This is a review of the G.I. Joe team's walking missile rack; Fast Draw. He's a childhood favorite for many, but not an especially memorable character, unlike many others from 1987. His real name, Eliot Brown, is an homage to the Marvel Comics writer and editor who did GI Joe Order Of Battle. Despite not commanding a high price on the aftermarket, he comes with tiny and fragile parts which make him hard to complete. He was also available in 1993 in a mail-away with two other figures, but did not come with his retail accessories.
I had a couple Fast Draws and one of them had a warped bar in the backpack. I did a repair that was successful. I pried open the backpack, pulled the intact bar out. I held it over boiling water (not in the water!) for a few seconds until it became pliable, and then I a straightened the bar so the missile cradles would line up together. It was successful, but very scary!! The backpack is not easy to pry apart! It easily could have broken. That bar is super thin, and could have been permanently damaged by the steam treatment. And the whole thing could have broken as it was being reassembled. I'm not sure it was worth it. It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart.
Fast Draw was one of my favorite figures back then.
My first figure here in Brazil. I was 6 years and the year was 1991. I really like this guy.
I have mine operating the RPV and he looks great! Nice review
fafnir is a dragon from Norse mythology and his armor resembles a rather modern ceramic based armor called dragon skin. Great review as always. thank you.
I remember buying him with my paper rout money when I was younger
Fast Draw the one of my favourite, I like the figure and the equipment too
this is one of the first reviews I've watched of yours, and I am impressed! great job on one of my favorite "one-time wonders", meaning they only ever made one figure of him! no recolors, or v2's. he would have been awesome as a vehicle driver as well! probably something with tons of missiles, obviously!
Another great review! Thanks brother!
Loved this guy as a kid. My son plays a lot with him now. Lost a few bits but still a cool toy. Top notch review as always. Have a good weekend. Looking forward to the next video. Roy
formbx257 like the background music in your video. 👍😎
he is a favorite of mine. top tier figure. can't wait till HCC gets around to his review. fast draw is a great design.
Great review. Glad you didnt stay away too long .
Heck yeah!! Another formbx257 review!
I always liked this figure. He was a bit outlandish, but when I was a kid, I thought he looked bad ass.
1987 was the height of my gi joe interest as a kid, I never heard/seen this guy before (U.S.)
WAW MAN!! I totally forgot about this GI Joe figure. I never knew his name but I remember I had it in the 80's when I was a kid. Is it possible that there are different versions of this bad boy without the backpack rocket launcher?
The only different version I'm aware of is the RDF mail-away that came with no accessories at all.
Thanks for your reply. I guess I had the same version than yours. It's cuz that's from so long time ago. I don't really remember. It's really great to have someone that is making reviews from those. I'm a small GI Joe 3 3/4 action figures collector but I only have like 50 of them. They are all in their boxes of course and they're all from the 25th anniversary 2009 I think. I really don't like the newest versions who came after that. For me the design of the boxes is a very important factor and I really don't like most boxes they made after 2009. However, I feel like an idiot because I just discovered the series of Battle corps and I really love their designs. I will get some. Here in Canada those figures are rare and expensive. The best option is to buy them in retro toys conventions. We can find some for $10-$15 if we're lucky. I met a seller who told me that the popularity for GI Joe figures dropped a lot since they made the 2 movies.
Such a great review video!
If the faceplate didn't come with the mail away Fast Draw, how can you tell the difference between the retail and the mail away versions?
There is no way to tell, the mail-away version was just factory overstock.
ok, thank you and keep up the great work
