I love that he is so open to talk about this. I think it’s important for his mental processing on what happened, and people in the US need to hear what they’re doing to protect us and others, it’s easy to live in a safety bubble if we never hear the truth. Thank you so much for serving, sharing, and educating how serious and scary it can be.

Being part of Naval Aviation, I had 0 clue what a Navy Seal was until 1986.
But the very first Seals I met at NASO were on Seal Team 6.
I was at VF-101 Grim Reapers in F-14 training when I met my first Seal.
I had no idea what the giant gold pin was.
Now it’s great most people know it’s a Trident.

I love DJ Shipley for who he is and what he has done for our country, as well as the so many others. You had no business in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iraq is worse off, and Afghanistan is back in under the rule of the Taliban. I think these interviews try to glorify people who were actually misled into believing Iraqis and Afghans did something against them. They attacked you because you are in their country, bud. There's no need for these elaborate explanations that attempt to distort reality. Going to Iraq and Afghanistan was a massive error of judgement by armchair generals and lying politicians that resulted in so many innocent people dying. There's nothing, absolutely nothing to brag about that. Most veterans are plagued with mental health problems and have substance issues and relationship problems because of what they've done and witnessed. This is not something to look up to. Make your career decisions carefully. Become a farmer, teacher, lawyer, tradesman...something that will give you a means to have a family and also allow you the time to be there for them. I find these interviews to be a replay of the same tune. There's so much more to life than being someone else's tool that has a used by date and then trying to recount stories and fulfil roles that attempt to preserve the fantasy of once being that tool.

Dude shut the hell up. Whether you agree with the intent of the war or not, many of these guys go into the military because they are selfless and want to defend the country. If you think the war is pointless that’s fine, but it’s a bigger meaning to many of these guys. A lot of extremists over there do terrible things to people which is what the Americans were combating most of the time. Quit being hateful.

If you want to keep writing these comments in the safety and comfort of your home, then you should start showing some respect to the men and women that allow it to happen. The only people that know what is actually going on overseas are the ones actually there. Also, if you’re going to put your opinion on the internet, make sure you get your story straight. You talk about how it was armchair generals and lying politicians that caused the issue and then you criticize Shipley saying that he is wrong for what he did. If you truly believe it was the upper echelon causing the issue, you would feel some sort on empathy for Shipley because he was following his orders to the best of his ability. Last thing, do not ever refer to a war hero as “bud”, you sound arrogant and entitled, making your opinion an easy target. Enjoy your freedom that the people like DJ Shipley has provided you 🇺🇸

There are soldiers and circumstances that stupid comment may have a very small amount of relevance to…..and you’re nowhere near any of them. With the shit going on in your head, I’d say you have no business watching anything military related.
