thanks for the reaction! rie's voice is incredibly special and comes through so beautifully in this song, which is itself stunning! and the acting is simply amazing! all those scenes of him crying... were they necessary 😞 (i mean ofc ik they were but you get what i mean 🥲💔). this was so worth the wait i've had it on replay since yesterday now about the mv, just based off things i and others have noticed, this seems to be the timeline: - laundromat & outside: meet cute and establishing that they're both interested and will see each other again 😊 - pool scene #2 (green shirt for rie): them hanging out and flirting, playing in the pool, followed by their first kiss that ends up being underwater (almost as if they're hidden away from the world) - rie's (?) place (yellow & black shirt for rie): folding paper cranes, rie lying on junji's lap, listening to music and dancing on the balcony, back hug 🥺🦋 it's all very private and intimate, just the two of them in their safe space - rie's place (yellow tank for rie, orange shorts for junji): playing with the water hose in the garden, ice-cream on the stairs, ramyeon on the balcony (notice how rie's previous two outfits can be seen hung up to dry here), in bed cuddling and taking pictures, possibly followed by their first time (that hover tho 😳🔥 and rie's laugh there 😓💓) - phone booth from 'be mine': arguably the most important scene, the core of their conflict. junji's been saying "let go of the fear" "get yourself out of this wall right now" but rie is unreachable behind the glass (possibly not ready to be out and open yet?) also the sunset in the background symbolising the beginning of the end? - rie's place on the couch (white sweater for him - warmer clothing so some time has passed since the summer of love): rie doesn't understand why things have to change but junji is all out of patience so he leaves (stepping all over the paper cranes, a symbol of patience), rie is left with regret and memories of a more carefree time ("those unforgettable scenes continue endlessly") 😞💔 - pool scene #1 (blue sweater for rie, junji is mostly just naked throughout lmao - not that im complaining 😳): rie smiles wistfully as he finds himself at the place where they had their first kiss. then he sees junji and they're both surprised and apprehensive to see each other for the first time since the fight and separation ("perhaps, everything is already decided like destiny" "hope you feel the same as I do" - it was almost inevitable finding each other again, i miss you, do you too?) - and finally, the cafe scene at the end of 'be mine' and start of 'because' (same blue sweater from the pool for rie): they decide to talk things through, junji is reaching out once again hopeful things have changed, rie is tense and looks around nervously but doesn't pull away from his touch, junji leans in and rie still doesn't pull away - maybe he has overcome his fears and is ready to be out now? can't be sure though because they never show us how that scene ends, but the lyrics and overall tone of the song are very hopeful ("there's nothing to worry about, i just know it, i’m not afraid even if i lose it all") plus the fact that all shots of him singing are OUTSIDE the phone booth in conclusion, this is not a break-up song! at least for my sanity i must pretend it isn't 🤡
