My mom just died yesterday from stage 4 lung cancer that spread throughout her body. She got diagnosed 5 months ago. Were also here in NJ. Glad your better now. Congrats!
I'm so glad you're doing well. My father died from lung cancer 41 years ago - all they could do for him back then was to remove his entire lung. I'm so happy the treatment for lung cancer has moved on so much since then!
Thank you, Lenny. Love your positive spirit! I was diagnosed stage 4 nsclc February 20 this year. I’ve been a little shaky since mid June (my oncologist moved to another practice that doesn’t accept my insurance) but I’ve turned that negativity around. I have an appointment with a new oncologist this Thursday and am hoping for the best🎉 I just want to stay on track and fight this beast. Originally we were going to do chemotherapy and immunotherapy, but am being treated with Tagrisso and that seems to be working. I didn’t mean to go on and on, but I just wanted to thank you and wish you well!

You are lucky. I have no biomarkers including zero PD-L1. I had chemo and rads concurrently (large cell neuroendocrine lung cancer 3B - never smoker but rads for previous breast cancer to right side probably caused the lung cancer to same side). Anyway there is nothing else to be done now except scans every 3 months to monitor for new spread. Living life as best I can - yes, enjoying each day as it comes and grateful to be doing "ok" today. I try to only think about today and be happy for the little things I can still do. Best wishes for continued good scans!
So glad to hear you’re doing well. I’m also battling NSCLC stage IV and you’re right, I am not looking at this as a death sentence at all. I’m on Carboplatin, Taxol and Key Truda. I just had my 15th session this past Friday. I’m doing well, although I’m feeling a little crappy right now but getting through.
I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2024, 11cm tumour in my left lung NSCLC, LDP1 score was only 10, following 4 sessions of chemotherapy and keytruda the tumour has more or less disappeared….i am now on keytruda every 3 weeks (200mg) for 18 months, having arthritis side effects induced by the immunotherapy at the moment…..it’s a small price to pay!!
May God bless you and continue allowing Keytruda to work. I took Keytruda for around 3 years. Have been of about the same. I am a 7 year survivor from stage 4 lung cancer. Diagnosed June 2017. Started Keytruda February 2018. Every three weeks. I am so very thankful for this drug. For me it is a miracle drug. My oncologist told me once that if it weren’t for Keytruda I would not be here. But I am here and Thankful to God for allowing humans the knowledge to make Keytruda. Hope you continue with good results!
I think it’s important for patients to know that not everyone is able to tolerate immunotherapy like Keytruda. Sometimes their bodies can’t tolerate it and it unfortunately no longer is an option for treatment.

Greetings Lenny! I’m in the same boat with ya. Your story was very helpful to me. Not going to lie. I went from a life of always helping others overcome adversity & accomplishing great things in their to lives to having no clue how to do it for myself. It’s very hard to get out of that dark place sometimes. Which is kinda where I’m at today. Your story gave me back that semblance of hope which had fallen by the wayside. I realize what is truly missing right now is a support mechanism to help me overcome the self-doubt, depression & being able to reach out to others for some light, which at times seems non-existent. So glad to hear u are doing well & thanks for being such a great inspiration for others on the journey.
My mum has been diagnosed with left lower lobe lung cancer. She too has a tumor in her brain so I been doing some research and found more people diagnosed with lung cancer has a tumor either in the brain. Also, found out that there is second tumor. The tumor is easier to see in an xray especially if you have breathing issues you are more likely to get a test and the results are good or bad. Think the cancer starts in another part of the body that is not detected. Such as back pain, leg pain, and any pain that is unexplained and usually is diagnosed by symptoms only without any tests done. Remember you are your best advocate. You know how you feel and never give up on receiving the proper medical treatment you deserve. Thank you for sharing your story. God Bless

And kidneys, but after steroids ND A 1 month time, went back on the keytruda , looking to stay on it one more year. Side effect! Unbelievable mouth ulcers and gum recession as well as enamel wearing off my teeth. Bleeding, I am really trying to stick with it since my scans are clear.
That sounds so scary even though they said there was a 95% success rate with the gamma knife. My brother used tecentriq and chemo and radiation for small cell in his duodenum. He’s still alive but it was a battle like yours was.

@stanhankins. Hi Sir. I had pain just like you without any injury and I used to blame that it could be coming from my hip bursitis. So there were times I would wear “ a boot” to keep weight of my leg. Well one day the pain was so severe 9 out of 10 and progressing. When I saw my doctor he took an X-ray of my knee , he thought maybe there’s some liquid accumulated, also a vein in the inner calf had all of sudden gotten very dark and was extending. Went for an ultrasound to see if I have DVT ( deep vein thrombosis). Well I didn’t have DVT but I had a superficial blood clot. The pain was still extreme. He put me on a baby aspirin but then increased to four baby aspirins for three months and then he’ll check my situation. After ten days the pain is like a two. So my point is all this time I thought it was my knee but it was a blood clot 🤦♀️😞
