- In today’s vlog we celebrate Christmas at home! We had so much fun opening presents with Jackson! He loved his new shoes and his name puzzle! We really felt like this was his first real Christmas, so it was just so exciting! We had a delicious dinner from 4 Rivers and then we watched Soul on Disney+ and talked about what we thought of it. Kinda Soul spoilery: I sobbed for a long time. I’ve lived with a debilitating illness for the last 10 years. I saw my dreams disintegrate in front of my eyes and my body slowly deteriorate to the point I was barely a shell of a person and longed for the great beyond. I finally got a proper diagnosis in September, I had brain surgery a month ago today and I feel like I was given a second chance. And if there’s one thing I learned through all of this it’s how to relish the little things, because sometimes they’re the only things that kept me going: that special cup of coffee, the way the sunlight shimmers on the frost in the morning, the way it smells right after it rains. It’s about more than just finding a purpose or being grateful for the life you’ve been given, it’s taking the time and finding the little things that spark your soul along the way. I feel like it’s a movie I was meant to see.
Watching Jackson open presents made me a little emotional. It was so neat to see him tear through wrapping paper and be so interested in his gifts!

I FaceTime my best friend every night he has terrible depression . I give him a reason to get out of bed everyday . And it helps both of us .

I love that you said... “being Jackson’s mom”... I didn’t become a mom for the first time until I was 37... my kids are 16, 14, and 12 now... I love it...definitely my purpose. 💙 Soul was definitely a good movie and it did spur some good conversations afterwards with the family. Love you guys! Happy New Year!

Our son didn't really "get" Christmas until this year and he's 3 years old. It was the most fun Christmas with him yet!!

Same! My son was 3 this Christmas and he finally wasn’t scared of Santa and really understood everything.
My daughter's 3 too and she kinda got it but then after Christmas said it was time for birthday presents so... lol
My daughter will be 3 on January 8th and she opened one present and just wanted to color haha I had to help her with her other gifts.
Mine too! He turned 3 in November and knew all about Christmas and Santa and presents...it was so fun this year!
Regarding Jackson & the box(es): The first “rule” of Christmas is kids will always like playing with an empty box better than what’s in the box.

merry christmas guys! in Soul, i think the point of the movie was that you shouldn't focus on a 'purpose' in life, and that you should just enjoy/ appreciate the small things

Hi, Tim and Jenn!! So glad you all enjoyed the movie “Soul”! I would love for you to shine on a spotlight on local public school music programs and recommend that people find ones near them to donate to. The pandemic has greatly impacted their ability to both perform and fundraise, but the need for new music, instrument repairs, etc is still there. If we want these programs to thrive post pandemic we need to support them now. My husband is a local middle school band teacher and this cause is near and dear to me. Love your content and wishing your family all the best in 2021!!
So "Soul"....I kind of took from it that is not about finding your purpose so much as it's realizing all the little things in life are worth living for.... the beautiful leaves that fall from the trees, a mom who loves you enough to fit you into your dad's suit, having a positive imoact on a student, etc... arriving at what you think is your purpose is like, "now what?" Its the other stuff we sometimes miss that make life so amazing!

Jen , I love that idea of calling people in the new year to let them know you are here. I did that with my co workers this year as an advent calendar. I am a teacher not not seeing my colleagues on a daily basis was really hard for me and I felt that just that simple text in the morning helped not only me but them as well. I want to keep doing them all year long for everyone in my contact list
We loved Soul. Definitely felt like it was geared more for adults but I have to say my 5 year old watched it the whole way through. She loved it! I was super surprised cause it’s tough to hold her attention sometimes but as soon as it was over she said “I wanna watch that again tomorrow”.
Tim’s purpose in life is Jen and Jackson.... That is so sweet!! 🥰

32:38 this!!! Pixar movies like Coco, Toy Story 3, etc. literally made me sob but Soul overall is a touching movie but it didn’t make me cry. that doesn’t make it a bad movie, I really liked it especially with the animation & lighting like wow! Happy holidays!

Something to consider as Jackson gets older. When you wrap presents it is very efficient to make sure they are ready to use. Tags and securing type ties should be removed, unbox, and if assembly is required, assemble prior to wrapping.
Ooo my goodness seeing Jackson play his instrument toy and dance had me laugh, cry and smile at the same time. Enjoy these times.
Guys put your new plushie stairs in front of Jackson's crib. When my son was 15 months old he stacked up everything he could grab in front of his crib as a landing pad for the great climb out. Good luck godspeed and merry Christmas!

Jenn, be sure to bring a different pair of sandals when trying out the Chacos for the first time. Mine gave me the worst blisters before they broke in!
I wore my new chacos to Epcot and at one point took them off because they hurt SO bad... then I couldn’t get them back on because my feet were so swollen😂 definitely recommend bringing a back up pair of shoes too!
I got new chacos and couldnt loosen up one toe side it has been horrible...so tight no matter what I do
Definitely bring extra shoes at first. My Chacos tend to give me blisters if my feet sweat a lot. I do love them for going out and about in the summer, but I could never wear them to the theme parks.
@@KitschyTravels try putting fabric softener in the slot where the toe strap comes out. It should help loosen up the straps.

"Its 50 degrees out". I'd kill for 50 degrees! Here in PA, a couple days ago it was 9 degrees but with the windchill it was -5.

I COMPLETELY agree with you about Soul! We started off watching it as a family and my 4yr old and 14 yr lost interest within the first 5 mins. My husband trickled off after about 45 mins in and I finished it.
A very deep cartoon! Loved the music and the story line, but it's not a kid movie. It's definitely an adult movie.
