I love Mao very much and I understand her winning from a technical standpoint, but Jia was the highlight of this competition for me. Her level of artistry for someone so young and tiny never ceases to amaze, and she always skates with so much joy. That Ina Bauer at the end of the program honestly brings goosebumps. Really hope Jia can stay healthy and possibly make the next Olympic Team. That girl has SO MUCH talent and potential.
I had no issues with Mao winning given her technical advantage, but I felt Jia should have gotten much higher PCS, especially considering her obvious qualities and also a clean skate.
I think the musical timing of the elements in this program is quite poor compared to both Mao’s program as well as Kaori’s program to the same music even though Jia is fantastic

I love her skating! She has something that makes you draw into the performance and forget it is a competition. I need to mention that her PCS was so low here though. Judges already set the result and made sure it happened whatever they planned. Figure skating is such a beautiful sport, but I must admit it is one of the worst, corrupted sports out there.

I love watching her, she’s beautiful. That indefinable quality of gorgeousness is what the Japanese girls lack, the exception being Mone Chiba. Even Mao does not have this X factor, which is what I watch ladies Figure Skating for. Frankly none of the Russian girls have ever had it either. I like the way the Koreans package their ladies, no childish cutesy programmes for them, thank goodness. They choose quite perennial music and dress them in beautiful harmonious colours.

Most of the Russian ladies that have been crowned champions since that atrocity in Sochi 2014 have all been pumped out like technical robots, even the ones with potential were given choreography that feels rushed and jammed packed like sardines in a can. Jia reminds me of the days when artistic figure skating heavily weighed in the artistic component and when judges actual dinged skaters for improper technique like unclear edges, excessive prerotation, muscled jumps, etc.
What's wrong with choosing childish cutesy programs if those programs are age appropriate? Also, please don't generalize the skaters by calling them just "Japanese girls" or "Russian girls" just to boost Korean ladies. Each skater has their own style, strengths and weaknesses.

Comparison of under and over scoring is criticism of the obvious bias that has always been there in Figure Skating, judges always boost Russian and Japanese skaters to undeserved levels. It's part political, and part personal. Figure Skating is quite a corrupt sport.

Her PCS being 59 is just a pure joke... It should have at least been 62-63. For me, she should have been a gold medalist overall.
