      Probably because the CIA kept it super low key. They didn't want Putin to get publicly embarrassed which could provoke him to do something more (Even if he did they would just get their ass kicked again) but thats difference between US and Russia. Russia is all bark and no bite while US is all bite and less bark.

    See, wagner probably thought this was just some isolated outpost that would be an easy target. But it wasn't an outpost. It's a finger, a sensory organ feeling for the enemy, and when you touch it, you alert the whole body because as small as it may be, no one is willing to lose a finger. They thought they would take a finger, but instead, they caught a right hook to the jaw.

      @@messagedeleted1922 there was a lesson to be learnt here by the Russians, and they promptly ignored it. They can’t seem to shake the habit of underestimating an enemy or just believing they won’t put up a hard fight. Wagner group thought the US wouldn’t fight back, and this line of thinking has been fatal for at least 2 counties in human history. The CSA who believed the North didn’t have the will to fight the civil war, and Imperial Japan who believed the US didn’t have the will for a long war and would roll over after Pearl harbor. Even during the 1st Gulf war Saddam said that US military power was “greatest over exaggerated” these 3 conflicts were *decisive* American victories.
      The Russians again believed an enemy would fold at the sight of unfavorable odds, and again are paying a price in blood for not learning their lesson.

      Wagner and the Syrians may have been taking advantage of the American rule of engagement to avoid direct combat with the Russians, and perhaps the Russian and Syrian strategy of using superior forces to force the Americans and Kurds to retreat had worked a few times before this battle. The Americans at khasham decided to use overwhelming force to make Wagner realize that the Americans would no longer tolerate such sausage slicing tactics. This may well be the secret behind the battle of khasham.

    Seriously, tha amount of air force sent there is just hillarious. But also I can imagine the ones who give the orders start playing 'Welcome to the Jungle' saying "Let's fucking show this fucking russians why the United States doesnt fucking have free healthcare".
    And i'm being serious. They had a non-agression pact. Even the kurds and the syrian regime to both fight against ISIS. And then attacked? I imagine those guys saying "oh you wanna play? Let's play "

The other was when Syrian and Russian mercs that crossed the Euphrates River and got on the American side, when the Kurds opened an upstream dam and washed away the pontoon bridge leaving the Syrians and Russians stranded on the American side of the river. The Americans then chopped them up.

    • @historyandweapon
      @historyandweapon  2 роки тому +16

      In fact, the Russians and Syrians did not ambush, they assembled a small force and closed in on the Americans and Kurds.
      They hoped that by forcing the Americans and Kurds to retreat through pressure, they could then take the valuable oil fields and perhaps they could succeed somewhere before.
      To the Russians' surprise, this time, the Americans responded to their advance with extraordinary force, and it was a game of who blinked first.

    Assaulting Ukraine soldiers backed up with tanks and APCs were very similarly annihilated by a relatively small number of Russian defenders along the Surovikin Line in the Donbas during the much heralded 2023 Ukraine counteroffensive. Like the US special forces, the Russians military were supported by massive air support and heavy artillery, along with drones and electronic countermeasures. The planners were basing the success of the failed counteroffensive debacle in the HOPE that the Russian defenders would cut and run at the sight of the numerically superior forces with their "gamechanger" weapons . But none of them did.

    So why did the Russian HQ say "there were no Russian soldiers?"
    Technically, the Russians were correct.
    "Only" Russian Wagner Mercenaries were going to be attacked.
    My guess is that the Russian HQ wanted to "find out" how their Wagner troops would do up against the US Military.
    Well, I guess they "FOUND OUT"!
