I just wanna say you're the only person making these guides that makes ANY sort of sense. Thank you for spelling it out and making sure each phase is understandable with how you explain it.
Goodness, this encounter looks HECTIC by the sheer virtue of OVERLAPPING MECHANICS. Dodge 4 Bahamuts when ABSOLUTE BLIZZARD tells you to stop and there's TWO METEORS to soak up, while the Boss is chanting TO THE LIMIT?!? Is this "Player Must Die!" phase?
hehe...Well, the boss is your doppelganger..and you are supposed to be one of the greatest warriors that ever lived..so i think thats why they made this one super hard...youve met your match essentially. He even has his limit breaks just like you do.
@Dethyl This is kind of , basic raiding. I mean yea for a normal player chilling out he may never have split the boss bar UI into 3 to better see the boss attack bar, but for people who raid a lot that stuff is basic. JP players are the same as any at savage tier, its just that they have a lot more dedication so it appears they are the ultimate players .
Honestly your guides have gotten me through my entire MSQ as an AST, and your quick recaps of what to expect has made my life so much easier. I always look forward to your concise guides and puns when I need support. Thanks!!
My group wiped twice but we kept strong. I was the off-tank. Was a great damn fight, and fantastic music made all the more amazing when you find out Soken composed it entirely from his hospital bed.
Just did this as MT, we wiped 3 times--not bad considering the plethora of mechanics. I just want to stress (because it seemed that the video did not stress it enough) that you need to Tank LB3 for the big attack after the quick time event... and that using a DPS LB on the boss is basically a waste of an LB. Otherwise a good guide, as always. They have made getting through this stuff as a new player easier.
Went in blind today as a healer, and wasnt expecting this amount of mechanics. The second phase was an absolute nightmare with all the mechanics and raid damages being thrown in altogether in rapid succession, and has the potential to OHKO or wipe the entire party or just give healers a serious migraine. The whole DF party wasnt entirely new, only 3 members were new to the trial, but we wiped at least 6 times. It was really that hard. This is the toughest trial of MSQ so far, and it is pretty fun imo. I do want to play it again sometimes to test myself. Now im here to improve and solidify my knowledge of the fight before getting back in. Thanks for the guide!
I play WHM and that's exactly why I love this channel ❤❤ . Just started ff14 a month or so ago and as a fresh 80, I NEEEED good explanations like this before I go in and let my DF teams down. (Don't have a static yet)
idk shinryu still takes the cake albeit i have no trouble with normal was pretty brutal. then again it could just be ptsd talking from EX making me refuse to see otherwise.
@@MenrvaS it was a pain but as with most things gets easier with increasing ilvl. The problem still was that it took a while to cheese even when people reached higher levels. Very traumatizing so personally I didn't care about who I played with in terms of ilvl as long as we got the mechanics down (I never really care about ilvl in the first place.).
I'm about to try this and nervous as hell. Looks like a lot to deal with. Edit: Well we got through it. It felt incredibly stressful and half of us were new it looked like. Several of the mechanics had a nasty habit of being visually overwhelming (I don't have seizures but the effects of some things basically blinded me for a couple seconds). But! My group was incredibly supportive and nice. They were awesome and made it a lot of fun in the end. My favorite was a Lalafell enthusiastically pointing to the end portal after the cutscene. It forgot to mention a few things with this. On the LB 4 it says LB yourself but does not specify which lb, in this case you want to use the tank LB otherwise you wipe. When the boss casts LB 2 one group can only take one lazer. If you move over to soak up damage for the second lazer after you have been hit with the first it will kill you. And as the comment section below says, if you DPS LB he will hallowed ground and nullify the damage in the second phase.
I haven’t played in a year because this intimidated me so much and I don’t know how to overcome the anxiety of coming back to the game knowing this is what I have to do to progress. I’d done savage trials when Shadowbringers came out and now I can’t even bring myself to get in the duty finder. I wish I could figure out what’s wrong with me.
Tbh I felt the same thing until I forced myself to do it and now all is fine, sure there are one or two wipes but at least finally I can conquer my anxiety. I hope you can get back to it soon man, cheers, forge ahead!
One thing is the community here tends to not be toxic as hell. Most that I have played with even on tougher fights stuck it out and taught the little things after a wipe.
I've been putting this off for a long time, as someone who rolled a healer for their first time playing the game... but I watched this guide and sucked it up and we got it on the first try. I raised the other healer twice and I died once at about 10% when everyone but two tanks and one dps wiped. The dps died soon after, and the two tanks finished. It was really fun and having had this video to watch beforehand was invaluable in keeping me alive for as long as I did.
This was so much help! At the start I let everyone know it was my first time since this video really made it look like I was going to need understanding (I get pug anxiety). We then wiped 3 times after coming back from the button mashing, and I quickly wrote that the vid I saw said something about needing a full heal. This clued someone in on what actually was required at this point (I'm still clueless, I played Dancer), and we went on to triumph. Thank you so much! (Also, it was a really fun trial, even with all the chaos, and everyone was very nice.)

I've been procrastinating this trial for like 3 months, havent even really played the game since I came up to it, and I've watched this video like 10 times trying to get myself ready for it but never actually running the trial. Until today. And we had a couple struggles, but we managed to pull it together and I can gladly say we beat it on first attempt. On through the patch quests and into endwalker from here.
Welp, nothing to it but to try, I suppose. Watched the guide 3 times and I'm pretty sure I still won't remember all the mechanics because there's so many, but I won't know till I try.
I know it's been a few months, but how did you do in this trial? I have a terrible time remembering mechanics and am super nervous about going in and wiping everyone.
@@catt4570 I went in as a White Mage healer, because it's the role I feel most comfortable in and I did okay. I died once due to not paying enough attention, but I managed to survive most mechs and do the right thing a little over half the time. In all fairness, I am pretty sure the other healer did most of the heavy lifting. It was hectic AF, but we pulled through on the first try. I'd say go for it and try to pay the most attention to mechs that have the potential to oneshot you. If you mess up other mechs, you'll take a beating but if you were at full HP, they don't always oneshot you. Healers might be annoyed at that, but it's better than dying. I been stalling on this one! I got the quest a few days ago about 3 AM in the morning while on my laptop traveling and staying in a hotel. I said nope logged out that session. That was like 3 days ago! I finally got home on Friday yesterday early evening. Fired up Desktop PC and logged into FF14. Shit, i'm still standing there in the dungeon lobby with all the lights as it was the first time. Thought about it, saw it was 8 man and being a Tank, said nope, logged off and went too grab dinner, then a nap. It was a long day flight from across country. Saturday morning (today) logged into FF14, crap i'm still there having to do this dungeon. Logged out after a min and proceeded to catch up on MTQcapture vids with this one as final. Thus here I am.
It's been fun watching the "time since original upload" number get smaller and smaller as I catch up in MSQ, from ARR dungeon guides being 8 years old to this just being 1 year old.
Sprout here. Just finished this bad boy and I was mortified I let us wipe two times (I was the tank) because I had no idea you had to LB3 his LB. Party was all chill though and kept cheering me on. Shoutout to the other tank (Warrior) who immediately took aggro and kept going every time I died to his mechanics like a noob.
Just went and did this last night after stalling for a few days and I only died once at one of his to the limits where we’re marked with the four huge aoe markers. Kinda difficult to coordinate as me and another person tried to run to the same corner but aside from that, everything else was pretty manageable and fun :)
I could kiss your entire team for these videos! As someone who's not great at these kinds of games, they are most appreciated!! About to start it now 😎
I was yesterday in there as a astro and I was not prepared - I thought it would be similar hard than hades or shinryu and damn I was wrong, the dmg output was really high and the mechanics were atleast for me here and there confusing :) thank you for this guide, this will help me the next time alot!
I actually managed to beat this first try, no wipes. Didn't even die like I expected to. I only got frozen once because I messed up an imbued blizzard mechanic. I think I have you to thank for that, Mizz. Edit: ALSO! You need to pop TANK LB3 when Elidibus cheats and uses LB4!
Just did this... the amount of feels in this patch is just too much... feels left and right slapping the heck outa you. Well worth the fight, was fun. Did wipe twise, once on the first fase and one on the second, still managed to do it no problem, the hardest part was the action maneuver thing.
Thank you for this helpful video. My first time doing this fight we had two other newcomers to the fight. We wiped 5 times though I died 7. Particularly gruesome as I was one of the healers. I found it tough to keep up with all the damage we were taking. Surprisingly we only wiped twice on phase 1. The sword cuttings and the Bahamuts caused us the most trouble. We did clear it however and now I need to go back and improve at it or I’ll never touch the extreme, never mind the savage. Thank you again and stay safe. ❤️
Not gonna lie. That isnt a "very obvious " pause button. I swear it looked more like Roman numerals. Had to come watch after a rough go. As always, well done video with great explanations.
Just did this for the first time today, blind. HOOOOO BOY. It was overwhelming but a great time. I'm also glad I decided to start maining Red Mage because, well, we needed those bowls of Resquick.
Thanks to this guide, I completed this trial for the first time just now I guess most of the players on the party were already experienced on the fight so it wasn't that hard However even so, some mechanic killed all of us dps, it was actually funny seeing the healers, and the tanks alone on the arena
Managed to get through this fight relatively unscathed thanks to this video! I did die once, slightly before the transition from phase 1 to phase 2, and I don't exactly know why, but other than that, it was a clean run. This was a heck of a lot of mechanics to have to try and remember, though. These 'normal' trials are getting a bit ridiculous!
Went in my first time today after being logged off for a year. I wasn't expecting the other healer to get knocked on their ass so often. Had to relearn my skills REAL quick lol. We cleared on the first try!
Just finished this one... In the beginning I went like: ooh ok, this is going well... Half way through the encounter I just went: wtf... why am I kissing the floor again... xD
I did so bad in the grand Cosmo dungeon that I’ve just bungee your walk through up to this lol it was purely because I had no idea what I was in for and this trial is by far the most necessary of getting good lol
Surprise Bahamut? Is there any other kind? XD amazing videos, saving this returning melee DPS sprout from incredibly embarrassing deaths, thank you for your videos!
Hey I think your guide's are the best, and I am waiting for the EX seat of sacrifice guide. I reached the ADD phase but no guide manages to explain the mech in a clear, understandable and well-paced manner. As always looking forward to how I can clear the EX version :)
When the tank LB3 should be casted? I mean, in the a12 is when the timer hits 3 seconds, but in this trial is a bit more confusing? Is the second he finishes charging up the 4 bar? Or a second after? Or when hi is doing the attack? When is the exact time to use the lb3?
For controller players: In the button mashing section, mashing one button will not do it. If you press all of the front buttons down you will be able to do it.
@@reissyboi7527 That's nice, but this is general advice. When I played this, other controller players were struggling with this, so it's not just me and will help others.
Never MT'd a trial in my sprout life, thought I was in for an EZ off tank dps beatdown. MT kept having connection issues so i took over at the LB3. Damn that was fun.. think I'm addicted to tanking now!
A year ago. About the time this video released. Eight blind fools rushed into this fight. Two scholars (True Walking Dead wiped us.). Most minimum item level, there for story. The only things we had heard were whispers of strategies and mechanics to expect. The fight took fourty minutes, eight wipes, and I died somewhere between eleven and fifteen times. We cleared it. Barely. And it has been stuck in my mind since. I am no longer a Black Mage. I'm a healer now. And I was terrified of going back to this fight. It was awful. It was terrible. It made me want to quit the game, and made me question buying Endwalker if future content would be that difficult. Today? I did it. Two people died. One, twice. You can't cure stupid. But you can revive them. And most of the party didn't need it. We had it. It was a solid run. Challenging, but fair. I think I like this fight now. It's definitely not as scary as when I was progressing through it for the story. Anyway, thank you for your guide. It helped a lot. I knew the mechanics already this time, but the refresher was nice. It's always nice when you're not wholly sure about going back to something like this.
When i watched this vid, my anxiety rose through the roof. I think we are going to clear it, but damn progressing through the game I still not know always when do to what, I am so terribly scared that my first try is going to be bad...
@@ozdawizz Remember that it's always okay to die a few times, and it's always okay to ask for help if you don't know what's going on. Going in blind is valid, but if you're here, you know what to expect. Deaths are likely to happen, because it's a legitimately hard fight for the MSQ, but take it from me. You got this. Look him in the eye, and tell him that his time is over. It's time to go. It's time to /rest/. And put him in the gods-blessed ground, where he and his whole civilization belong. You can do it.
@@flusterfluff 2 wipes (time manuver and LB released too early), died on my own bad timing, on Bahamut (I was sure I made it and was on safe side, but died, it had odd timing to read) but we made it :) and it was not that hard once I did it. but 2 deaths in 3 attempts I think i can count a success for the first try.
@@ozdawizz That's fantastic! From here, onward, you've got some really fun dungeons. I'm really fond of the next one you'll be in for aesthetics, and the final dungeon of the patch-quests is really mechanically satisfying! I look forward to seeing you in the Endwalker Waiting Room. You're almost there! :D
Haaa I went into this one blind because I didn't want spoilers. It was a wipefest, lol. Understood basically none of it. Figured I would come watch the guide afterward to see what all I missed! Now I'm ready to do it again!
I had this fight yesterday and managed to clear it, but the QTE was way more hard than any other I had in the game... my bar was about to deplete completely, but managed not to wipe. Anyone got tips on how to do it better next time? Using keyboard and mouse. Just don't wanna wipe a random party if I gotta do this fight ever again ~w~
I went completely blind as a AST, and omg, I died like 3 or 4 times, it was too much happening at once. However, we didn't wipe, the tanks and my co-healer did it great. They used a strategy that maybe could help you guys. When YOUR second LB is full, save it for the healers. When the four Bahamuts attack, probably a lot of you will die (or in some random point at the second phase), but one healer just have to LB and it's a win. At one point there was just three people alive, SCH used LB and we finished him. Good luck, and don't let that many mechanics scare you ^^. Everyone is super friendly, and that fight it's so much fun

I was yesterday in there as a astro and I was not prepared - I thought it would be similar hard than hades or shinryu and damn I was wrong, the dmg output was really high and the mechanics were atleast for me here and there confusing :) thank you for this guide, this will help me the next time alot!
I wish Dragalia Lost had a guide maker like you.
Sometimes I would be so lost without these lol. Thank you for making these, hopefully you'll continue in Endwalker!
oh god, my hubs and I just resubbed and we're both terrified. Thank you though for your wonderful breakdowns, as always! Very clean and concise!!
It's surprisingly straightforward, intuitive, and forgiving compared to the second boss of the dungeon before this. The Dual Star of Shadowbringers.
10 years of great content. Thanks MTQ
lord have mercy on my soul im about to do this after not playing for several months
Same lol
@@wastedkami9605 it actually wasn't that bad you got this!
Thanks to this guide, I completed this trial for the first time just now
I guess most of the players on the party were already experienced on the fight so it wasn't that hard
However even so, some mechanic killed all of us dps, it was actually funny seeing the healers, and the tanks alone on the arena
I gotta do this for MSQ and its only my 3rd day back from over a year Hiatus... THIS WILL BE FUN >.>
I vowed to not watch a guide till it was yours! Can't wait till your extreme guide
Same
Managed to get through this fight relatively unscathed thanks to this video!
By some miracle, our pug with mostly sprouts one-shotted this. What a fight!
Went into this blind and got a serious as whooping...
Just finished this one... In the beginning I went like: ooh ok, this is going well... Half way through the encounter I just went: wtf... why am I kissing the floor again... xD
Inspecting the floor ensures that it's meeting safety regulations.
the greatest thing about this awesome guide is that it was short enough for me to watch before the queue popped lol
Recently picked FF back up your guides have been amazing to watch before dungeons / trials. Appreciate the work you do and I hope you keep doing more.
This looks really fun. Looking forward to doing it today.
Been waiting for this, amazing as always.
I’m gonna be doing this soon
Thank you so much ! ❤
Lord have mercy.. about to do this right now.
The Warrior Of Light doesn't use Scholars...I feel discriminated against
Had to double check I didn't click on the Extreme version.
I took a break for 4 months and left off here. Guess this will help me relearn how to play. Got this😅
thank you for your guides, they're amazing
Hey I think your guide's are the best, and I am waiting for the EX seat of sacrifice guide. I reached the ADD phase but no guide manages to explain the mech in a clear, understandable and well-paced manner. As always looking forward to how I can clear the EX version :)
Been waiting for yours! thanks!
I only have neo-ishgardian gear and I'm at this part, should I work on getting better gear first before doing this trial?
Nah. Your fine. Upgrade it to the 490 Neo ish in Eulmore though
Neo-ishgardian is more than you need to finish this trial you be fine.
You can do all the endgame content with that armor.
Thanks for the video! It was very useful.
When the tank LB3 should be casted? I mean, in the a12 is when the timer hits 3 seconds, but in this trial is a bit more confusing? Is the second he finishes charging up the 4 bar? Or a second after? Or when hi is doing the attack? When is the exact time to use the lb3?
Just use it after the game says "transcend your limits"
First fight I’ve faced as a healer that required two full party wipes before I beat it with a Duty Finder group.
Holy HELL! Every MSQ trial prior to this, seems to have been cake. This one makes my head hurt....
For controller players: In the button mashing section, mashing one button will not do it. If you press all of the front buttons down you will be able to do it.
I managed to do it mashing one button easily, even after letting it drop to around 20% because I got distracted, you're just too slow
@@reissyboi7527 That's nice, but this is general advice. When I played this, other controller players were struggling with this, so it's not just me and will help others.
This is true. At least, using a controller on PC. I thought I was going to break mine trying to make it register
Thanks, I was struggling to do this on my controller.
You kick butt big time with your videos, they are so fun t I watch and educational as well.
thank you, very clean and easy strategy
An tank LB3 being needed? WHAT IS THIS?! I'm crying of joy.
Haaa I went into this one blind because I didn't want spoilers. It was a wipefest, lol. Understood basically none of it. Figured I would come watch the guide afterward to see what all I missed! Now I'm ready to do it again!
This isn't a fight I ever want to see again! Lol, this is just too much going on for one encounter, Square...
Just switched to a sage main. Saw this video laughed and swapped to RDM
Didn’t wipe and didn’t die. Great success.
This fight LOL. I forgot to limit break so wiped once. Second time around smooth sailing. Thanks for the guide!
I had this fight yesterday and managed to clear it, but the QTE was way more hard than any other I had in the game... my bar was about to deplete completely, but managed not to wipe.
Anyone got tips on how to do it better next time? Using keyboard and mouse.
Just don't wanna wipe a random party if I gotta do this fight ever again ~w~
my way of mashing for QTE is remembering that i can hit more than 1 button, so i just like 8 finger mash across the whole keyboard
Everyone is super friendly, and that fight it's so much fun
i just wanna say how this video helped me! thank you so much for the time you put on this!
with the pause button marker - do dots count as an action? should I only do DD or is it "new casts" that would count?
I'm afraid of how the extreme is going to be.
I feel like 8 mechanics got crammed into the last 30 seconds of the video
Thanks for the info as always!
That GNB got murdered at 2:09
And this is why people have been transitioning away from GNB.
@@tek512 that is assuming a lot from 2 seconds. He had sub 50% hp and might not have used a cd.
Your giude helps me alot in these trials
Watched this guide, went to a club in Shirogane instead.
just finished it, that was fun lol bit of a mess at the beginning with having to heal everyone super fast but they did great the second time
