From what I remember, Max took this fight on less than one weeks notice. This was his UFC debut as well so he was basically a last minute fill in and likely wasn’t physically or mentally prepared enough for this level of competition. He gassed out after the first and got beat down in the second round. Dana White actually defended him in the press conference after the event. Basically saying when a fighters done, they are done. No point in getting further damaged to just appear tough. @@birddaddydetta fair enough. But his team doesn’t recover from damage to his brain and body, his team doesn’t adapt to new ways of life as a result of what happens in the cage. That’s a decision only he can make and ultimately live the rest of his life with. @@dharmalock5032 But his team prepared him for this, spend a lot of time and energy to get him where he is at that moment. And all that to hear from him: "Call it. I don't have it". These guys are warriors and risking their life out there. Sometimes the toughest decision is quitting but he knows his body and is the one taking the punishment it’s for him to decide. So many people have taken extra damage hoping for that one miracle punch to get the win that never ended up happening. His coach did right by trying to keep him optimistic and ready.
Max has come out after the fact that he was very depressed after this and stopped training for a while, deleted his social media and didn’t leave his home. He realized he needed to work on himself mentally and that he was fighting for all the wrong reasons. Now he has started training again and I think has a fight coming up in a smaller promotion.
@Dr.Sir Bruce Armstrong Mother Fucker The Third that’s amazing to hear!! I didn’t do any research of his fights after all this. Last I heard he was looking to fight again and had something booked. Happy to see he’s back on the grind and racking up wins again. Hope he makes it back to the UFC.

Apparently this kid took this fight on 5 days notice and wasn't even in the UFC up until he got the call for this fight. It was just more than he expected since his earlier fights hadn't made it past the first round.
@@idontevenknow7264 that's his mma record not what his UFC record was when he took this fight, this was his first UFC fight.
@@idontevenknow7264 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ bro what
Who is this guy
I forget his name, max something. This was his fight with Austin Hubbard, who's a beast. Max looked pretty dominant in round 1, but Hubbard is a beast with great cardio & outlasted the storm, really snowballed in the 2nd round, max gassed hard & this video was right after that round. Super short notice, plus being pretty young, plus not having many fights overall, plus having millions of people watching you for the first time, plus fighting a solid opponent will do it
Also, I understand it's his corners job to try and reassure him in this moment, but it was rough to see Max have to tell the ref he was done. That's gotta be so embarrassing for a professional killer to have to do.
“I don’t want to do this anymore.” Protect your fighter at all times get him out of there his mind isn’t there
He is protecting his fighter, the fighter is gonna regret at this all his life because he was kicked of UFC after left the fight...
Tell that to GSP when he complained about his groin and after his coach told him straight he went out there and won the fight!
Tell that to Muhammad Ali. He told his trainer before early on in his career to throw in the towel. The trainer never did.
It’s called encouragement by the way. This fighter will regret it.
@@nicesba id rather see him not getting even more severe beatings unless he wants to get concussions or worst paralysis... hell the coach only knows to stay out of the cage and count his money.
Didn’t this guy, “Max” take this fight on a short notice? If I remember correctly, he didn’t even get to undergo a full training camp and wasn’t conditioned at all for this fight. It was heartbreaking because he was considered a top prospect.
Who is he?
@@IMiLLskiLL I don’t really know but I think he is a new comer into the UFC. But I think Dana White said he didn’t like quitters and cut him after this fight.
@@IMiLLskiLL max rohskopf. Was a big prospect, and was undefeated prior to this. Dana cut him after this. He is back in fighting tho, in Cage Warriors.
"He was considered a top prospect" lol, no, no he wasn't.
@@htownallday281 I thought he was… 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Working your entire life busting your ass to fulfill a lofty goal that many could never hope to achieve, finally making it and then realizing once you’re there you really aren’t built like that. It fucking sucks man.
Mad respect to him. Knowing he’s done and not stupid enough to continue with the fight and risk serious injury!
That's me everyday fighting with my alarm clock at 7am in the morning
I wish!! that's me fighting to get back to work at the moment (lung injury from a car crash)
7am?!?! I get up at 4am every day!! I know what you’re saying!!
For those wondering his name is "max rohskopf" he was a replacement figher, he got cut after this loss and is fighting in cage warriors. He hasn't lost since and is currently on a 2 fight winstreak.
Edit: He got signed to belator!
Edit 2: He got tkoed in belator ☹️
Edit 3: From what I can tell, as of November 2023 he's still signed with Bellator, but has no fight booked nor does it seem he'll have one anytime soon.
I hope he keep the winning streak and return to the big leagues when he ready.
why was he cut off?
@@DingleNuttsBergtheII he was an untested fighter who got completely outclassed in his debut. Usually they cut people who don't perform well in they're debut regardless of whether or not it was a short notice fight.
@@Mmarules that make sense
Thanks mate, I wish m well. Belator, delighted for m.
Brutally honest, my guy just called it .
Non-fighters will never know how hard even the training is, much less how painful a beating is. Even when you win, you lose. Much respect to everyone, from journeyman to champion who risk it all.
💯🙏❤️
Journey man? Wouldn't that be amateur
Help me speak Cantonese
@@ailbrown1000 No....? Journeyman "a worker or sports player who is reliable but not outstanding."
Literally nowhere does it equate one to being an amateur. There are Journeyman amateurs, and Journeyman professionals in all sports.... not everyone can be a Muhammad Ali or Mike Tyson.
A well known (and now banned) Journeyman fighter was Luis Resto
Thank you. Hope you did well in your grade school Taekwondo tournaments.
You skipped the best part. Ref comes up and asks if the kid wants to fight. He says no and the ref immediately blows it off. The professionallity is of the charts.
His coach was trying to motivate him not to quit. No matter how badly beaten in a fight you are there is always a chance to come back no matter how slim.
@@serialchiler Yes I know. I'm not bashing the coach here. I'm saying the ref is very professional.
The coach was in the wrong here. You can only try so much. It was clear he wasn't wanting to fight. If he couldn't change his mind before the break ended, he should have called it.
@@BearMetro why does someone have to be in the wrong? Everyone did their job
@@charliebackman7968 I’m with you
He's smart. He knows his limit. Like the ref has said million times "Protect yourself at all time."
Even in between the rounds
That’s not what the ref means.
@@NemeanLion- so, what does the ref mean?
@@MrHeat48 It means to never let your guard down. There have been many times where a fighter has hit on a break or has complained to a ref, leaving his guard down. It’s another way of saying to protect yourself from being hit, even if you think you’re safe.
@@NemeanLion- no protect yourself at all times means protect yourself. You have no idea what this guy is going through. He knows his body and his limits. If he knows he is outclassed, its better to NOT take the damage that could be life long.

He certainly shouldn’t be coaching.
I've seen this shit in boxing for years. Greedy managers who want to keep getting their cut until their fighter drops dead.
This kid's family should haul that coach out a back door and beat the living shit out of this coach before one of his prospects dies in the cage.

When you agree to show up to a social event, but now it's actually time to go

It takes a lot of strength to accept his loss and have the balls to quit a fight. Respect to this guy!!
@@NIJO-tz7zp say he fought this fight, lost, and got seriously injured. What the fuck cares if he's got balls? He's done. That isn't what happened. He's still fighting today and doing well. "For people to come out and say that he was wrong in that situation(Coach Robert Drysdale), there's literally no debate or discussion about it," Rohskopf said. "At the end of the day, I'm the one paying him. And that's what I wanted him to do. And that's what I expected him to do. And if I was cornering someone else, that's exactly what I would have done. There's really no discussion about it. Rob did the right thing, and he's always done right by me."
“I’ve done this my whole life,” Rohskopf explained. “I’ve self-boycotted myself. Even when I was wrestling in high school, I was the best in the state and ended up getting third because I self-boycotted myself. I was one of the best guys in the country in college, was never an All-American when it counted, because I was telling myself that, for whatever reason, I don’t deserve it.
“That’s exactly what I did in my fight with Austin. Sh*t got hard, and I looked at my coach and said, ‘I don’t want to be here anymore.’ Not because I didn’t want to be there, but because I didn’t think I deserved to be there.”
