Linkin Park has always had 2 singers Mike Shinoda the founding member is the male singing in this. He is the one that usually did the rap parts. Definitely keep the name, this is as Linkin Park as can be without Chester. Mike said "it was so LP feeling that it would've felt like a lie to call it something else" Before trolls and haters start saying a bunch about Emily's past it has been proved to be just an exaggeration on a bad situation she was put in. She has made a statement that is very clear. Plus the band definitely checked everything before hand in the years leading up to this.
Hello Ms Ma’am new sub here. Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda’s vocal chemistry in ‘The Emptiness Machine’ is incredible. This song feels like the start of a new chapter for the band
I am willing to give grace to those who mention a band name change, even Mike admits they considered it in interviews since the announcement. But you have to consider, this is ultimately Mike's band, even Chester said so in an interview when asked about being approached by Warner Brothers to take over the band and kick Mike out. Chester said no way, this is Mike's band. Asking them to change their name would be like telling Apple that they have to change their name to Peach cause Steve Jobs died.
Enough with saying the band needs to rename. They absolutely don't. Just stop with that nonsense already. Linkin Park has a special place in lots of people's hearts but so what? The band wasn't only Chester and people need to deal with it. Why the hell should the band change the name they worked so hard to make a household name in music? To appease people all up in their feels about Chester being gone? Sorry if this sounds cold but, clearly, some of you people don't know know how bands work, especially HUGE bands like Linkin Park. Emotions are one thing but they need to be tempered with reason and logic. The song sounds like Linkin Park, justwith another singer at the helm. And she's f*cking fantastic. Period. The band is sticking with the name so we can just quit whining about that now.
Mike Shinoda who started the song off has always been there and sang with Chester on many songs. Emily Armstrong is the new co-lead singer and I like her a lot. She just joined the band and this is their first single just released September 5, 2024. I don't mind them keeping the original band name. It works for me.

Getting some solid work done there yourself today!! 🎉🎉🥳🥳 I’ve heard of Linkin Park but this was probably the first song I’ve heard complete? I would play this very loudly, seems like I would be jumping around too😅
Makes me sad that Chester is gone, but I think Emily Armstrong will do a good job picking up the mantle. Was kind of surprised that it wasn't Bonnie Fraser, who Mike Shinoda had done a version of "Bleed Out" with, but apparently that was not to be. A bit of controversy comes with Emily, and you're not going to take the baton from someone as beloved as Chester, particularly when his family isn't very happy with the choice. So she's going to have a bit of a hard time to start. But she's got the chops. Definitely the right kind of voice. I think she'll do well if people give her a chance. I liked the song. If they should change their name, then so should some of the most famous bands in history. Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Queen, Pink Floyd, Journey, Genesis...twice. The list goes on and on. In fact, Chester himself sang for Stone Temple Pilots for awhile. So no. I don't think they need to change their name. The feel is the same.
@@Parker-- The point wasn't to sound identical to Chester, though. Fans say that's what they would have wanted but if they band did that then they'd be giving the band sh*t for the singer trying too hard to be Chester. Linkin Park do not, regardless of intent. I think Nu Linkin Park would have been a clever name and homage to the original band that is irreplaceable and also to the crown of the genre they held. I'm sorry you don't understand the argument you threw yourself into.
@@Parker-- I don't think a name change is necessary in this case. Chester wasn't a founding member of the band, and while his passing was terrible, LP is a brand now. It's easy just to say "use a different name", but on top of being unfair to the rest of the remaining founders of said band, it would also be bad to attempt to change the branding. It would also be confusing to change the name, but still sound the same, and play LP songs. Mike, Brad, and Joe felt that Emily's sound fit so well with the LP name, that it made sense not to change it. I agree with them... and support their decision fully. There were going to be complaints either way, so keeping the name was the best decision.
The live version is a million times better, not to mention she absolutely killed "Lying from you" "One step closer" the end of "numb" and "Faint" and "papercut"

Linkin Park always had 2 vocalists... Chester Bennington was the singer, Mike Shinoda is the MC/ rapper... I'm guessing Linkin Park went w/ a female singer - Emily Armstrong of the band Dead Sara... something new altogether. Drummer Rob Bourdon has left the band and replaced by Colin Brittain (drums)... Guitarist Brad Delson is still in the band and on the record but has opted not to tour... Alex Feder has been announced as their touring guitarist. DJ Joe Hahn, Mike Sinoda and Dave 'Phoenix' Farrell (bass) are the original members.
I was thinking about this a bit this morning - ie. to rename or not to rename - aside from Mike wanting to continue playing older stuff I think of Guns N Roses to Velvet Revolver - a switch from Axl Rose to Scott Weiland was pretty big and they played a lot differently. If Mike Shinoda came out saying that he had a bunch of auditions and he'd decided to pick up Phil Anselmo (formerly of Pantera) where the result doesn't sound like Linkin Park but they liked what came of it enough to go with it - that would be a similar stylistic discontinuity and thus merit having a different band name. In this case Mike said that the work with Emily felt like a continuity of LP so - I'm cool with it.
I like the song, feels like a great entry point and something that will get radio play to get them back on the map. It's nothing special, but the band has a ton of potential IMO moving forward since they already have a whole album recorded to be released in November. She seems like a great choice for the band. I think if they picked a male lead singer for the band, he would CONSTANTLY be compared to Chester Bennington and it would have been a nightmare for both the new singer and the band as a whole. Chester can't and shouldn't be replaced, it's just a new chapter for the band. They started so young that they're all still in their prime ages and the drummer is new as well.
Hey. You should react to the Heavy Is The Crown by Linkin Park. There you will hear the powerhouse that is Emily Armstrong. This song was just a teaser 😊
Mike Shinoda did the rap parts of the old songs while Chester Bennington did the vocals. I like this new song and Emily Armstrong brings a great new energy that honor Chester IMO.
I wasn't a huge fan of Linkin Park. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy their music and had a couple CDs. If they came on the radio, I didn't change the station. That said the hate from die-hard fans is really not warranted. I get it. A lot of the bands I grew up with had line-up changes over the decades. At this point in time, well over 50 years, I see every now and then that someone has passed away, the band is on a farewell tour, and the like. I watched the interview with Mike and the band, and he said they got together with a number of musicians to make music since Chester passed. One day, the guys were sitting around and said, "Let's do this again," and they were really impressed with Emily. She's not replacing Chester. She wants to honor him when they do the older stuff.
She comes from a band called Dead Sara . If you haven’t reacted to them … try out weatherman and testin my patients in studio recordings . Amazing voice .. it’s nuts
"Maybe they should have renamed?" - No "You guys know ehat I'm talking about" - No we don't know what you are talking about "But I think it was really good" - It really IS god. I mean good. "It'd kind of weird calling that Linkin Park though" - No.
if this was a male reaction it would get so fucking trashed lol. Don't get me wrong, I liked this reaction, but i just think it's sad that there's many other reactions like this that get shit because there's a lot of stuff here that you "should know" according to those people and they change their approach depending on the target
