These machines are set up like claw machines. For every so many touches, the 5th or 7th touch actually knocks the item down, just like claw machines where it takes so many grasps before it grasps with enough tension to pick up an item. When I was a mall cop ten years ago, I had to stand by the vendors that restocked the machines so they wouldn’t get robbed. The vendor said toy choices are very important, too. Loose necklaces for example make it possible to get caught on a claw. My point is, the only way to know if it is NOT rigged is if you see someone win multiple times in a row. Kawaii Arcade Masters says it depends on the loop that the prize is hooked onto. When it's the silicone hoop, it's harder. When you see it's just string, it comes off hook easier. Usually prizes they are trying to get rid of.
