      it is indeed my opinion, thank you for clarifying. however, it is an opinion shared by the majority of the dog community as they are the 2nd most popular dog breed in the world, rumor the german shepherd won best in show at westminster, and they have been used by police and military for decades. so it's not just an opinion, thanks for your unnecessary input

      GSD has good to great qualities depending on its uses. They are smart, quick, agile which makes them good for police work. With that being said Rottweilers have also been used for similar things. Rotts have actually been used in times of war and are one of the smartest, toughest and loyal breeds out there.Now it is also of my opinion that the rott also has the best natural instincts for guarding. It's is this reason alone and the most important reason for normal civilians looking to protect their families, that I choose a rott.

    • @charman8776
      @charman8776 7 років тому

      Raymond Murphy it depends on the line you get. These days rottd and German Shepard have some show lines. Of course they still have the guarding ability. But temperament is modified.

      Farouk Anwar he's a young dog. Give him time to learn and honestly, he's a lot better behaved than many older dogs I've encountered. Heck, he's better behaved than my shepherd mix was at that age and she was an absolute sweetheart (but the behavior problem was because she had no obedience training with her first owners and had no idea how to behave properly and that combined with her brilliance and stubborn border collie side was a recipe for disaster - eventually, she learned how to behave herself somewhat, but even then she never met a critter outside that she didn't want to chase or greet).

      ginzod Sorry for the book xD
      That moment when milk bones have caused the death of thousands of dogs because of their shady/dangerous ingredients, cause nothing says "I love my dog" like giving artificial by-product packed cancer chunks instead of all natural, healthy, teeth cleaning, raw bones. (Cause ya know wolves go to the store and buy a box of milk bones)
      Try researching the stuff you give your dog and you'll find out how horrible things such as milk bones are, they aren't healthy and are more dangerous than raw bones will ever be.
      Edit: There is also a low choking risk with bones, assuming that you know your dog well enough to know if they gulp or not you'll know the proper size bone to get (gulper will need a larger bone but not a weight bearing one) and how closely you'll need to monitor them. Yeah if you give a gulper a small bone and ignore them they could easily choke but if you're a good responsible owner and pay attention to your dog you'd have to sit back and let them choke for anything to happen.

      Well said Nea Nea. I can't believe the ignorance of some people.

    • @ronan7036
      @ronan7036 7 років тому +2

      Raw bones are soft and easily digested, its cooked bones that break easily and hurt a dog, huge difference and it'd be cooked bones that hurt the other dogs you've seen.
      Raw bones are amazing for their teeth, that right there is obviously pure ignorance on your part, even a tiny amount of research and you'd find that they're good for their teeth.
      You aren't saving any dog's life, you're spreading misinformation which is just continuing myths (aka the problem).
      He will enjoy a much healthier dog with fewer vet bills and longer healthier happier life. Try reading the ingredients next time and ask yourself "Where is the meat?"
      And on that note, how about some education? It'd do you some good.

      Because of their intelligence they are not easy to raise properly if they are ignored or not worked properly.. They will find something to do if left on their own too much. After an injury when I could not take my boy for long walks, he invented chores for himself. If I asked him to get a shoe or object I had dropped for me, he would get it and bring it to me. Later, he would steal one of my shoes so I would have to ask for it and as payment, I would play a game with him inside the house. When I was able to take him out more he still would get things I dropped or could not find ( or things he had taken and hid so I would ask for them). This could have become a destructive habit if he was not exercised or ignored, so you have to think hard about getting a Shepherd. My female has learned to copy my boy, except she doesn't know the names for items like 'keys' 'shoe' or 'sock'. She's learning.

      Same here, we have had a pure bred border collie since around 2002 I think? I'm pretty sure she is turning 15 in April and our family has only fed her food from the store. I think it just differs from dog to dog depending on what they need and how much

    I really enjoyed A Day with you German Shepherd Dog. It was my first grown up dog. By that I mean, I got married. Had gone through college. Got a new car. Had my apartment soon to move into a home. Was a nurse. Got pregnant a few months after we moved to the home, I had my first baby.
    She had been taken care of well like you are doing but I cooked a chicken a night for my husband and drizzled the oil and parts of cartilage and bone and scrap meat over her food letting her have the bones that were not dangerous to poke a hole in her intestines or get stuck. She looked slick coated and beautiful. The vet asked me what I was doing for my dog and that was it. He said she looked better than many show dogs he's seen. She had a good temperament and loved to play fetch every afternoon when I came home from work.
    I walked her quite a bit, too. I loved her so and she could do so many things I trained her to do including getting me a new clean baby diaper. Just one from the bag. Ppl could not believe it lol. They know you very well and I you are willing to put the time in, they love to help you with whatever you are doing. She got to know the new baby and was very gentle with her and was a great nanny dog for all my kids. It was so hard to have to put her down due to cancer. So hard. So sad. She was my best dog. My next best dog was my daughters Am Staff/ Pit who loved everyone and was very well trained by us. My daughter needed to go to Paris for her job so I got to keep her. It was a pleasure. She was good protection plus she listened to my commands and read mine and the person at the door body language. Smart and loving. Miss her so bad. It's been a year Oct 15 since she had to be put down due to cancer as well. Enjoy every moment with her. Time goes fast. You just get them trained well and you have a few good years after that then they may die due to cancer before 10 or 12 years that you expect out of them.

    I have a German Shepherd with pretty similar markings. She's a female. She's 8 now but had a high pitched bark just like yours when she was a puppy. I think it must be common in GSD. Her bark is pretty deep now though. She's real smart just like yours and was very easy to train. The way your dog looks at you when you talk to him reminds me so much of my dog. I swear they can understand what we say to them. And my dog loves to run with me and she tries to bite the leash and run with it in her mouth, too! It's crazy how much this video reminds me of my dog, who I don't get to see that often as I am away at college. Keep up the good work and keep up the awesome videos like this one!

    Love German Shepherds. I had always heard you aren't supposed to feed them chicken bones. Good to hear you can feed them chicken as long as it isn't cooked. But I also heard once they've tasted blood, they are more likely to kill live animals and bite people. German Shepherds are so smart and absolutely beautiful.

    Good lord, man! I'd love to be a puppy in your house. Sabre eats WELL!!!!
    Take him to the beach, please. I'd LOVE to see that!!! And the vid was NOT too long. I enjoyed every minute of it. And your mum was right; Sabre does have a cute wiggly bum. 😊

      You picked a good dog. It's hard to tell what they will look like if you get them too young but yours looks beautiful and that gray streaking is called sable on the back and is a certain breed mixed in and a good sign. I forget the name. It's from Germany but you have a nice American large boned GSD there. Some think the color of the saddle on the dog should be all black but that's not necessarily true.

    nice video. you appeal to be a great leader, calm and confident which translates over to your dog. Also like the breakfast you get for him...that is proper nutrion (other than your load of cereal / sugar). Anyway, thumbs up

      Sorry to hear about your dog passing away. My sister had a rotwiler and she was a really good smart dog. It really hurt me to see her suffer before she passed. I still believe someone poisoned her but then.... who knows . Well now u can probably get another dog, preferably a cane Corso, have u ever heard of that breed and u can give it ur last dogs name.

    Nice looking dog man, reminds me of my dog Raider. He could out fetch a Lab or golden retriever. They're scary smart too, they learn how to work door knobs and locks on sliding glass doors. I'm guessing he's around 90lbs, and comes from true German lines? Make sure NOT to exercise after eating because they're prone to get bloat, or what they call twisted stomach, and that's a very expensive surgery..Congratulations for having such an awesome dog.

    Veggies are also added to a raw only diet for German Shepherd dogs!

    • @NerdVlog
      @NerdVlog  7 років тому +5

      Anthony k. Nance No they are not. Dogs do not need vegetables at all in there diet, they are carnivores. They have a hard time digesting vegetables as there stomachs are not built for them. I have done allot of research into raw feeding and I advise you do the same. I will do a detailed video soon going over everything about raw feeding a dog. Thanks for watching the video.

      NerdVlog sometimes they eat grass, like cats, all carnivores eat a litle bit vegetables. And all herbivores eat a litle bit animals (cows eat insects/spiders when the eat grass ror example) and YES insects ARE animals.

      Science diet for sensitive stomach is ok for any dog and agrees with them but German Shepherds can eat almost anything like a wolf so that was a plus when I had mine. The cancer was in the grandmother and mother's line but she had good hips. I only paid $275.00 for her but that was years ago but it was a bargain because I did not get a full life span with her. I stayed more than half the day deciding between two of them and the other two I rejected right away. These two were the same temperament and look so I chose one of the two and it turned out in the end to be the pick of the litter.
