Dear Mac: You were and always will be loved by so many people around the world. A true gent. Funny, kind, a great storyteller, and a very talented musician. RIP, Ian McLagan.
Geez...I just found out this man just died. I usually am never affected by famous people's deaths. I view them as the same as everyone else. This time it got to me. I met him a couple of times and he seemed like such a good soul. His beautiful music created with the Small Faces (and solo work) has touched me deeply over the years. I hope he is reunited with his beloved wife Kim (who died tragically in a car crash not many years ago). I also hope he is enjoying a heavenly choir of his favorite Booker T and the MG's songs. Thank you Mr. Mclagan for all the soulful music...
so emotional to hear that this song and his whole album 'never say never' is about his wife who was killed in a car accident a couple of years ago. it's emotional, but not drippy, with a soulful expression. it's soulful and deep, a beautiful love song to his wife. R.I.P. Kim McLagan
Very interesting interview with the man on NPR. Man of integrity (passed up some big $$$ with a band whose music he didn't appreciate) and a lucky man who found his one true love and held onto her.
I took my daughter to see Ian and the Bump Band (her first concert) and a few months later he was gone. He blew to roof off with his wurlitzer organ, full volume. He stayed after the show to sign autographs and take photos, a true gentleman.
That's Ronnie Johnson on the bass! He played with my songwriting hero James McMurtry from 1996 to 2011. Ronnie's the man! RIP Ian. Loved your playing....
Mac should be in the R&R Hall of Fame in a category all to himself for having the greatest rock and roll haircut of all time. His whole career he always sported the coolest mane. Then he goes gray and what happens? His hair looks even better!! How crazy is that?!!
Mac is terrific - and Scrappy, too! I can walk down the street here in Austin and see these guys at the Lucky Lounge most any Thursday evening. Although I do not nearly often enough. (What is the matter with me?) Tuesday they will be at Waterloo Records for an in-store performance. I may have to forego Strange Brew for that.
wow, just outstanding. really cool all the musicians who are, or were :(, passed their pop chart peak but still producing great music. bowie, knopfler, byrne, shindell, cale, watt... so many I'm missing but its a neat thing to follow. I call it my geezer rock category. this is top shelf.
what a wonderful set with Ian & Patty Griffin! Excellent interview brought me here: "McLagan, that is, makes music for adults, about the lives of adults. Lately, that has meant a great number of songs, particularly on his last album, “Never Say Never” (2009), about the loss of his wife of 33 years, Kim, who died (in 2006) in a car accident in Austin, Texas." www.salon.com/2014/06/07/ian_mclagan_on_green_day_if_i_had_a_gun_theyd_all_be_dead/
Excerpt #2: "McLagan, as has often been noted, is also an incredibly funny and charming raconteur of his life and times. The unexposed may want to check out his autobiography, “All the Rage” (2009), which gets at the shambolic quality of British rock and roll in the ’70s like few other books."
That's Scrappy Jud Newcomb, fond memories of Scrappy playing with Toni Price down at the Continental Club, Austin Tx back in the late 90's early 2000's for Hippie Hour ...
The Small Faces were one of the best bands of the 60's especially live. Could have been as big as the Stones with better management. Ian McLagan would now be 77. last surviving member is now drummer Kenny Jones

lovely song. Soulful Ian. Saw him in Belfast recently. Great night.
This sounds so much like the old Faces! Great.
Awesome song. Awesome performance. Soul to burn.
Such sadness, all over again...
What a nice guy!
Real classy guy.
Having ol' "Flamin' Red" Griffin (one of my favorite singers, ever) on back-up was a great idea, too.
What a terrific piece. It also takes me back to seeing the Faces in '75.
Great song! Love the new CD. Hope to see Mac and The Bump Band soon.
Nicely written, soulful song... good work, Mac.
fantastic

Guitarist sounds like a young Ron Wood :) I may just dig this band!

This could've been a Faces song

we are the mods
Very sweet. Ian is missed here in Austin. Too bad Dave didn't pronounce Ian's name correctly. ha ha. xo
LOL....Ian once said it rhymed with dragon...but had an ever better word: FLAGON! That sounds like pure Faces....
Didnt know how good he is! shame sound is not very loud!
I meant his first name Madeline
Sad tune. His wife died in a traffic accident in Texas in 2006...they'd been married almost 30 years. I wonder if this song is about her?
So Ian wasn't married to sandy sergeant for long then?
Fantastic
