such a lovely gilet, really joyful and will go with so many other garments. A triumph!
Hi Sam, I love your gilet, my new mantra is going to be “it doesn’t have to be perfect to be great”, I love that 😊❤
Oh I'm so glad xxx
Love your gilet of joy! It’s unique, fun, totally in your palette and very you! Xxx
Awesome transformation, very cute and very you. I know you will enjoy wearing it. Can't wait to see what you make next.
it looks so cosy! Perfect layering piece come winter as well.
So effortlessly cool Sam!
It came out so well! I know you'll happily wear that for a long time to come. It was so good to hear you talk about things not needing to be perfect, particularly in the realm of quilting. I think some of us who are trying to let go of perfectionism, and those who don't necessarily strive for it but also limit themselves because it seems out of reach, can be inspired and reassured by seeing examples of what can be done even without being strictly precise. Also, being given permission to just play by someone else helps us all give ourselves permission to do it.
I'm not much help with the dress selection, as I've not made any of them, but the ones that really grabbed my attention were Tamzin, Mushroom, Sofia, and Pauline. Of the four, I think the Sofia feels most like it fits the challenge. I'm also very drawn to batiks, so I love the idea of that. Can't wait to see what you do, because all your options are really lovely, and it will be a beautiful dress.
I vote for the pattern scout! But the gathering across the bust you might not fancy in which case, the style arc
Gilet looks great on you! The reason I love sewing is it gives you creative licence to do what you want, how you want, so absolutely "you do you" me however I'm a little bit OCD 😮so I'd have to line it all up with rulers and colours etc! 🤣
As long as your sewing makes you happy that is the key thing xx
I love your padded waistcoat its very inspiring and you have shared so many interesting tips... I'm looking forward to trying one myself. Thank you !!
Oh that's great to hear. Thank you x
Really impressed with the transformation, well done.😊
Thank you xx
Gorgeous! Love all your videos x.
Your comment made my day thank you xx
Lovely!
I am from Queensland Australia and we are going into summer, so holidays are going to be the thing. Love the vest , you're right quilting doesn't have to be perfect.💜💜🇦🇺
Hi Sam. I love the vest you made! The only enhancement I would be longing for would be to use some nice soft flannel from a secondhand shirt to make the bias binding and use it on the neckline too so where the vest is up against skin, it is like a little caress. It's a fantastic upcycle and will be a great layering piece, Antonia
Ooh yes I will keep my eye out for some flannel to make bias. Great suggestion.
Love it! Great choice of colours x
Thank you x
The gilet looks brilliant, it will be great with dresses in the cooler months. I’ll look at shirts in charity shops completely different now
Love, love you gillet. Great idea for all my smaller pieces, thank you. I certainly agree with you "perfection doesn't exist "! Whatever you'll make for challenge 3 will be stunning as always.
You are so welcome. Thank you xx
Your gillet is fantastic. I can't wait to see what everyone makes!
Thank you. Me too. Can't wait to watch them all xx
I love it!
Thank you xx
Love it and the reversability of it!👌👌👌
Thank you so much xc
Love this !
Thank you x
Absolutely brilliant! Perfect for layering underneath a lightweight jacket or just part of an outfit. I think I need to sort my scraps and copy your best. I also see making a child's version. Oh, the possibilities are endless. Denim scraps would be interesting. Thanks for thr inspiration!
You are very welcome. Oh yes to denim. Great idea and how cute would a child's one look xx
just amazing. I am so inspired by what you do!
Thank you for your lovely comment. Xxx
Lovely gilet and great use of those shirts - I think you will get lots of use out of it
Remarkable!!! Such a clever sewist!!!
That is so kind thank you xx
it's lovely, must get on with my epp after seeing your make. x
Thank you
What a fabulous jacket , and great reusing of shirts - love it
Love it ! ❤
Thank you xx
Really cute, wouldn’t change a thing. I think the GBSB quilt jacket might work (no sleeves). Love the imperfection which made it perfect❤
Thank you and that is a great idea xx
What a cute jacket. I made the hanbok vest and have loved wearing it!
Of your options I've only made the pattern scout one but it was fab. There's also the free Pauline Alice Onil which you could easy hack into a dress
Oh great thank you x
I love it. Brilliant 🤩 🎉❤
Thank you so much xxx
Cute, love everything about it.
Thank you so much Diane xx
it look gorgeous on u hun 🥰 I wanna make a quilted jacket & yeh I watched ur vid about the quilted jackets u made but I can’t make my mind up which 1 to do 🤔 oh & I wanna add a hood but dunno 🤷🏼♀️ how to do it 😞 so maybe u could do a vid on adding a hood to a jacket or coat 😁 that would be fantastic if u could 🙏 oh & I always look 👀 through charity shops for fabric 😁 I’ve got loads of duvet covers & curtains which are gorgeous I just need to unpick the curtain backs & the duvets seams & hey presto I’ve got the most beautiful fabrics to use & for a great price - ya can’t go wrong can ya? xxx
A fantastic wearable garment!!! Inspiration for using up scraps X
Thank you so much xx
Brilliant use of the shirts Sam, your gilet looks really great 🤩 Definitely giving me inspiration
Great gilet, I can see that working well with plenty of your other makes😊 Looking forward to challenge 3
Thank you so much xx
I love it! 😘
Great vlog as always love love the gilet what an inspiration thank you ❤❤
Thank you so much xx
Where did you leave a gap to turn the whole thing through? Thank you.
Hi. I left it at the bottom along the back as then when I turned it through it wasn't noticeable.
Would it be possible for you to either list or even better, add links to the dress patterns you talked about in the comments? I looked for the mushrooms and rose one and couldn't find it anywhere.
Hi I'm so sorry I meant I put them in and forgot. Doing it now xx
@@sequingirlie thank you😊. I meant to say that I love how your gilet turned out too. And I agree that this fabric looks perfect with imperfect stitching lines. It wouldn't have suited it as much to have everything lined up exactly. It's very designer or boutique looking. You and Loves Red Sews should open a boutique together.
Thank you so much that is so kind. I'm looking forward to watching the rest when I get a minute. X
I say Malaga in October... Anyone???
I don't agree with any of those choices for a beachy holiday. Carry-on only... Way tooooo much fabric to stuff in the suitcase IMO and on the body for sunny beach.... Need room for seperates...
When I was in Portugal and Spain last two European vaca's....I could always spot a tourist by the long tiered pouffy dresses.... And they always had English accents ... It was wierd.
Aren't the olives harvested in October???
It is so long since I had a holiday outside the UK I'm honestly not sure. I dream of one and realistically I need to see a dress I will wear.
