- Super Cat emerged as one of Dancehall's biggest international exports of the 1990s alongside Shabba Ranks. He was set to rule the new millennium but mysteriously dropped out of the limelight

Supercat truly ruled the dancehall scene in the 90's
A real legend 💪
Him and Shabba were the Top Shottas
In the 90's? You sure? From 90 to 99? Again are you sure? It's time to pull them styles out again and hot up d dance.
He had the first 3-4 years until Beanie dropped that gurls dem sugah
Nah Super Cat is from the same class as Ninjaman, Papa San, Major Worries, Chaka Demus and Cutty Ranks. They all ruled the mid 80s to late 80s until Shabba Ranks became a global icon. From 1992 on Buju was the king of Dancehall and then Beenie Man vs Bounty Killer.
@@tommyaintgotnojobSupercat and ninja were still top dancehall artist
Especially prime ninja man 1989-1992
From the number one community! his mum is black his father is Indian but both Jamaican this younger brother Junior cat is also very talented and underrated 2 of my favourite artists have the best ever do it real don dada
Right, they always get it wrong. He even pronounced his surname incorrectly.
THE MAN IS ALIVE ..LIVING AND WELL..🎤🎤🎶🎶🎼🎶🎤🎤🎤🔥🙏🙏🔥🔥📖📖📖📖
Just because Jamaica dont see these veteran artists dont mean their career flop. They are still fully booked for shows all over the globe. Jamaica really has nothing to offer these veteran artist .
Facts!! ❤
@@JamaicanMillionaire "Dance ayard before you dance abroad." Jamaica is the best place for them to be as it's where there a product of and that's home! Jamaica keeps these artist grounded with a healthy and nourishing environment of nature unlike foreign. Back in the days It was when artist go overseas, is when they get introduced to all form and sort of evil and wickedness due to the foreign influence. All the artist from Super Cat's erra fell into drugs overseas with influence from their so called white friends.
THE DON OF ALL DON'S. MY FAVORITE DANCEHALL ARTIST. BEEN WATCHING ALL HIS OUTERVIEWS
Nobody flows on the riddim like Cat the Don Dada
I have consistently rated Super Cat as the best to do it and I am glad he is still alive and making music.
Yes I ✌️
@@ReggaeAppreciationSocietyIf you are going to speak on the Jamaican culture , at least understand and respect it .
To say supercat's dad 'was Indian and mom Jamaican 'is so disrespectful and just shows how ignorant you are to the Jamaican culture.
Cockburn pen was an settlement for Indians due to its proximity to the ocean.
Full time Africans like yourself respect what Jamaica is and stop trying to over "Africanize" us.We are more than descendants of slaves👍
I got Supercat as the best lyricist ever
@@davidscott3726wtf are u jabbering about?
@@djrobinson6688 🤦
This is my man. I still listen to his music.
talking about the don in past tense like im dead! LIVE CAT!
My thought too
EXACTLY
Big up yourself Supercat. this is Derek we grew up in the same community
The eighties saw the largest group of really great djs and sound systems. Dancehall greatest moments ran like from 1979 peaked in 1990 and declined about 1999 .
Fi real..Cast still touring. Will be here in Washington DC Aug 23
Supercat is the reggae dancehall goat 🐐.
The Wild Apache faith is written and sealed in the music fraternity of many genres.
They should make a movie of this DJ 🎬 .
Don't forget the younger Brother Junior Cat is just as talented as the senior.
Apache Cat rule everytime. Up deh Dada...
Super Cat is one of the greatest, his music is still so good now, even all the old tracks. I listened to his music from since I was a child living in Trinidad. Marcia Griffiths the best female reggae singer. And Junior Cat is a Don Dadda too.
Respect, wicked video.
Thanks to JAH
Glory Glory ❤💛💚
Blessings 🙌
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
One of the Greatest..Supa Cat!!🙌🏼🙌🏼
The baddest DJ in Dancehall since the beginning. Things he spoke about in the music was ahead of it's time and these issues are still on the rice. Good research you done brother
Blessings mi lion ✌️ Thanks for watching
Big up yourself DonDada !!!
More life and prosperity to you King!!! Nuff love...
Super Cat was a legend round my way, glad he's finding his feet again. Mental health issues can affect anybody, especially when people close to you pass on.
Very true ❤️💛💚
Very true ❤️💛💚
Big up Waterhouse and Clockburn pen.Mek dis bredda know that Dem place is Indian capital.👍
Seen this vid floating about. Now I know he might be a reggae legend and all that malarky but this geezer..I'll keep my language sweet cause of the young lad with this channel...is one horrible git. I knew this man when he used to march around in london way back very negative and loud mouthed who always wanted problems, and still bloody doing it to this day and aint learned zilch since. Won't take nothing away musically away but we did not get along at all and neither did alot of lads back then.
This mental health stuff well there's a lot of ppl who croaked it around him so that energy is a bit dodgy to me

No mention of ghetto remix red hot 🔥.I love that song still in 2023
He's the first dance hall artist that I ever heard get gangster with it in a hip-hop wait get a red hot what's amazing and still one of my favorite releases from him and this the fact that he was using a more hip-hop and blue with the speak person's what most dance hall artists were doing at that time it was hard
Reggae has evolved tremendously from its origins, starting wit hSka and roots rock reggae, in the '60s, to "rockers" in the '70s. That period from the '70s that even spawned movies like "Rockers" and "Smile Orange" and was quintessential to the promotion of reggae around the world but, sadly, seems to be a forgotten decade. There are SO MANY artists that paved the way for "Dancehall" it's really mind-boggling. When it comes to "Dancehall" though, Super Cat is definitely my favourite. To me, his style and his lyrics just always stood out above the rest of the Dancehall artists and to this day, "Ghetto Red Hot" and his collaboration with Kriss Kross, "Alight" are still bangers.
Well said
Super cat will aways be my artist I use to sing his songs an clash other youth in class, the first time I hear his voice on the radio I know I want to become an artist....big up super cat everytime 🎉🎉🎉

Si Boops Deh...one of the first song I learnt to play on a trap set. Remember it like yesterday.
i would like to know more about the equipment they used to make sound systems. are there still sound systems now? how about a history of sound systems?
Plenty soundsystems are out there. Loads of documentaries too
Yes! I’ve been to there many times. The Sound and SYSTEMS are very alive.
I grew up in South Miami back in the mid 80's to mid 90s. I was heavy in the dancehall scene. I rememver all this. Went to many sound clashes .
Keep up the good work, your videos are always informative even to those who feel like they already know a lot.
Blessings ✌️ Thanks a lot
Big up!!! 💚
Heavy D was not an "American rapper"... He's a born Jamaican who moved to the US growing up.

Thanks for this chronology, my friend. You did it better than anyone else so far. That was professional journalism. I'm a new subscriber. It is amazing what came out of Jamaica in that one decade. The Rocking 90's.
I was in Ghana last year. Taximan don't stop play reggae.
