These machines are set up like claw machines. For every so many touches, the 5th or 7th touch actually knocks the item down, just like claw machines where it takes so many grasps before it grasps with enough tension to pick up an item.
When I was a mall cop ten years ago, I had to stand by the vendors that restocked the machines so they wouldn’t get robbed.
The vendor said toy choices are very important, too.
Loose necklaces for example make it possible to get caught on a claw.
The hammer that goes around the circle will not press rigidly against the tabs that spin around until they have touched the tabs X-number of times and then they are rigid when they hit the tab, more easily knocking the thing free.
My point is, the only way to know if it is NOT rigged is if you see someone win multiple times in a row.
The machines have a setting for how many false positive attempts before it lets your skill matter.
Heart-breaking, but sharks would clean out their stock otherwise. 😅

Kawaii Arcade Masters says it depends on the loop that the prize is hooked onto. When it's the silicone hoop, it's harder. When you see it's just string, it comes off hook easier. Usually prizes they are trying to get rid of.

I watched your guys video with all of the stuff that you won in Japan, and here’s a travel tip that I find immensely helpful, use those vacuum seal bags that are for clothes on all stuffed animals, they make travel ones as well where you just have to push the air out rather than use a vacuum
They actually did take those bags on all their trips to Japan
