The orange or red layer is good, can be sometimes excellent pay dirt. Its the iron ore deposits. I get a lot of gold from that layer and I will follow it until it disappears. I have in the past pulled an once from the red/orange layer. In rivers you can have several depths of the red/orange layers. Deeper the better. Creeks much better
Hey man, do you know of any good public areas near Boise, Idaho? I have never been panning but want to start. I was told that almost all areas are private property.
Most of the boise rivers are free to prospect. And the river is not private property. And all the claims are marked. So if you don't see yellow signs you are probably good. You can also check the diggings. Com to see if it's an active claim
