"Dumped on a planet in the middle of an electro storm, and left to rot for hundreds of years, and the guy's lost nothin'." I didn't think Holly had anything to lose. lol
I remember in the very first episode, Lister is continuously saying "Is he dead", Holly keeps on answering "Yes he's dead, everone's dead" and finally frustrated Holly says "Gordon Bennett, they are all dead!!!!" lol
Hattie "you're not firing me are you?" Rob Grant and Doug Naylor: "we can't think of anything to do with the character 1 season later: "hey I've an idea, let's bring Holly back" Hattie haydridge *waits by phone* Producers: "call norman lovett" Hattie: "fffuuuuuuuuuuuu"
Holly: I never forget a face.. never! Kryten: Well, from one machine to another.. welcome back online Holly! Holly: And you are?? Holly: What happened to him?! What was it? A cheap Razor? Just not worth buying them these days. Holly: He' back! Kicking bottom or what!?
Holly was just as important as any of the others, this is a series that was so good, yet at the same time sabotaged itself by it's own production team.(Similar to the self destruction perpetrated by the production team at Dr Who) Norman Lovett was mistreated and the series suffered without him. It was good while it lasted, but it could've been a whole lot better.
He was a great character and just as much a part of the crew as the actual crew themselves, but I think the series still continued to be great up until near the end of the "original series", just before the "back in the red" days. I think the fem-Holly did a good job in her own right.
I disagree with you a little. Norman Lovett may have been one of the guys in the beginning, but I really liked Hattie Hayridge's batshit insane interpretation of the computer role. Plus, I have to admit that when she was given an intelligence boost in White Hole, she instantly transformed into one of the sexiest ladies evar.
interesting that he said that and then told me about how they weren't interested in him. since writing this comment I have also read that he expressed disinterest in continuing in 2009, but then in 2015 he told me in great length about how they dropped him. Strange, guess he was telling himself more than me
Norman was a right royal pain in the arse to work with, he left series 3 because he was living in Scotland and the BBC relocated the shooting of RD from Manchester to London and Norm didn't want to come, then he came back in series 7 obviously then had another falling out with Doug over what I don't know and didn't come back again until most recently when he patched up with Doug again and was in one episode but he has done nothing but whinge about one thing or another since day one@@thepeoplespoet7320
haha! its great! when i first got really into red dwarf i bought series 1-8 on dvd and watched every episode one after the other right to the end and when holly cames back it was such a suprise i just wanted to join in with the clapping XD funny how as character who just happens to be a head can be so awesome ~:D
Then they should recruit Hattie Hayridge for Holly, she did a really good job too. We need the ships computer back, and I don't mean as the villian like in series 10 last week.
Well, you know what they say about all good things my friend... But yeah, I think it was necessary to have a quasi-female presence on board the Dwarf for a while, just so it didn't seem like such a sausage-fest.
@jorjlim I'll argue that point, although it was nowhere near as good as the series it was still nice to see them in a brand new series ( 9 ) believe it or not series 10 is getting made in 2011 the film they made was suposed to be series 9 apparently..
You're right about that! Norman was a big part of what made the first two series Gold. But Hattie was darned good, too. Read where Norman was mad about the way he was treated in Series 8, that he said he'd never do it again. I too was hopeful for Hattie in Series 10, but I suspect the character is done for good now. :(
I really misses Norman after he left and was replaced by Hattie. She wasn't a patch on him. I don't know anyone who liked her, let alone preferred her.
Norman Lovett said he felt he was treated poorly in Series 8, and swore never to do it again. For Series 9, I understood it, but I was hopeful for at least Hattie in Red Dwarf X. With Prie there, and just a single mention of Holly in Red Dwarf X, I suspect the character is done.
He didn’t kick bottom. He came back as Norman not Holly. Not dry enough and over acted. And he was worried that hattie stole his act when he didn’t actually come back with it . Sorry Norman
God, the writing and acting is AWFUL in red dwarf post series 6. It’s just terrible gags and sitting around explaining the plot. Whoever wanted Christine K as a crew member should be shot, and turning Kryten into a cry baby was a terrible move too. I think Rob Grant left and since that point it’s been worse than Mrs Browns Boys.
BBC took the original broadcast, ran it through a potato and this video is the unfortunate result... You can't tell Kryten from the others with the blocks on screen.
The way he said "And you are?" always made me laugh the most after just having an introduction with Kryten.
To think, 7 seasons in and this is the first ever scene to feature Norman Lovett and Robert Llewellyn together.
No-one seemed to notice he was Norman Lovett again.
@@Enzo012 It's almost like they forgot Holly was Hattie Hayridge in Series III-V.
@@AndrewChapman well for them Holly was supposed to have changed into hattie because of something I can't remember
Holly met the first Kryten played by David Ross
That was obviously the gag
2:05 "They can take a pot noodle and turn it into food." Smeghead!
He's fast, he's sharp, he's kicking bottom!
"Dumped on a planet in the middle of an electro storm, and left to rot for hundreds of years, and the guy's lost nothin'."
I didn't think Holly had anything to lose. lol
nothin, all the Scousers say that, they all say filum instead of film as well.
... that's the joke. He never had anything to lose.
@@buuzzsawtouchedme194 I don't. Then again, I had a proper upbringing....
Just his head.....
Love Norman as Holly. I was so happy to see him return.
"So what, they fixed your core programme and thought they'd be better off without ya?"
"Yeah, it was shortly after they met me"
I remember in the very first episode, Lister is continuously saying "Is he dead", Holly keeps on answering "Yes he's dead, everone's dead" and finally frustrated Holly says "Gordon Bennett, they are all dead!!!!" lol
Lister: hang on are you trying to tell me everybody's dead
Holly: I should never have let him out in the first place
fahd s everybody's dead dave :)
@neil froggy crompton: What? Even Selby?
Well done on completely misquoting the line....
He's dead, Dave. Everybody is dead. Everybody is dead, Dave.
I love Hattie as Holly but there was just something about Norman's deadpan delivery that made him unique compared to her.
Norman is definitely my favorite Holly.
I'm friends with him on FB ^_^
"and then they did a jigsaw" is one of my favourite lines by him ever. The delivery was perfect
2:20: "Did someone just turn over two pages at once?" Hahaha!
An inflatable shark is ALWAYS valuable.
Hattie "you're not firing me are you?"
Rob Grant and Doug Naylor: "we can't think of anything to do with the character
1 season later: "hey I've an idea, let's bring Holly back"

Definitely, red dwarf and doctor who were both taken out from the inside
He was a great character and just as much a part of the crew as the actual crew themselves, but I think the series still continued to be great up until near the end of the "original series", just before the "back in the red" days. I think the fem-Holly did a good job in her own right.
Agreed, some good episodes in the mid to late series but the show never recovered from losing Norman Lovett.
The original Holly should have been back for series 10, ain't quite the same without him.
He’s back in Red Dwarf: The Promised Land
They are both great in my opinion
God damn this guys was what was missing from back to Earth, we needed all of the Dwarfers.
kicking bottom or what XD
Red Dwarf XI or XII needs to bring back Holly. We've had the same crew of Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Cat for decades now.
spoke to Norman Lovet, BBC didn't even invite him to do the new series, so mean!
Didn't know the BBC did series 11 and 12 of Red Dwarf. Thought it was Dave.
Dave is owned by UKTV and is majority-owned by the BBC worldwide ;)
Freaky Ferengi, to be fair, he had said in 2009 that he didn't want to do it anymore.
What about the female version?
Holly is the best thing since sliced bread for God's sake, he's so underrated
Lister: you could turn a pot noodle into food. Oh funny
Why does Lister hate Pot Noodle's, he is convinced they are tasteless, I love them.
Glen Quagmire I never forget the time lister opted to eat dog food as opposed to pot noodle
Glen Quagmire i certainly will ask. i too am curious about it
Eat better for a year and those noodles will taste like cardboard to you. Assuming you get the high quality ones that is.
That is a bit unrealistic
We need Holly in new Red Dwarf.
Definitely,hopefully he'll be back in series 12.
I disagree with you a little. Norman Lovett may have been one of the guys in the beginning, but I really liked Hattie Hayridge's batshit insane interpretation of the computer role. i agree there but she played role well
spoke to Norman Lovet, BBC didn't even invite him to do the new series, so mean!

Freaky Ferengi wow
Well of course the BBC didn't invite him to the new series. The BBC didn't make it.
he probably did it for carear reasons its not appealing to have "was dropped from a comedy series" on a list of acting experience is it?
Norman was a right royal pain in the arse to work with, he left series 3 because he was living in Scotland and the BBC relocated the shooting of RD from Manchester to London and Norm didn't want to come, then he came back in series 7 obviously then had another falling out with Doug over what I don't know and didn't come back again until most recently when he patched up with Doug again and was in one episode but he has done nothing but whinge about one thing or another since day one@@thepeoplespoet7320

What a cool epersode
Holly's the bollocks
my favourite bit of Red Dwarf. When he appeared i also went "YAAAAY" :D
A brilliant return
Holly appeared in the final episode of series 12. Let’s hope he’s back for 13 !
0:35 If the Moto 360 can do this, I'm buying one!
GregofCanada man i wish it did. :/ all we need is someone to make a micro sized quantum computer that we can put into a smartwatch
+Ben Knight (KnightVision) senile micro sized quantum computer thank you very much
@Stolemyusename
He turned into Ace Rimmer and soared away to save the lives of the weak and the helpless.
What a guy
Holly! ❤
Which episode is this?
which ep is this and witch seson? i would like to watch this ep.
He's back in the new series!
What episode is it please ? :)
I say innmy opinion Holly should be back for the whole as he's a fan favourite and everyone knows what he's like and will say!
Back when they were still young. I think this was like almost 20 years ago.
In the scene that follows, Kryten scolds the nanobots.
I LOVE how you didn't say Holly and Kryten because you new the GEEKS would go Mental quoting S2E6 🔴 😂🤣🔴
What episode is this?
Norman Lovett is awesome as Holly
...an inflatable shark, ....😂😎
I am always looking forward to 240p.
Just to be clear, this isn't simply 240p. It's amazingly crappy 240p, probably due to both terrible bitrate targets and poor encoders.
LoneTech To be less critical, it was uploaded in 2007 by BBC. UA-cam was crappy back then.
Series VII - Episode 8, "Nanarchy"
"Nanarchy" series 7 episode 8 of "Red Dwarf". It was the end of the single-camera season.
Fingers crossed in the new Red Dwarf X series that its Norman Lovett again!
which series?
series 7
Alright dudes
I prefer Norman Lovett as Holly than the female Holly. I saw Norman do stand up once he was really good and he's a lovely guy in real life.
Lovett, Norman-- not his name, but what people say when they see him act!
Then they should recruit Hattie Hayridge for Holly, she did a really good job too. We need the ships computer back, and I don't mean as the villian like in series 10 last week.
0:36.
i believe it was the last episode of series 7...the penultimate series.
Well, you know what they say about all good things my friend... But yeah, I think it was necessary to have a quasi-female presence on board the Dwarf for a while, just so it didn't seem like such a sausage-fest.
thank god norman holly is back he was much funnyer and more of a laugh than miss hilly holly 3 cheers for kicking bottem

Two peoples senses of humour were stolen by nanobots.
Bloke Holly (Norman Lovett) definatly kicks Bottom comapred to Hattie Hayridge
I hope Hattie Hayridge comes back as Holly in a future series of Red Dwarf
They remolecularised.
much better
This is how to see parts of RD . Without silly talk over .
thx you where right. :P thx u
I really misses Norman after he left and was replaced by Hattie. She wasn't a patch on him. I don't know anyone who liked her, let alone preferred her.
Well, you do now.
Apparently the actor has said he won't ever be appearing in red dwarf again :(
Well it changed since he appeared in the final episode of season 12
Lasts longer than any other milk dogs milk
Why?
No Bugger'll drink it
Classic line delivery 😂👍
Norman Lovett said he felt he was treated poorly in Series 8, and swore never to do it again. For Series 9, I understood it, but I was hopeful for at least Hattie in Red Dwarf X. With Prie there, and just a single mention of Holly in Red Dwarf X, I suspect the character is done.
which one? lol
potato vision
yh the bloke was best
@JackTheGeordieLad Hope we don't get stoped by the cops... they don't like it when yer rat arsed! lol
Read his coming back for series 13.
@JackTheGeordieLad No Way!
Alright dudes?

The BBC might want to reupload this in a better resolution.
The biggest mistake red dwarf made was adding in Female holly and kochanski...
If Kochanski had been the original actress (Clare Grogan) it would have been more interesting. I don't think she added anything useful, though.
Wow that's terrible res
15 GELFs down thumbing.
17 now.
120p
You'd think BBC could do better res than poo.
Stopped watching after Series VI...
wish they would show the 2 uncut holly returns videos cos the 2nd one is FIFTEEN MINUTES long where the audience went nuts
Oh yeah from S12 when he’s just sat on the screen? That was so unbelievable!
BBC took the original broadcast, ran it through a potato and this video is the unfortunate result... You can't tell Kryten from the others with the blocks on screen.
I LOVE how you didn't say Holly and Kryten because you new the GEEKS would go Mental quoting S2E6 🔴 😂🤣🔴
