Folks trying to do this with Slicer4 - try using the 'segment editor' and ADDing a segmentation, using the threshold filter then click SHOW 3D (adjust smoothing in the dropdown off of show3d). Took me a while to figure this out. If you're just trying to print the entire scan - ignore the cropping / labeling stuff.
your video is very profesional. good attitude, good voice, good explanation. please show more videos ! i just become biomedical engineer this year, and my basic is 3d modeling. so this is really helpful. please make another videos. Best Steven
Thank you for the tutorial. I've been meaning to give this a try for a CT scan of a shoulder injury I had a number of years ago. At the time the company I worked for was a reseller of ZCorp 3d printers, and I was able to use some good but expensive software to create a model of the bones. It's very interesting to do the same thing with free software! For whatever reason, your technique to drag-and-drop the folder containing the DICOM files into Slicer worked, when simply loading the directory didn't.
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.Good voice and rhythm.I think at the end the tutorial skips some steps that are crucial to end with a nice joint at the end of the mandible, just following these steps I couldn't obtain a nice round finish, am I right? Anyway, wonderful. A lot of thanks. Keep up with the good work. I would love to see some tutorial about the meniscus and falx cerebri.
Thank you for a great tutorial! I am trying to make a 3D printable spine model of an MRI scan. Is there any tutorial like this one, but with an MRI scan? Thanks a lot?
This is an excellent tutorial! I have a question. Im folowing step by step but after i hit crop! my CT 3d mesh dissapears, i still can see the other 3 views and my ROI selection, but no model. I also have a hard time using the imput shift to separate flesh from bone, cant completly remove the flesh without damaging the bone image. Thanks a lot!
There are certain issues with 3D slicers once the volume is cropped it does not show in the perspective window in 4UP view.Kindly advise on how to solve the issue?
Hello, when I try to export the file in .stl format, the cube which is created to crop the volume is also exported as a part of the .stl file. I don't want this cube to be a part of the .stl file. Can you help?

Hello Sir, So i have a foam based temporary prototype of a component which i want to be 3d printed. I wanted to make a cad model of it via solidworks or catia but it is too complex to model. If I uses mimics i have to import images in format of DICON file format. I want to take images of the foam prototype and then want to do analysis of it. Also after getting the 3d model i want to make some edits in it and then want to do analysis of it. Please suggest me a way to do. It would be very helpful.
Thank you for the great video and explanations; I am also trying to convert MRI data to solid. Actually I have a knee MRI and trying to get the meniscus out of it and use it as a solid. But there is limited presets in Volume Rendering, so I couldn't see the joints, the meniscus. I only see the knee as a solid. Can you give me some guidance ?
hello sir, i am a mechanical engineering UG student. i am trying to work on designing knee implants. i'm in great need of mri data of knee. can you please send me those files you have. that would be a great help, thank you. mail: hindivadu@gmail.com

Hello! I have got a big problem with Slicer3D. I have to make 3d model from scans which I got from Skyscan mikro-tomograph. I have *.tiff files from tomograph and now I don't know how can I build 3d model by Slicer3d. I would be grateful for any help from you. Best regrads, Poul.
The data seems to available from inside a later version. In 3D Slicer 4.5.0-1 (& perhaps other versions?), in the 'Welcome' window, there are 4 wide buttons directly beneath 'Welcome', & the lower right one is 'Download Sample Data'. Clicking it gives a list of data samples, one of which is 'CBCTDentalSurgery'. That sample seems to be the same one that she demos.
Editor Module, Under Per Structure > Add Structure > Left Lung > Paint effect - draw on lung area on image > select Fast Marching > Click ‘March’ button. WAIT - This takes a few moments > Slide Maximum total volume slider until only one lung excluding bronchi is highlighted with the colour > Then select Model Maker > Press ‘Apply’ Button You'll need to do this for each separate lung and bronchi. under the Model viewer you can decrease the capacity in order to be able to see everything.
Thank for this tutorial, but whenever I drag my file to the software, I get a message that said " Directory import completed. 0 New Patients 0 New Studies 0 New Series 0 New Instances" Please i need help !!
+carlos latorre once you have segmentation, you can extract triangular surface and save it in STL format, which is typically compatible with CAD tools.
Please join the mailing list and report the exact steps you take that don't work for you www.slicer.org/wiki/Help#Mailing_List All the formats you mention above can be loaded in 4.6 and 4.7, so the problem should be somewhere in the details.
