    Lindsay- I loved this Stamp school tutorial all about colored pencils. At the moment they are pretty much my go to for coloring as I have not committed to markers just yet. Your background was so incredible I didn't want to see you cover it up with anything. LOL Loved how you colored the tulip-- giving us terms along the way is so helpful. Cannot wait to check out the ATC supplies. TFS as always.

    I love how you talk about enjoying the processm. There are times that I like to challenge myself for speed, but colored pencils are all about joy.
    I decided to try faber castell polychromos. It felt like a massive splurge but I LOVE them! I have since bought more. I enjoy listening to your commentary as I watch you color.
    Thank you for explaining lines versus ovals

      Hey Jesse b! Good to hear from you, yes those pencils are lovely, true they are expensive but they last such a long time. Enjoy them:)

      I purchased mine in 2 separate orders spaced 7 months apart. It might seem crazy, but I bought 27 open stock because I wanted a few shades of yellows, purples, reds, pinks, blues, and greens. The sets didn't cater to that. $1.74 a pencil wasn't cheap, but I didn't think they were scary expensive. I don't reach for my Crayola colored pencils anymore. Maybe its because I put A LOT of colors in my cart and spent a few weeks whittling the choices down to exactly what I loved. I use every one of them.
      Thank you for helping to give me the confidence to try artist grade, and not find them too precious to use.

    You know you had me with the Paris theme, but this is such a lovely combination of techniques and colours too! I don't have the distress inks but could I water down my Hydrus to use instead? or maybe use my Inktense somehow to get a similar effect for the background?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  7 років тому

      Do you have any ink pads? if you inked it up with white and you can use spray ink or dab colored ink on top for a similar effect.

    Lovely! Thanks for sharing the process. I love using colored pencils but can never get them to adhere (not sure of the proper word) to the paper. I always have difficulty with blending as well. I use Prismacolor. Maybe it's the brand?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  7 років тому +2

      sounds like your paper might be slightly coated, heavily sized or just too smooth. Or if you color to firmly you will fill the tooth and no more will stick. Try coloring lightly at fist and see if you can layer, if not try a rougher paper (just feel the cardstock you have with your fingertips and pick the least smooth one) Prismacolors are lovely, shoulds like your paper may be too slick for them:)

    Hi Lindsay! Love that Tulip... Very pretty! QUESTION... How would I know if my colored pencils are wax based? Some of my pencils are several years old and I don't have the packaging any more. Some are Crayola some are RoseArt.
    Thanks so much for sharing...

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  7 років тому

      +Mary Poggemann those are wax. If they don't dissolve in water they are wax or oil but most are wax:)

  • @sushanart

    What kind of baby wipe do you use? Unscented or perfumed? Nearly every baby wipe in the store have aloe vera in it and I wonder if it will harm my distress and oxide inks.

  • @ceciliasawyer2432

    I love this whole technique but I have a question: What kraft stock are you using? My does not take the color as vibrantly as yours. Is it coated?

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  7 років тому +1

      it does seem to have a coating, it is the cheap 5"x7" card packs of 50 from ACmoore. They are kinda flimsy so I am using them up:)
