Ataturk is missing from Turkey without DLC because of two reasons:
1) There was a minor bug with removing him from command and his subsequent death.
2) A lot of countries will start with a later historical leader (and sometimes party) without the corresponding DLC: Metaxis in Greece, Franco in Nat Spain, Diaz in Rep Spain, Horthy and the stick bundl party in Hungary, Carol in Romania [with an event to change to one of the other two parties later] are the ones I remember.
Two years ago we had Atatürk as a leader, now we don't... don't defend the laziness and slopiness of Paradox for the love of God
@@sejozwak I was really only trying to point out the likely reason, not defend it. I have no idea why they didn't just keep the old Turkey event for Ataturk's death for people without the DLC (which I'm pretty sure is what they did for Romania's alignment change unless they removed that too).

Idk about Iwojima, but iirc Polynesia cores Taiwan bc the indigenous Taiwanese speak Austronesian languages; Okinawans/Ryukyuans speak Japonic, so it wouldn't apply. I think it would be interesting to have an Austronesia formable
After digging, I have absolutely no idea why Polynesia cores Iwojima. It's a volcanic island with only the Japanese Army being stationed there. Ancient Polynesians might have been to Iwojima but by that logic Polynesia should also core all of The Philipines and Indonesia, The Bismarck archipelago, Easter island and also Madagascar.
Also, I think that reclaiming the mandate of heaven should give you cores on Tannu Tuva, Mongolia, and Tibet. To replicate the Qing empire in the 1910s before it collapsed.
They should at least have decisions to become core states for like 50PP each, but they were never 'core' territory to begin with

Polynesia rn is kinda cursed in hoi4.
The native Taiwanese are considered part of the Austronesians just like the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Madagascar.
They probably should add integration decisions once you formed Polynesia or Greater Indonesia (maybe if the next expansion is actually in South East Asia).
Oh, and the Ryukyu people on Okinawa aren't considered part of that ehnic group. So no core for you!

I am not sure why paradox has been lazy on Portuguese Timor. They should at least make Timor Leste as releasable which also remove the permanent Colony State debuff from old game. I mean why they bother to fix Jan Mayen and Easter Island but not that one. Sure people has been asking to make Singapore and Brunei to be releasable as well.

The people of Okinawa are ethnically very similar to Japan. Their religion and culture is a bit different but they are far closer to Japanese than Polynesia which they had surprisingly little contact with.

A few of these are fixed in the new War Effort patch - Regnum Bospori is now puppeted and Al-Andalus jump out to me.

I'm pretty sure the reason why Polynesia doesn't core Okinawa is that the native peoples there are not Austronesian but more closely related to the Japanese.
You can even make a detailed video of all the bugs and they will not fix it. I love paradox.
I think the problem with gdynia is that before it was part of the state of danzig, same for hatay that before was part of other state, that's why they are not counted in the formables
Yes, but Gdynia state was added when No Step Back and Soviet tree were added, so the formable NEVER worked properly...

Austria-Hungary should also be classified as broken because it does not require nor give cores on Galicia (Lwow, Krakow and Stanislawow), despite being part of the actual Habsburg empire for at least 2 centuries.

Polynesia probably shouldn’t core Iwo Jima, but the reason it can core Taiwan is probably because Indigenous Taiwanese are the origin of the Austronesian language family which includes Polynesian languages. (That doesn’t really make sense as to why Polynesia can core it, but that’s the best reason I’ve got)
Is this 1.14.4 or 1.14.5 beta? Paradox said that 1.14.5 beta fixed many of these bugs

it ABSOLUTELY should not core ryukyu for a lot of reasons. taiwan is only a very slight stretch.
For Majapahit, i would be alright if they make it cored East Timor but NOT cored West Papua.
Majapahit never controlled it, but the westernmost peninsula (Bird's Head or Vogelkop) was controlled by a bunch of tribes who paid fealty to the Tidore Confederation, who was at one time (20 years i believe) a vassal of Majapahit.
TLDR: Majapahit has a stronger claim for East Timor than West Papua

Polynesia is VERY broken.
Polynesia should only core Samoa, New Zealand, Tahiti, Easter Island, Pictarin Island, Line Islands, Hawaii, Pheonix Island, Elice Islands, and to some extent, Nauru. all of these are in the Polynesia region and have Polynesian decent. Fiji, Micronesia, Taiwan, all of those are in other sub groups.
giving Indonesia cores on East Timor is a horrible idea because there was actually a genocide there from indonesia

Chinese Empire would be made significantly easier if you yourself didn't have to control all your cores (except taiwan, hong kong, macau, and guangzhouwan), so you didn't have to integrate mengkukuo and possibly get attacked while you do it

As you likely are aware the "annexing land" thing by clicking the funny decision has been in the game for a long time, it happens with im pretty sure every thing you get a core on while occupying, happens with Alsace, Anarchist Spain, Low Lands, etc.
No, it doesn't happen with "every thing you get a core on", you just mentioned like an exception or two which doesn't follow the rule, also with Integrate Alsace Lorraine and Luxembourg, you don't get to OWN Luxembourg, just core it, since otherwise you would annex a poor innocent country

Greater Hungary is also broken / designed in a terrible way. You gain cores on some old states and don't gain cores on some others. This would be acceptable, but there are states with historically low ethnic Hungarian population which you core (like the state with Brasov), and there are a fock ton of nations which can core a lot of states which are absolutely brain-dead (Macedonian empire, Roman empire, French union, Greater Bulgaria just to name a few). Why for the love of God can't that country gain cores on its historical territories? It sucks normally, it sucks pretty much with it's cores, and you wouldn't be too op with your historical borders either, but the extra manpower would fix at least one issue of your country. Please paradox, buff that shit.
(Also, it could be a neat video to compare how many factories each / some focus trees give. You can't even begin a comparison with like Canada and China).
