I really, really love this car. BUT as you said, the price is too high. As an owner of a current ST3, the benefits are very small for a lot of cash... But it's still an awesome car 😃

I have a ST with the Mountune MP215 package and it's a banging little car. Could I be in a bigger, more comfortable car with more power? Easily. But on the small backroads that I spend most of my time, this car is a perfect fit. Love it!

You're the first person to ever say the RS has bad torque steer
It was on an extended test drive on some fairly uneven b roads - accelerated hard in 2nd to 3rd and it was extremely hard to hold a straight track - a function more of the road surface and wide tyres 'tracking to follow the road surface'.. so take care if in a similar situation - on smooth tarmac = no probs! enjoy.
People keep interchanging the terms torque steer and bump steer. You just did the same.
Okay - sorry about that, but the fact remains - torque steer or bump steer - neither are acceptable at this level.
Yes, I agree that it is concerning, but once you gain some experience and learn the car's characteristics it is as simple as gripping the steering wheel tighter. I kid you not.

I really want to love this, but I really dislike the paintwork - are they going to offer the ST200 in Spirit Blue? Best colour imo. If not then I'll likely go for a Focus ST when I trade my Fiesta ST in. I can't justify spending £32K on a Focus RS...

I'm made 300ftlb's on the stock turbo at the wheels. I want to pull the fishing boat one day just to freak people out. That paint is terrible and the wheels are nasty. I have the grado's and they are gross too but, those black ones are worse. 500 bucks gets you a Cobb accessport and you have this power level whenever you want it. Make sure you get the rear motor mount too, it only takes like 20 minutes to install.
how come this car is a three door? The only ones i can find now are five doors....?

I'm thinking about getting one they average between 14k to 17k. I'm ideally looking for one around 30 thou miles. Do they have a sport button or anything? Seen a few with stage kits too I'm probably looking at a standard one

@@SHEARMINATORyou can get a normal ST for far cheaper and open up the gearbox to put in the 4.3:1 final drive. If you get a mid year 2016+ everything will then be completely identical to the ST200. You can even put in an LSD while you're there and end up with a better car for less money.

Yes and no, the model is almost 10 years old now so there is a completely new model around the corner.
Meaning this is the last "new" ST of this model generation.
lets hope the new ST when it comes does not go lower again in engine size. i loved the mk 6 2.0 ST
1.6L still goes faster, and performs better. No quibbles from me. Would be nice to see the 2.0L again, but bear in mind the RS is 2.3L!

Honestly doesn't need it. Handling is really good. Also ford wants to keep cost down. A halfway decent quife unit is over $1000.00

Drive one, they don't need one under any circumstances. The torque vector works that well.
+Terry Dolan It definitely needs one if you plan on tracking the car at all. It uses the brakes for the vectoring, and since they're working double, they get overheated and fade very easily. You can slam the brake from 80 to 0 around 8 or 10 times with consistency, but after that it's all fade
You don't need an LSD if you have sorted front suspension. Keeps price and weight down.
Fiesta ST is already such a good car!! Speaking of power, have a look at my channel - to see a race Fiesta ST vs Honda Civic Type R 2016 and you will be surprised who wins.
Fish Filet Ha ha, Thanks Fish fillet, the 135i was coming for me. He did 229km/h on the 1km. So fairly quick. But if you can get the edge you can stay ahead for 400m :) thats till end of 4th gear.. which is most of a race usually.

I don't know why they don't design these hot hatches with a bit fatter tires. The tires on this thing look tinny & out of place.
KriZm KrOp The skinny tires are better for fuel economy, and speed, steering feel, and handling. I bet theyre very light. They try to use just enough for the hp.
Everytime I see the Fiesta ST, I see some similarity to a puppy. It's small, quick, nimble, fun, and it creates a big smile on your face.
If you've driven an ST200 you will never downgrade! Worth every penny!

It looks like regular food, but really tiny (lil 'bits).
I love how Britain advertises power without overboost, even though its basically almost impossible to run out of overboost time as the timer resets every time you shift.
So really the regular ST has 197hp, and the ST200 has 212.
not really. overboost only works on third and fourth gear on Fiesta ST

If you buy the MP215 kit from Mountune for a regular Fiesta ST, it retains the factory overboost function so that the 215ps and 236 lbft are achieved on overboost, not all of the time. The ST200 basically comes fitted with MP215 kit as standard. Ford call it an ST200 because they are only allowed to advertise what the car makes "all" of the time, which is the 200ps. Mountune can advertise it as a 215 kit because they are not bound by the same rules as a large car company.

It is not just more power, it is shorter gearing, nearly fully equipped, differant steering gearing, different dampers and the new generation of springs and the great colour.

@@GoGoggansGo i got it less 42%, because my best friend works for Ford in Cologne 😅 but i also read much about the equipment options. If you bought ja ST182 and chooses the same equipment in that little rocket, it would not have been much cheaper than the ST200. Heard about only 600€ at normal price. Nevertheless, i really had to buy it with 42% less. Also got my Focus RS with that 42% less ✌😅

@@Nyle95 no heated windshield, no cruise control and not that camera for driving reverse. That's all what was missing as basic ST200 as I remember. Of course you could choose these options. I didn't choose them.
Really wish they would have put in a LSD on this car, I think it would have justified the price tag.

Yes you do push a button? It reduces the T/C to 20% increases throttle response, increases TVC and makes the steering sharper?
@Carfection...Mountune adds 15 bhp. It still has overboost so std is 200 bhp and overboost is 215. It doesn't run at 215 permanently.
So..... Ford are selling these ST200 for over £22,000? This car platform is nearly 10 years old. Ford need to sort their shit out.

It's an affordable small car. Really because here they try to sell them for $30,000 and I REFUSE to pay that cash for a Fiesta. Focus ST's are even more and it's a joke. So is it a good car? Yes but deserving of the price tag? No.
Just how a Golf R is way overpriced for what it offers. Same with a BMW M3/M4 You have to look past a brand and advertising to get bang for your buck. Yet these companies make countless trips to the bank with their trademarked up-marked product.
So what would you buy for $30,000?

No point replacing my Fiesta ST with a ST200. I hade mine for 3 years now and the car been 100% reliable. 100% satisfaction for my ownership. Still thinking what my next car is, a Focus RS or M135i....
People who complain about torque-steer confuse and scare me.

The torque steer is actually really bad on the ST215 with ESC off AT TIMES. But only on bad country roads. I drive a few on my way home and first time I thought the surface looked OK and accelerated too hard - with hands on the wheel it's desperate to put you into the middle of the road or the bush. Nothing throttle control doesn't solve, but it did surprise me!
Any other roads I've had literally no issues at all. 90 degree corners at full power, roundabouts at great pace and all it does is step the back out! Can't rate it highly enough!

I'm super-interested in getting myself one. The thought of just being able to muscle the car into a corner is very appealing to me. Like a modern-day DC2 Integra Type R.
You can go nuts with it if you want. As long as you can drive you will be fine. But if you want to put your foot to the floor all the time you will literally come unstuck.
I like being able to throw it around a corner and blast it out with a rush of induction noise.
The average driver may be shocked the car tries to follow imperfections too eagerly though. One handed steering is difficult on the wrong road, for example!

Great car and great review! When you tune these things they have the same power to weight ratio as a lotus elise. That's insane for the money. I would love a review on a mustang ecoboost from you guys (preferably a tuned one). I think you would find yourself rather surprised.

Sat in one at the dealer just for the hell of it. Man it's just awful inside. Put the focus rs drivetrain in a fiesta and I will buy one no matter how awful the interior looks.

St215 loses the overboost (always on - which is better), and adds ridiculous induction noise to the mix. It's also far cheaper and in better colour choices. Seems like a no-brainer!

Yep, it's the same car, different manner of abbreviation. It's what I drive now; the induction noise is all kinds of silly for a fiesta!
For the price I'd just buy a normal Focus ST, put on Cobb's stage 3 package (tune, downpipe, catback, intercooler), lightweight wheels + sticky tires and some proper KW or H&R coilovers. You'd get a ton more performance (both straight line, and in the bends) for the same cash.

That's how they do it when two words are pronounced with a vowel. Like Honda-r Accord. There are exceptions though, like Subaru Impreza.
