I said, "Because I noticed you were all over the road for a while back there. I realized given you being a cop and all, you were either on your radio, laptop, or your phone." He then said to me "oh so you were watching me." I said "I was behind you and we are the only two on the road, so yes, of course I was watching you." My license is what pays me. If some dumb careless driver screws that up I’ll end up either losing my license or maybe in jail. It doesn’t matter if it’s my fault or not. The law isn’t as fair or lenient on us. We are expected to babysit poor drivers that do stuff like this all day long. It becomes very nerve wracking saving 10 peoples lives daily because they can’t just get in there damn car and drive. So my opinion on driving through big ghetto cities will be very biased and I grew up in Detroit where some of the countries worst drivers are at. Growing up there I took notice to the higher population and that’s why bad driving exists in practically every big city. Therefore people need to pay better attention.
The 3-year-old remains in critical condition and the 2-year-old in stable condition. Here's the story: On Jan. 13, police said around 11 p.m., HCSO received a call of an armed robbery at a gas station on the Eastex Freeway. When the deputy responded, investigators said he noticed a man leaving a CVS Pharmacy in a vehicle that matched Williams’ description. The deputy attempted to pull Williams over, but he took off, leading the deputy on a high-speed chase that exceeded 80-90 mph, according to investigators. The chase ended at the intersection of Lockwood Drive and Laura Koppe Road where the deputy collided with a black vehicle containing a woman and her two children. The deputy was rescued by a bystander as his vehicle was ignited in flames. The crash left the woman dead at the scene. The woman’s two children were transported to the hospital, where the 3-year-old remains in critical condition and the 2-year-old remains in stable condition. The deputy who chased Williams was also injured and is in stable condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
@@aidena43 Yes, Davonte Williams, 27, was arrested that night (the 13th), according to the Houston Police Department. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that Williams had been out on bond for two previous cases of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Those cases date back to February and November of 2020. Williams now faces at least one federal robbery charge, related to ‘interfering with commerce by force’. He could face more than 20 years if convicted, and may still face additional charges related to the police pursuit and subsequent death of an innocent woman.
Speeding at 80-90 mph for a robbery with the potential of killing others and that's exactly what your comment says. If I were a cop, I would never pursue at such a high speed in public streets. The cop killed a woman out of ignorance.
Chief Hatcher is so well informed and her ability to remember so many details is to be congratulated. She speaks so quick and fast and really knows what she's doing. The people in that area should be glad they have her.
The "armed robbery" was probbaly $50 and using a fake "gun" gas stations don't carry large sums of cash, most people use plastic to fill their tanks because most people dont carry $100 in cash on them to do it
You can see the dead woman (presumably those childrens mother) laying on the ground of the driver side of the white car. You can see the tarp and feet sticking out from it. So sad for the kids on this one , helpless.
This is why we CALL OFF pursuits. Two kids just lost their mom, with potential for a sibling to lose their sibling as well.. because of a cops decision to not terminate when it was clearly too dangerous to keep pursuing. EDIT: Since people don't understand how police protocols or criminal minds work. The more pressure you put on a criminal, regardless of the crime, they will fight harder to escape. - The closer an officer pursues, the faster the criminal will go to attempt an escape- Going outside their driver skill (If they even have any) - Putting the public more and more at risk. This is EXACTLY why Officers can call off a pursuit. They HAVE to ask for permission to engage, but most departments don't have a requirement to get permission to end a pursuit, its Officers discretion (Mostly, NOT always) Just because an Officer calls off a pursuit, does NOT mean they are not still "pursuing" They will go into tracking mode from a distance, and with a helicopter if available or necessary. Yes people run fake plates. Yes that does make it more difficult to find them. But NOT impossible. There are CTV cameras EVERYWHERE. One good shot of a face, and its game over. Everyone's face is online, with or without a criminal history. Every single one of you have a smartphone in your pocket. Regardless if you activated facial recognition, your face IS on database. And Police CAN access it.
i agree, we should always let the criminals go that way they wont commit an exponentially increasing amount of crime who knows what level of crimes will be committed if we attempt to arrest criminals

To the two children who will now grow up without the benefit of their mother, my sincere condolences. I've always questioned the wisdom of high speed pursuits and this accident is exactly why... If police were forced to give up chase each time someone evaded, then every criminal would begin taking up that tactic knowing once they did police would not pursue due to possible incident...with this, crime would begin to rise even higher because the criminals know they have higher chance to get away with it. more restrictions placed on police...will only resulting more crime.

As a parent, you can raise the child the best you can but once they are on their own and leave the nest, it's up to them to do the right thing. They are old enough by then to know right from wrong! What they do with their lives after that is totally up to them.

I said, "Because I noticed you were all over the road for a while back there. I realized given you being a cop and all, you were either on your radio, laptop, or your phone." He then said to me "oh so you were watching me." I said "I was behind you and we are the only two on the road, so yes, of course I was watching you." So here we are again an innocent person killed from a high speed pursuit. We need to stop these pursuits unless the person is deemed an imminent danger to society this needs to end. The cop should have got the license plate number and a better description of the car and the suspect. Then they could have picked him up later. I'm sick and tired of hearing about these stories.

The 3-year-old remains in critical condition and the 2-year-old in stable condition. Here's the story:
On Jan.
Do you know if they arrested the suspect ?
@@aidena43 Yes, Davonte Williams, 27, was arrested that night (the 13th), according to the Houston Police Department. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that Williams had been out on bond for two previous cases of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Those cases date back to February and November of 2020. Williams now faces at least one federal robbery charge, related to ‘interfering with commerce by force’. He could face more than 20 years if convicted, and may still face additional charges related to the police pursuit and subsequent death of an innocent woman.

This is why we CALL OFF pursuits.
Two kids just lost their mom, with potential for a sibling to lose their sibling as well.. because of a cops decision to not terminate when it was clearly too dangerous to keep pursuing.
EDIT:
Since people don't understand how police protocols or criminal minds work.
They HAVE to ask for permission to engage, but most departments don't have a requirement to get permission to end a pursuit, its Officers discretion (Mostly, NOT always)
Just because an Officer calls off a pursuit, does NOT mean they are not still "pursuing" They will go into tracking mode from a distance, and with a helicopter if available or necessary.

No, I don't believe they mentioned what the criminal stole...that is what it would all be for. Had a crime not been committed, the pursuit would not have happened.
Thanks To Earl And Others Who Pulled The Officer Out Of His Patrol Car. I Hope The Officer A Full Recovery. And Condolences The Lady's Family
Criminals are NOT "gentlemen" .
Maybe not, but remember at that point it was only suspicion of criminal activity. Very high suspicion, but suspicion nonetheless
Poor children
Poor mom
A lot of healing going to have to happen I am so sorry ❤️
Kids lost their mom because of some selfish evil SOB!
EGO DRIVEN POLICE.
@@ronniewall1481 Doing their jobs instead of turning their heads & let the mob rule. Momma should have never been in that vehicle with her kids in the 1st place helping a criminal ! Criminals getting their families killed & it has NOTHIN to do with ego !
@@ag4allgood COPS LOVR TO KILL.
YOU BACK THE WORST CRIMINALS IN HISTORY YET LOVE TO SEE THE COMMON MAN DIE.
@@ronniewall1481 Instead of doing criminal acts you would be amazed at what clean living feels like. Many those Officers are your brothers & sisters from your neighborhood ! Common men are not criminals doing crimes. Getting what they deserve ... CRIMINALS !
@@ag4allgood YOU CAN BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT.
MY POINT IS THE RICH ARE BREAKING FAR MORE LAWS AND IT'S OK. ETHAN COUCH KILLS FOUR PROBATION. BREAKS PROBATION GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE.
THIRD IN LINE FOR PRESIDENT AFTER BUSH CHENEY WAS A CONVICTED SERIAL CHILD RAPIST.
BUT LET'S RUN AROUND AND KILL SOMEONE OVER NOTHING.
Pretty embarrassing on the department, killing an innocent to chase a petty thief.
Armed robber fleeing police is hardly a petty thief and it's was an accident not the department deliberately killing an innocent. Are you saying don't chase any criminal and let them drive off without consequences?
@@nsrfreak Then they'll blame cops for not catching criminals or doing their job.
Gonna be some Crazy Dash Cam🎥Video when released...prayers to the Innocent Mom Killed and her Injured Children...😥
