I really enjoyed this show. Best show ever? No. I don’t care. I liked it, LOLed a bit, and looked forward to each new episode.
When I watched the trailer I thought “oh, so it’s San Junipero + The Good Place...”, it peaked my interest a tad but the trailer felt lackluster and like a cheesy show you’d find on ABC or CBS. That said, another channel I usually trust the opinion of gave it good reviews, so I gave it a shot & honestly - it is as good as the trailer - it IS network-sitcom-y (but hey it’s on Amazon so let’s sprinkle in some unnecessary nudity & adult language), the concept is kind of interesting but honestly I just didn’t feel that invested in any of the characters or their relationships the way I was suppose to.
This was just okay for me. The main characters are simply unlikable, and the side characters who were likeable, just simply disappeared without explanation. It's hard to believe all this technology will exist in just 11 years time. I expected to see more protests from religious right in the TV show, but that didn't happen. I am also unclear if any of the conflicts were resolved.

I really liked this show not going to lie! I could never get into parks and rec so wasn’t expecting much, but this pleasantly surprised me. As you said, fantastic world building plus the characters were awesome.

I watched it the day it came out. Its a really easy watch but I did not like the ending. It was lowkey annoying. If you have nothing else to watch then go for it. Also so glad u started reviewing again i need a channel like this.
for a show that focuses on technology, it didn't pay too much attention to said technology. On top of the things said in this video, why nobody logs in to their computers and log out when leaving it unattended. why aren't there security cameras monitoring what the employees are doing.
A lot of critics hate this show because it doesn't follow the social narrative. Byron is black and he's portrayed as a douchey alpha womanizer. Nathan is white And he is portrayed as a hero. completely rebels against the media narrative. honestly I could care less either way it's a super fun show.
You lost me in first minutes. I really hate when people say they are reviewing something but are totally biased based on other work.

I didn’t like this show. Upload had an amazing idea that, although it revolves around a paradoxical situation where if you are uploaded is the upload a copy of your consciousness or the original. Which I wouldn’t have a big problem with if everything else in the show didn’t have similar problems. For instance what’s with the crappy nursing home? If you told me I could get uploaded to a virtual universe I would want something like Ready Player One not grandma’s retirement home. I you told me a crappy retirement home was waiting for me I would rather not have the virtual afterlife. If you don’t know by now video games are the things making strides in VR so it would make sense that this Upload concept should have a gaming world attached to it. The only thing close to this is the Internet cafe thing that has computers that the residents can use. Another thing that gets on my nerves is the whole “you have to pay for everything” to this I say bullshort. Literally every video game in the world only has a one time fee and that fee, naturally, is the cost of the game. The first thing that set me off to the idea that this series is gonna have massive gaps in logic was the season changing dial in the first episode. First of all does the seasons change for everyone or just him? Secondly when you go outside your room and to the ground floor does the season revert or stay? Thirdly if others can’t see the season that your seeing and you throw a snowball at them will they feel it? Lastly if others also see the season your seeing what’s the point? Just in the first episode the show throws a curveball at you. You expect a cool virtual world you can do anything in like Ready Player One and what it gives you is a crappy romcom. I would be less mad about this if it was advertised this way but it’s not. It will be great they said a virtual after life with everything you want they promised and instead you get a piece of trash illogical romcom you never wanted.
Plus "eveything cost you", but you CAN'T work. So you do not have children, enjoyed afterlife for 5 years and then what? Go into limbo 2 gig?

great video! totally agree with your comments, I would even go further to say it was very generic and not so innovative. These concepts have been tackled many times and executed much better than in the series upload. Shame, as I am also a fan of Greg Daniels!
The director of Upload plagiarized concepts & ideas from DEVS and Vanilla Sky to craft his story. He then took the title from the movie Upgrade and switched it to Upload. Seen it all before, not original...
Excruciatingly sardonic commentary on tech companies and existence in itself. This show is too depressing to get through season 1. I gave up after 7 episodes and wished the disturbing premise never crossed my mind. Stop giving Greg Daniels tv deals.

So... did ya just skip past all the scenes with the plot on the murder. I can't finish watching this review if 5 mins in ya still havent discussed the whole mystery. They left on such a great cliff hanger. what u mean love story. I do not think the love story is the main plot. This is far more interesting than a generic boy meets girl story *rolls eyes*
For me it was problem with show. Murder and afterlife should be main point, but then show run off ideas and turned full attention into romance
I agree , the beginning is very cool (a lot of ideas) but the love story at the end is very annoying.

Although I liked the show at first, yes the romance part lost me and they had this awkward murder subplot going on but yet no overall menacing character. I was following the series until they rescued the characters mainframe. After that I was like ok......" the main GF thinks he's dead, he's now back at Lakeview , did the company know he was stolen? And how is the love interest on her VR at home talking to him ? Shouldn't she be logged in only from work?

Then the ending......if someone is dead , then how can they go down in the basement and add more Gigs to someone else? No other dead characters had credit cards in the upload so how was it that the main girlfriend ......you know what forget it . I liked the series but they left alot of inconsistencies.
You are wrong here. Everyone have their own money in this world (so when you die your children do not inherit your wealth?), only MC was expection because he was broke and he even wasn't on his own account
But yeah I feel this show was wasted opportunity
