This video is super helpful! I've been teaching phonics for almost 10 years, and your videos are so helpful for providing affirmation that these methods are effective, and you always share great resources and ways to extend the learning. Thank you!

Of a 2nd grade Saxon phonics poster my class had, it's samples were: star, dollar, butter, bird, horse, doctor, worm, and turtle (QU and WH are also in the category.) Nothing for the likes of AIR, URE, EAR, etc.
Though the Teflpedia page on it is pretty interesting.

Great work sheets and great teaching in general. You teach the "R" controlled words in the same order that I do and the worksheets you have are a great reinforcement and encourages critical thinking and comprehension. Good work!

I’m new to teaching phonics. If you have first grade students who are reading independently on a level M or N for example, do you still teach this?

I would evaluate their phonemic awareness. Students that are high readers in K and 1 are visual readers and struggle with encoding.
