needle safety release. She didn't release the tourniquet after advancing that's why so much play blood was dripping like that.
For those saying that the patient shouldn't have bled so much: These dummy arms that they use for practice are very "bloody" and don't occlude perfectly, even if you're pressing down very hard. When you occlude the vein on a real person, the blood won't drip out like that. They should have shown that she primed the extension tubing, though. I assume that she did because I know the steps involved, but they definitely should have shown it.
No this happened because she did not release the tourniquet from the dummy after advancing the needle That's why it bled You can't pop the needle without releasing the turnip It's going to make the dummy bleed more
Prep all equipment before, then put tourniquet on and look for best vein to preform vein puncture and clean the site of iv insertion, then preform vein puncture.

Extension tubing primed at 2:25 :)
yikes! remove the tourniquet before attaching the extension tubing
Right? Omg my teacher would tear my head off lol

You primed the syringe but you didn't prime the tubing that connected before flushing..
Very helpful, thank you for the upload. I was that patient that bled like crazy lol Scared the girl doing my IV at the time.

A number of things missing here. I'm surprised they mentioned to check for bouncy veins.
i like the step by step
Vary good❤❤❤
Can't believe that it is a University video! Let all the blood dropped out like that.... haha

The blood flush out 😮
Nice video
Very sloppy example for a University.
So much preparation and still lost that much blood.
Well whoever thought this was a great idea. Anyways she didn't occlude hard enough....a lot of instability as well. It's okay shes learning lolll
She should have pressed a bit higher, I guess.
very easy to understand
