En baleares ocurre lo mismo, existen el mallorquín (lengua que hablo), menorquín e ibicenco. Es lo mismo que ocurre con el español, que en sudamérica se le puede llamar de otra maner como argentino, mexicano o colombiano.

haha I knew you would like this Catalan is basically a dialect, but I`m sure people from Spain can explain better. But as a side not that`s why you can see many comments in her videos saying that even people who speak Spanish don`t understand what she`s saying at times, and I have to admit I`m one of them and yeah, she`s really cool. No worries. Spanish and Catalan are similar given their geographic proximity, hence the mistaken assumption it’s a dialect. Spanish also exerts a tremendous influence on Catalan as does French but on a lesser scale. Btw I agree with what you said about Rosalia. You meant you pronounce z as s. In Spain we pronounce the z as th, which is the original sound. If you dont know we have a town called Osuna, written with s and we pronounce it with the sound s as well.

Overcome since in Spain we have a city called Osuna with s. Thats why we are unable to say Osuna when the word is written with z.

Catalan is basically a dialect, but I`m sure people from Spain can explain better. But as a side not that`s why you can see many comments in her videos saying that even people who speak Spanish don`t understand what she`s saying at times, and I have to admit I`m one of them
and yeah, she`s really cool. I think one of the reasons we (her fans) are so crazy about her is because beyond the talent she has, she is also genuinely a beautiful person
Catalán isn’t a dialect but a language in its own right given it evolved directly from Latin, the same as Castilian Spanish, rather than directly from Spanish. There are variations of Catalan such as Valencian and Mallorcan (spoken in the Balearic Islands). Catalan and all its variations are spoken in Catalonia, Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Perpignan region of southern France, La Franja de Ponent, (a strip of land in the adjacent region of Aragon), and a small number of people also speak it in l’Alguer, (a town in the Italian island of Sardinia), and Yecla, a town in the region of Murcia.
The reason people find her difficult to understand is down to her singing in an Andalusian accent, which isn’t her own accent but something she puts on. Many Andalucians in the comments have mentioned that it is not 100% which makes me think that she’s kind of invented a language or at least a diction of her own. She is one of a kind!

No worries. Spanish and Catalan are similar given their geographic proximity, hence the mistaken assumption it’s a dialect. Spanish also exerts a tremendous influence on Catalan as does French but on a lesser scale. Btw I agree with what you said about Rosalia. She is likeable and has charisma, beyond being able to sing well.

You meant you pronounce z as s. In Spain we pronounce the z as th, which is the original sound. If you dont know we have a town called Osuna, written with s and we pronounce it with the sound s as well.
