Not sure if you've tried it but adding a little water to the dry brush makes the dry brush effect much smoother. Sounds weird to wet a dry brush but it really does work. Basically i add a few drops to a sponge and just tap the brush on the sponge a little before adding the paint. Removing the excess paint using something that isn't absorbent is key. So glass pallet, a tile, plastic or a diy dry brush pallet (i just pva down a bunch of sprues and spare bits onto a plastic lid). Adds more time but you can also do a grey before doing the white which will give the slap chop even more depth.
Your videos made me come back to painting using the slapchop technique. Love the low effort and the speed of it, keep bringing more ispirational videos!!
When we were little a long long time ago (1950s). Mum made a bit of cash painting plastic soldiers, cowboys and indians etc. On rainy days she would spread old newspapers on the table and set us off painting just one colour at a time. Eg black boots and hats. Kept us quiet while she worked in the kitchen.
I am starting painting and I didn't know where to start. Your videos really help me get a direction and inspiration to get where I would like to go as a miniature painter. Thank you.
Comment for the comment god! But yeah, that turned out better than I thought it would. Gives me confidence to slapchop a tank I have for Shadows of Brimstone
Little tip I picked up doing chaos knights. Trying doing your metallic drybrush before the dirty down rust then focus your rust on metallic areas. If you think about rust on a painted object, it forms where the paint has been removed and the metal exposed. If you haven’t yet, try using AK streaking grime too. It ads a whole new level to the looks of a rust bucket.
keep in mind people you don't need to use expensive kolinsky sable brushes for 95% of this type of work! its pretty hard on them using them this way, just use regular cheap brushes.
Great video - and thanks for the long play! Been umming and ahhing about slapchop but after this i think i'll be giving it a try! The model looks absolutely amazing :D
Thanks for the video. I’ve been picking up several of the McFarlane Warhammer 40k Artist Proof figures cheap on Amazon and I think this technique might be the way to go with them.
New to painting minis and I was told to check you out and so far super happy with the video!! Thank you!! Would love to see you do some zombies from zombicide
That looks like galvanized steel wire that is used for chicken wire fences. The wire comes in a few different gauges and varies in how easy it is to work with depending on what gauge wire you purchase. It should be available in most countries for a fairly affordable price. You can find that wire in most home improvement stores, garden centers / stores. Just look for a store that sells garden supplies.
this is awesome . I love orks been painting up a bunch of rogue trader era stuff myself , been very tempted to get some those mr Modulorka stuff they look so cool , I hope you paint up the awesome looking Ork At-At or Fortress Walka he's doing.
don't put transfers in water, it'll wash off the adhesive. instead use a damp paper towel or cloth, put the paper on and once they move, transfer them on the model. use decal mediums, e.g. Microscale Micro Set/Sol...and varnish them, before you use spiritbased paints on them, else they might become damaged beyond repair.
That’s armature wire. Used for creating armatures for clay sculptures. That looks like a medium gauge strength. That’s an awesome model. Could see myself building that. I got quite a few things at the Black Friday sales. Got a sable brush set for $25 AU. A dry brush set for only $15 AU. One of those brush rinser gadgets for $13 AU. A pack of 36 acrylic paints for $36 AU. A pack of 36 acrylic paint pens for $24 AU. And finally a cheap airbrush for $29 AU which is actually quite nice as it has all the pro features on it. Recently got Marvel Zombies Zombicide so I’m looking forward to painting that up.
Do you ever start with a zenithal highlight before the dry brushing? I usually prime black, zenithal grey, then white dry brush (or white spot zenithal).
Great stuff! Don't know that slapchop can work that well with large flat surfaces! By the way, what glue you're using? Is this is a some kind of cyalanocrylate?
Great video, thank you! Quick question - what adhesive are you using? I've not seen any that come in the bottle like that before for resin and it looks faster than gorilla glue (plus more precise on application). Keep up the great work!
As requested, hi how you doing ? Haha Thank You for inspiration as always really appreciate your slapchop how to videos. Looks like I’ll get to paint my Ork combat patrol after all!
I don't know if you ever played the old game "Heroquest", but Avalon Hill brought it back. I would love to see what you could do with the minis that come with it.
Hiho buddy, i bet you hit the 100k really soon :) I know you are a huge fan of orks from Modulaork, could you maybe test for us the Street Pack of him ? It looks awesome and i guess it could be something for you :) And happy first Advent Sunday ! :)
Cheers, all printers are good but I love the GK2 because of the heated bed, my printer is in a very cold place and the prints would fail if it didnt heat up ► GKTWO 3D Printer bit.ly/400obSq Use code - hobby to get save $80

My daughter and I are going to be painting minis for the 1st time this summer and you make it look real easy!
Definitely a channel I've needed...thanks for reigniting the joy of the hobby for me 😊!

I enjoy listening to you waffle. Your videos have a calming effect.
I've watched many videos about "slap-chop". Your videos actually convinced me to try it. Thank you for that!
Ahh thats great to hear, its made me love painting miniatures 🙂
Your slapchop work is awesome - this is giving me inspiration to tackle some bigger models I have with this style.
Thats great to hear, have fun with it 🙂
I have a disability that makes painting minis really challenging, so I enjoyed watching this and living vicariously!
I love your kit bashing and all the orky things you create. You have given me some different techniques to try
Enjoyed your video very much. In focus and showed unblocked brush strokes. Fantastic.
Love Modulork’s work and this is a perfect showcase of how to highlight his sculpts quickly while achieving quality. Solid thumbs up!
Looking forward to that one shot painting. Thanks for showing how easy it is to paint with speed paint.

how do you store/house everything you make - your house must be MASSIVE !
Love this painting technique - thanks for sharing
That diorama is EPIC!
Thank you so much 🙂

Cheers for the tips, I will take a look at the streaking grime 🙂
You make it look so easy, very inspiring. Keep up the good work
Great job doing the drybrush technic. Keep it up you are great.
Never painted a mini before but order all the marvel zombicide recently. When I get to painting them I'm going to try this speed paint.
Love this Chopper.
It is cool 🙂
really nice to see speed paints used on a big vehicle - Im going to start a landraider but not sure how, now I have a better idea
what a great print.. and the painting is fantastic!
keep in mind people you don't need to use expensive kolinsky sable brushes for 95% of this type of work! its pretty hard on them using them this way, just use regular cheap brushes.
The more expensive the tool the better the result. Skill and talent is not important at all.
This was a fun video, I'm just getting back into painting minis after a decade or 2 off. Thanks for some insperation
That looks terrific mate. I've been thinking of painting some bigger gear like that....... Time to give it a shot!
Great video - and thanks for the long play! Been umming and ahhing about slapchop but after this i think i'll be giving it a try! The model looks absolutely amazing :D
That thing is amazing!
This is definitely pretty cool and amazing painting job.
Thanks from a beginner painter! 🎉
Thanks for the video. I’ve been picking up several of the McFarlane Warhammer 40k Artist Proof figures cheap on Amazon and I think this technique might be the way to go with them.
Keep it up man, good stuff all around
Looks awesome and great mini 👍🏼
The very final guide !
Brilliant, all I can hear is “The Ride of the Valkyries” and a bucket full of apocalypse now
great video mate. love the format
Thank you so much 🙂
New to painting minis and I was told to check you out and so far super happy with the video!! Thank you!! Would love to see you do some zombies from zombicide
awesome job i enjoyed that
I’m a 40K Tau player. I’d like to see a Battlesuit painted with slap chop. Any color scheme would be great.
Awesome Job! Love your stuff.
Cheers buddy 🙂
Great work!
Love your videos. Do you have a video demonstrating your priming technique? Thank you.
Looks great, mate! Well done!!
Thank you so much 🙂
Looks good!
Hello Jon. I saw some figures on a UK model website that were space hogs. They reminded me of orks but they were humanoid pig bikers.
I was looking for inspiration to paint my large Battletech army.
I think I found it!
Oo, would be great to see you dip some Mechs!
awesome vid. this wil realy help me
Came out great!
Cheers 🙂
Love the content. Good luck on your journey to 100k! 👍
Thank you, Im getting there slowly 🙂
Always love your vids 👍🏻👍🏻
fun video. keep up the good work

Always enjoy your painting vids - keep going - and Merry Christmas! - just in case I dont comment between now and Christmas Day!!
Needed more red for speed! :D
Great build, awesome job slapping the paint!
Haha yup, I should have done that 🙂
Nice video. Good job.
Hey hope everything’s well thank you for the videos keep up the good work John 😃❤️
Great model
It is awesome 🙂
I think for the step where you drybrush silver on the green you might get a better effect if you dab on the silver with a bit of sponge.
Thanks for sharing!
Outstanding job....
Thank you so much 🙂
this is awesome . I love orks been painting up a bunch of rogue trader era stuff myself , been very tempted to get some those mr Modulorka stuff they look so cool , I hope you paint up the awesome looking Ork At-At or Fortress Walka he's doing.
Cheers, Im printing out the At At as I type lol, it does look awesome 🙂
What white do you use for the dry brushing?
Good stuff!
Really enjoyed the video. Will you be painting any of the new Warhammer Old World range. Be great to see you tackle Tomb Kings.
Cheers, Im not sure what models they are but will take a look 🙂
Could you try and hydro-dip some magic portal? I think it would look great in blue and white.
Great job

Micro set/sol combo make decals look SO FREAKIN' GOOD!
I put them on my wet pallet.
ahh okies, I might try that next time, cheers 🙂

You should really give the Vallejo xpress paints a try, keep up the great work.
Why change when you're comfortable with one brand already?
Love it 🤩
Great stuff!
Don't know that slapchop can work that well with large flat surfaces!
By the way, what glue you're using? Is this is a some kind of cyalanocrylate?
Love your pallete with the 'dips' for speed paints and the dry brushing board. did you design this? can you share the STL? cheers
Cheers, yeah I 3D printed it and the stl is over on my patreon page 🙂
Great video, thank you! Quick question - what adhesive are you using? I've not seen any that come in the bottle like that before for resin and it looks faster than gorilla glue (plus more precise on application). Keep up the great work!
Cheers, its cheap glue from amazon but I use these amzn.to/47X6JRK on the end of the glue bottles for more precision 🙂
Stunning model and a solid paint scheme 👍🏼. Hopefully you will print out the new Star Wars modulork vehicle
cheers, I am printing it out as I type this lol, it looks amazing 🙂

I havent played it but will take a look 🙂
@@MiniatureHobbyist I just watched the video for it! Thank you for checking it out, it really made my day!
Awesome. 😍
I'm very much learning miniature painting. Does the quality of the brush make a difference with speed paints?
Brilliant model more Ork stuff please
Are the rosemary and co brushes synthetic?
Soo Cool.
Cheers 🙂
Hiho buddy, i bet you hit the 100k really soon :) I know you are a huge fan of orks from Modulaork, could you maybe test for us the Street Pack of him ? It looks awesome and i guess it could be something for you :) And happy first Advent Sunday ! :)

Hello!
How are you?
Very well.
Thank you.
Are you using Speedpaint 2.0 or OG?
Awesome Vid :)
what is that tray you are using for the paints?
It would be very nice to see your technique applied to D&D minis! :)
Im just painting the miniatures from the HeroQuest box 🙂
Cool👍
Nice work, how about a dragon next?
So I'm a new painter to minatures and I still need some new brushed and stuff but I want to do this with my ahsoka for star wars legion any suggestions?
