    Date: 24.01.2022
Participants: Students of "Selected issues of philosophy" seminar at the Centre for East European Studies University of Warsaw (lecturer: dr. Stepan Ivanyk)
    The main question discussed:
IS VIOLENCE EFFECTIVELY LIMITED IN CONTEMPORARY INTERNATIONAL ORDER?
For example, while wars were encouraged in the 19th century, they became banned on a few occasions in the 20th century. But does it necessarily mean that we are living in a more peaceful world compared to people living a hundred years ago?
This was an example of how INTERNATIONAL LAW could govern international order. Two competing schools that interpret international relations are REALISM and LIBERALISM. They both explain how peace is maintained in the international order. Therefore, you will learn to look at international politics through the lenses of both theories.
