American military has a big mouth and even bigger ego. Reality has shown that if you put up some stubborn resistance they are often likely to panic and run. The US army is certainly not invincible. A well equipped opponent that knows his trade can cause a lot of casualties very fast.

Don’t forget, the Russians actually radioed back begging for a ceasefire after claiming there was absolutely no Wagner there at all. Also the initial strikes were knocking out the first and last vehicles in the enemy column, trapping the vehicles in the middle like shooting fish in a barrel. There’s also audio clips from Wagner operatives all over the internet talking about this event from firsthand experience with a lot of detail

The other was when Syrian and Russian mercs that crossed the Euphrates River and got on the American side, when the Kurds opened an upstream dam and washed away the pontoon bridge leaving the Syrians and Russians stranded on the American side of the river. what was Russia ambush doing ?

To the Russians' surprise, this time, the Americans responded to their advance with extraordinary force, and it was a game of who blinked first.
Assaulting Ukraine soldiers backed up with tanks and APCs were very similarly annihilated by a relatively small number of Russian defenders along the Surovikin Line in the Donbas during the much heralded 2023 Ukraine counteroffensive. Like the US special forces, the Russians military were supported by massive air support and heavy artillery, along with drones and electronic countermeasures.
