Kenny is lucky he managed in this era because Dunphy, Giles and Brady would have been too honest for him
Lol. Dunphy thinks he’s doing a great job and would give him a new contract because ‘he’s changed the style of play’. Dunphy never knew much about football and was always mostly concerned with promoting himself.

You can blame the manager til the cows come home. This lies at the feet of the FAI. During the champagne years, they failed to develop any kind of youth development program. They failed to get behind the LOI. Actually scratch that. They didn't even try.
Kenny did all he can imo did want him to do well. results don't lie .
he has to go we love him for his work in Ireland but we need a fresh start
All he could was nowhere good enough, he should have been let go long ago. Look how far wales got with a bang average squad of players.
@@johnmc3862I'm pretty sure Gareth Bale isn't "average", amazing what can be done with a group of average players though when you have even one very good/world class player in the team, it inspires the rest of the squad to out perform on a consistent basis. @@barryb90we actually have a good team but Kenny's tactics are horrible. We can good football, quick counter attack would be ideal
@@ThisIsMyRodrick I wouldn't say we're great and to Kenny's credit he's brought through a whole young team, first time since the mid 90s. Unfortunately we're going to get a crap replacement like Neil Lennon. We aren't going anywhere fast.

Imagine feeling sorry for him. He’s incompetent and to make it worse he shows almost no emotion.
No agendas? Come off it. 😂
We are a football backwater, decades behind most countries in playing style. Kenny trying to change that, I am happy to wait ten twenty years if football in this country is played in the correct manner.
I really haven't seen us turned into a passing style team under kenny on occasion we could put a few good moved together mainy against lower teams most of the time it was passing with the back 3 or 4 players we played some lovely football under Mc Carthy and O Neill also but they knew are our best strengths were always our physical attributes lost totally in the kenny era
The panel is totally right, it's simply extraordinary an Irish team mainly composed of lower league club players in England can't beat a Dutch side with guys playing for Europe's lesding clubs.
Exactly, herein lies the problem, their's a reason why some of them are playing for Stoke, Preston (ffs) Middlesborough and a reason why our last 2 opponents play for Bayern, Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus, Barcelona et al
They're not just talking about the Dutch game ffs. In context of 3years at the helm, guy has to go.
i think u missed the point,,its not loosing to the likes of france or holland that there on about its about loosing to teams ranked much lower thats the problem,,and theres been no improvment what so ever over the last 3 years, the honest truth is we have gotten worse since kennys appointment and its time for him to go hes had more than enought time with this team..

I see people saying things like "We have to play to our strengths(ie go direct). That may not be pretty" and "I just want the team to win. I dont care how we win". 100% disagree. IMO We should absolutely care how we play. We need to continue to build a football philosophy/culture in the country. SK tried, & failed so we move on to another manager with a similar philosophy and keep trying.
Did people really believe it was a one manager fix?? That it would be that easy???? Of course not. We had 20+yrs of hoofball. The game died here under that. The reason our squad is the worst one we have ever had is coz of decades of terrible football/negative coaching from yth team up to national team. Lets give passing football a bit longer then SKs reign. In the long run itll pay off for the game here. Hoofball wont.
We arent Spain and we never are going to be even with all the training camps in the world here. The reality is noone in ireland old or young knows that style to change the footballing culture. Even if they did know u'd be waiting 20 yrs to see them string a couple of fancy passes together. Lets stick to what we used to be good at and were known for. Lets pass that knowledge and culture on by getting the right people to teach the u16's etc. Get some old premiership players to show this useless bunch how to defend for a start, then we can worry about get fancy.
@@fruitcakereaper6014 What a negative outlook.. Croatia arent Spain either but theyve built a footballing philosophy. Any country can do it if you have the ambition.
I firmly believe we can produce top quality footballers here if we encourage them to enjoy playing the game, to pass, to dribble etc. Theres loads of talent among our kids. We are just missing out on it as they arent taking up the game. If we market the game much better to the next generation then we will produce better footballers.
This island has produced plenty of great footballers b4. The only reason we have stopped over the last 20yrs or so is coz we have let the game die here via long ball football.
GAA and rugby have moved ahead of football when it comes to hoovering up young talent. The whole set up needs a revamp. It seems to be happening now with youth football which is great. SK tried it with the international team(unfortunately he inherited the worst squad ever tho.... tks to 20yrs of hoofball).. It didnt work for SK but that doesnt mean we give up... AFTER JUST 3yrs !!..
We need to engrain a passing, technical football culture into our country. If it takes 20yrs to see the progress of that then itll be 20yrs well spent. Unlike the 20yrs of hoofball under Trap, ONeill and McCarthy where the game literally died here.
I don't understand why the FAI is escaping blame the manager is terrible yes but it's upstairs that put him incharge the whole thing is a complete mess
You could put Klopp or Pep in charge and it would not make a difference. They are a good, honest bunch of players doing their best but their best is simply not enough. I do think Stephen Kenny is low standard manager I think cause he is a league of Ireland I think if he was premier league manager he would been gone by now. I think they have been too nice to him and that
For a start he'd have premiership players in the premier league, not what the Irish team currently has.
Total humiliation. But don't look at it like that. Look at it as the end of Kenny! that's the best thing that has happened our team in years.
No it’s not. We rarely qualify for anything and played HOOFBALL since the 80s. Kenny took the blow, but he’s changed how we play. Maybe a better manager will have to structure us differently.
Ireland was once a highly respected team, boasting a 6th-place world ranking and a reputation for consistently defeating top-tier opponents. We approached every match without fear and were known for our formidable resilience. Our performance remained strong until the mid-2000s when a significant decline set in. Kenny has since made remarkable improvements to the team; just four years ago, our ability to even pass the ball was in doubt. Nonetheless, Ireland is a nation with a rich sporting tradition. Our rugby team holds the top spot in the world rankings, and we have world-class boxers, golfers, and more. There is no reason we can't set our sights on achieving the highest standards in football as well. Personally I believe loyalty to players is the cardinal sin in sports. Players should be dropped on a moments notice if they are not on form. Ultimately our players do not have a winning mindset, they rarely experienced winning, and winning becomes habit, as does losing. This team is caught in that mindset. They fear success as its new territory for them . Kenny has done a decent job and has built a team that at least can compete, we are just too inexperienced at winning and this won't change. @@LeMerch

What’s he meant to do with championship players seriously…. Except Ferguson and Colman that’s prem standards… most of the Irish team don’t even have a Irish passport.., come on people
He should NEVER have been appointed to this position! He didn't have any serious managerial experience to progress us internationally! Any up & coming players who have international options will only view playing for ROI as a last resort as probably already has happened with Rice & Grealish!
He was hopeless, an embarrassment, totally out of his depth.
Did we not lose them under a different manager
It has been an interesting experiment that has sadly failed. A lot of it comes back to the pick and our current pool of players. However, i think a more tactically astute and experienced manger (even middle to lower part of C.shIp) "might" move us further up the road to recovery.
Very easy to knock the manager but the pundits did not answer the valid question as to what they would have done differently. If the opposition have better quality players, you are up against it. Kenny is likely doing all he can with the squad he has.
In a way, yes, but Kenny is simply out of his depth. Remember we got to Euro 2012 with a frankly rubbish team that had at the time a great manager in Trappattoni.
@@conorcahill5422 Trapattoni didn't believe the Irish players could play football and the team was unwatcheable as they also were under Martin O'Neill. Kenny isn’t good enough but the fact is that Ireland are 50 years behind other European countries in football development. We need a full professional league and more investment into academies but the disparity is only going to get bigger.
Since the big cash mafia took over the English league we have mostly only second class players. We should look towards sending our youth to European league's. Not playing in the reserve league's in England. Ireland will never reach the level of German Spanish English nor top established league's..
@@martinfinlay5971saying this for ten years
The main problem is soccer ranks a distant 3rd in Ireland when it comes to sport because Gaelic Games and Rugby rank significantly higher. We have at best a semi-professional league where only a handful of players are good enough to get scouted to play for a Championship level club.
@@raymondbutler834 not true my friend. More children are playing soccer than any other sport in Ireland. For example check the junior soccer league's senior league school boy league's. If you want check also the FAI junior Cup. I do agree that the FAI are absolutely inept and have been since it's formation.
@@martinfinlay5971 I find that hard to believe seeing how there are only a fraction of soccer clubs compared to GAA clubs across Ireland. I'm from Meath and there are approximately 40 to 50 GAA clubs spread across towns and villages with zero emphasis on soccer. I suspect Kildare and the much bigger populated counties like Dublin, Cork and Galway would have significantly more GAA clubs than soccer clubs. I suspect traditionally strong hurling counties like Clare, Limerick, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Wexford etc wouldn't give a damn about soccer between them as the likes of Mayo, Donegal, Tyrone, Armagh, Derry and Kerry would prioritize Gaelic Football over anything else.
You can't turn players with limited ability into diamonds when they are playing (or not) at clubs like Preston, Middlesborough, Stoke, their's a reason why they are not playung for our oponents teams (France and Holland) like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Man City, Liverpool, Juventus, PSG etc....the stats don't lie, unless that huge ability gap is changed Ireland will continue to fall to qualify for tournaments and I would say as a 50 year old man i could well be dead by the time they do, and I'm not kidding, we are maybe decades away.

I think we’ve a good group of lads and Kenny has helped them develop but ultimately we aren’t going to outplay technically better teams . Useful skill set to have developed in the players but maybe best to go back to a “park the bus , long ball , counter attack” team ? Knight is a decent player in role against Dutch . Progresses ball , good retention , few good passes that might have resulted in goals . I’d not be playing malumby or smallbone much though . Very regressive . Don’t want to take any responsibility on the ball to make something happen . Safety first and back passes which puts pressure on defence and allows teams to settle . I think this is where Kenny got his selections wrong . Wanted progressive football but played safe players that put not making mistakes over making play first . Few of the lads have proven themselves to be up to it and few lads to develop over next few years . To be honest I think Kenny did an ok job and things looking better for future
Nobody with his resume would get an international position.Dunfermline, Dundalk etc , everyone wanted him to succeed because he is such a nice person but the only thing that matters, in the end, are the results, winning cures everything.
I am all for giving new managers time to prove himself but I knew from game one Kenny wasnt going to be a successful manager.Let us hope and pray for a miracle that we can qualify through a play off.
Always blame the manager the players we are not good enough its as simple as that
The FAI should set up an academy. Where players can be scouted for and nurtured. Ireland is very cosmopolitan,we have DNA from all over the world,South America,Eastern Europe and Asia. Its the 'Elephant In The Room' ,no doubt. Look at England. The game has improved Men /Women ,leaps and bounds. The FAI don't want to spend!GREED!!!!
And what planet is your DNA from? - Cos it certainly ain't from this one
Im actually delighted SK tried to play passing football, altho I disagreed with some of his selections(McClean)/formations(wingbacks) etc. If anything the team stopped playin to his style towards the end of his reign. We lost confidence, stopped taking risks etc. Against the Dutch you could see the players took the easy option far too much. Kept passing it back to Bazunu for him to go long. Thats understandable tho as confidence was rock bottom by the last few games. When that happens then the manager has to go. SK had plenty of time but just not good enuff unfortunately, Hopefully we stick we the philosophy tho. Just coz the manager isnt good enuff that doesnt mean the philosophy isnt. Plus I never thought itd be a one manager fix
The way people talk about our passing game its like we are like Brazil or Man City only on occasion under Kenny we played passing at the back 4 when teams allowed it a mix of 2 we are always better when we more physical and dogged we have to mix the 2 styles
Having had a look through all Kennys results, other than Greece what games exactly did they lose that you wouldn't of expected them to? Armenia maybe, but that's about it. Easy to be critical without offering any constructive way of fixing things
Yes i do agree it is a result based business. Ireland don't normally play attacking football. They like to sit deep play long balls upfront or score from set piece. I don't think they should sack the manager but definitely don't renew his current contract. Just let the current contract he has run out then let him go. Whoever next manager is they have to be flexible with style of play between attacking football and defensive to get results.

Not one constructive comment as to what they could do better, just commenting on results which fair enough haven't been great but what would they change if they were the manager. Other than the Greece result which was awful, this team have been good, they just haven't gotten any breaks. I know i'm probably in the minority, but I believe in Kenny, he will get a big result and with Ferguson to come in maybe they'll be more clinical in front of goal, stick with him, the alternative is to go to parking the bus

As I mentioned before when the group was confirmed and I was saying that this is a tough task, you need a special performance against the Dutch and France but at the end of the day it’s a result business, we would like to know where does this team go?.How far could they go?. I knew we never go to beat France, they’re the world champions for a reason and also finalist in the World Cup last year and The Netherlands are a very good team, when we put new players in,I have to say they have given their all since they made their debuts and Hendrick and Doherty are still here which doesn’t make any sense to me and all of us,they hardly play for their clubs, the club manager must have a reason for why Doherty and Hendrick don’t select them.I agree with everyone we need a new fresh start and a new manager,we have given Stephen Kenny a chance to take the time to take us to the next level and unfortunately whatever reason it didn’t work,Stephen Kenny is a league of Ireland at his best, this job he’s taken is too big for him,Mick McCarthy should have stayed,Kenny should have carried on as under-21 manager and he did a fantastic job, beating Italy under 21 was special, the fai made a big mistake.
If he had beaten Italy under 21,why haven't he been chosing those same players at senior level. Why he always start with some old players who have low stamina & speed
Man don't talk about France and Netherlands when you can't beat Greece
Exactly!100 percent.Why?.This is why we have to talk about. That’s the question we would like to know.
Going Into qualifying with no chance is awful, time for a proper manager one who can string a few words together, It's as if he is in complete shock that they have lost again.
We couldn't qualify under eoin hand and all the superstars that were in his teams
Yeah but it was much harder to qualify for torunaments in Eoin Hand's day. There were much fewer spots. There is also the Nations League avenue as well. Now if you don't qualify for a tournament, it means your manager/team is particularly shite.
@@nigefal all right I get your points but I will ask you this how many times have we beaten the Dutch and French in competitive games over the years even when we had top class teams and now there is a big outcry because kenny can't do it with youngsters starting out give him some credit for trying at least
Championship players V Champions League Winners. What did you think was going to happen?
Playing out from the back is not good football its stupid football
Playing long and giving teams fits with a high intensity game is the best way for Ireland to go
FAI get rid of Vera Pauw but have kept Kenny, makes zero sense. Kenny has done nothing positive with Ireland
Ireland or Nigeria B team
Brilliant. The what we need to win formula is fewer Irish and more Africans. Maybe the FAI could do a deal with African states where Irish players line out for their national teams. Could be a few quid in it. John Kiley as the new Ireland manager.
Ugh. This racism bollocks creeping in, keep your bigotry to yourselves lads.
We dont have the players, but this manager has not got anything extra from them . Maybe no one will, but its time to try someone else. Evenat that it wont be a top class manager, how could it be? We are a third tier or fourth tier footballing nation.
Kenny only managed league of Ireland .hes out of his depth
Hold on ???? Absolutely no way have Ireland got the players to produce results …that’s the simple facts
Typical pundits. Can't do it themselves and also have no actual solution.
See if they can find a defender playing a higher standard than one who's made 2 appearances in 5 championship games etc
Who realistically could the FAI get if Kenny’s services were done away with
Raneiri
Joachim Low
Stephen took the team as far as he can. Thanks Stephen .
Yeah, over a cliff, where do these clowns come from?
@@kenoneill8783 blame the delaney mafia.
To defeat? 😂
@@kennyryan625 It's so easy to kick a man when he's down. Let's just say that he done his best..but it wasn't good enough. Move on.
As bad as Steve Staunton
