My greatest influence was my dad, he left school at 12 to work on a farm, he used to have to get up at stupid o'clock every morning to get the shire horses ready for work & worked with horses for many years before leaving farm work & becoming a drainage engineer, he never had a day off sick in his working life, when he retired we built a large workshop where we worked on different projects, nothing was ever thrown away & replaced it was simply repaired, he taught me a good, strong work ethic, to be proud of my work, to respect my elders, peers & women, especially woman for they give us life. Sadly we lost him to Covid last year, 98yrs young & will be forever missed. Who was your greatest influence??

The biggest influence in my life has to be my great uncle jeemie he taught me about crofting up here in Shetland !
He even took me to Canada to see our relatives on Vancouver island because I had helped him with the sheep for years and never asked for a penny experience was the best payment I won’t starve because of him lately I’ve not had animals or tractors but I have the land and house which I’m refurbishing and look back on old pictures of here with them ploughing with the horse !will get back to Croft life again and enjoy it great video again Lord muck made my day seeing new tyres that look right 👍

Single biggest influence on my life, George Lock, my Dad, mentor, teacher, protector and overall great bloke. Served my apprenticeship under him at Costessey Electrical though I'd already been on jobs with him since I was about 8 years old. I was working with him weekends while other silly buggers were playing footy.
He taught me how to work hard and do well.

Lovely news about the donation for the collie's!

Nice bit of green at the end of the fudweasel update 👌

    Biggest influence on my life?
Probably my old workshop foreman when I was an apprentice - turned a young, lost, angry young lad into a responsible man/engineer.
Taught me HOW to think, not WHAT to think.
Started as my boss, than my mentor and quickly a friend.
He passed away sadly, early last year, but I luckily had the the honour of returning a final favour by doing the eulogy at his funeral even though I hadn't seen him for a few years.
God bless ya Jimmy Twinn, luv ya always x

Greatest influence in my life was without doubt my old dad. He was my best friend, mate, we restored countless items together, including tractors, stationery engines, Cars, Land Rover, lawnmowers, attended loads of auctions, rallies and shows together, drove to and took part in ploughing matches with our own equipment. Carried out house maintenance / building wherever necessary. He taught me everything I know and needed to know. Dad passed away December 2018 - life just hasn’t been the same since, I miss him so much!

My mother had a friend who had built his own yacht and he taught me to sail and helped me buy my first boat, although boating in general became a big part of my life, his enthusiasm for life was infectious. At the end of the day, you can't teach a child anything but you can encourage them to learn.

He guided me through so much to do with agriculture, mechanical knowledge, patience, and the other great influence was my old dog Jack,a cocker spaniel that taught me more about myself than anything else that has had an effect on my life.he also taught me quite alot about shooting,he knew before I raised the gun whether he was going to be busy or not.

    My father.
Because watching how he dealt with people showed me how to respect others and how and who you could trust. He also never covered up or hid his mistakes only showed me how to learn from them and not to lose my head. As there is always again I could go on all night but I'm just one of the lucky ones as not everyone is lucky enough to have a dad or that special person to influence them for the big bad world.

My Dad. I miss him so much. He grew up on a farm that was selected in 1864 by my GGGgrandfather in Bellingen, NSW Australia. It was pretty much Dairy and cattle country with spuds, sorghum on the higher flat areas and and a few banana crops here and there. I was born in Sydney, the first of my family not to be born in Bellingen. My Dad left the Navy in 1956 and promptly made me. His life on the farm steadied me growing up in a City in a way that others of my generation could have used. I know he kept me on the rails. He was excellent with his hands and could build anything. He knew farming. He was a hard man. He was my Dad.

biggest influence in my life my doctor. i had a whole load of medical condtions when i was young and ended up getting cured of cancer in my 30s,the following is true. he was constantly drunk, he was an excellant doctor, his surgery was a man cave, you sat in a chair in the middle of the examination room, you looked at guns hung on the wall amino everywhere, fishing rods on another, stuffed animals on another, and a salmon in a case, the rifle in the corner, and behind you a selection of carpenter tools, this man was a doctor, was into shooting, fished, made things from wood and drank a lot, and cured me, yip Rip "Mac", greatest man ever.

My Dad was the one that I learned the most from. He worked in farming for 55 years. I loved sitting on the toolbox of his grey Fergie as a kid and later on helping out on the farm, repairing tractors and machinery was what I liked the most and that’s what I’ve done for a living since I was 16, unfortunately passed away a few years ago. The bloke that I never met who influenced me was good old Fred Dibner. I used to love watching him on tv weather knocking a chimney down or repairing his steam engine. Both my Dad and Fred are still my heroes even now I’m 58 years old 😀😀

John who introduced me to cars and the garage I now run. my old Boss Keith, legend! I’ve definitely got a little piece of him in me, or he’s boot anyway. I joined the Navy at 17, and I learned collectively from the men aboard the U.S.S. Lafayette, SSBN 616, (my first submarine) Confidence, adaptability, and owning up to mistakes. That has successfully carried me through for the rest of my life (I'm now 65).

The best piece of advice he ever gave me was to never pass up a chance to learn something new. He retired from Johnson Outboards in Waukegan, Illinois, USA as a skilled millwright with 33 years of experience. Not too bad for someone with a 3rd grade education and was functionally illiterate. He was still the smartest, most intelligent man I ever knew. RIP Gertis Parker, 1922-2002.

Morning mucker, the person who most influenced me was my grampy from my mother's side, the other lot are a bunch of c**kwombles "long story" but anyway from an early age I used to drive around the fields with our massey 130 :) and that got me hooked. By the age of 12 he had bought me my first major D, which then turned into a 2nd one too. Then because of a plank over filling the oil on a hill it blew past the rings so we sold the 2 majors and bought a super major with the money. During all of that we sold the 130 :( but then for my 16th birthday he bought me a international 434 to which I've still got at age 32 birthday was 2 days ago ;) and I used the 434 and major for muck cart contracting loading the trailers by hand and earning a nice bit of coin and respect from folk. Fast forward a good few years, my grampy is now pretty much house bound and going a bit crazy stuck indoors all the time, but I wish he knew what effect he had on me, as now for the last 13yr I've been with a good contracting team and help run a 1000+ head flock of sheep.
Keep up the good vids mucker

My biggest influence has to be my farther he has been teaching me from day 1 and over 40 years later is still. He got me into engineering from a young age and is the person I most admire and hope I can be at least half the man he is.👍

Just reading some of the comments so far and the wonderful answer is Dad, Dad and Mum, Mum and Grandad, and I will say the same Mum and Dad and a wonderful brother all passed away (brother too early at 57yrs with MND).
The underlying message is family farming the base of farming life over the world.
Keep up the good work UA-cam farmers your the family now 👍

My dad, two strokes and two heart attacks later, a man who I knew who made everything, didn’t have a tool? He would make one! Now resorted to being sat in a chair messed up, and can’t even take himself for a crap! He still my old man though and we are lucky to have him and still got his humour! He is my biggest influence

Without doubt, my biggest influence was my uncle Pete, sadly lost him about 9 years ago, the cleverest bloke I ever knew, he lost the use of his legs when he was a kid after he got polio, so walked with crutches, but it never stopped him doing anything, what he lacked with the use of his legs, he made up for with his brains. Rarely a day goes by without thinking "what would Pete make of this" or if you needed to find something out, "Pete would have known what to do"
I've just started up my own auto electrics company, and I know for a fact, if Pete was still alive, he'd be sat in the van with me, giving me a hand. Not many people earn the term legend, but he certainly did.

The one person who really influenced me when i was young was Sir Douglas Bader, I used to live down the road from him in Marlston and my brother and I would always pop up during the weekends and mow his lawns we would talk for ages about his antic's during the second war.. but one thing he always said.. If you put your mind to something you will achieve it look at me I have tin legs but i still got to fly spitfires and hurricanes and i had fun well that was until i got shot down !! but during his stay with the Germans he said he still had fun pissing them off lol.. It was a sad day when he passed away in 82..

Nice set of new shoes on the Ford there Mucker , and like many on here its got to be my old dad , went far too soon at 60 but worked all the hours he could get just so that we would have a better life than he had as a youngster just before WW2 .
Hopefully some of that has rubbed off on to me and that I can be a good influence to others in the same way.

My best influence is my dad. He taught me to lay bricks at 8, taught me to drive at 11, got me in diggers and dumpers at 13 and many other things in between. I'm 16 now and I've bought my very first classic tractor a little grey feguson ted20 and dad still pops in to see whats what with it and to give me a hand

Gutted I missed out purchasing a T-shirt will definitely buy the next design you bring out the person I’ve always looked up from a young age is my father because he thought everything I know to date and he also taught how to over come obstacles in life and when working on things and it doesn’t always plan out the way you wanted

The biggest influence in my life was my granddad who was a 1st WW submariner then went on to be the very first payed moter man on the lifeboats up in Northumberland during WW2and beoned God rest his soul, but talking of today I think you and the fud Wiesel would do well with some of the GRI Tyres on the MF 165 if you can get the slightly bigger one's to fill the mudguards and not to be oversized because I think the one's you've put on the Ford 3000 look spot on mucker.

Really enjoyed that video on the tyres, glad I think the same way as others, yes more important to get the right look to the right period , rather than tyre brand makes !!! What people have to remember is everything was new to the market once, before they either go on to be brand leaders & mostly over priced or fail to be popular 😃Although people will say it’s an easy option for me to say the biggest influence for me was my dad , but things are different, not everyone had a genuine REME army corp mechanic on hand ✋ who served in situ all over the world , miss you dad, thankyou

The biggest role model/influence would be my granddad, as my mum was a single mother when i was a young child so i spent my years with him as my mother worked, he taught me the world, and my major is a nod to him out of respect

Have been lucky to have a few great influences through the years including my father and grandfather both mechanics. Try to live my life by the mantra that the wheel always turns which is a saying my father is fond of saying.. Speaking of wheels and tyres what size are those tyres.
