Hello John, Wow, that's made a huge difference, Really like the idea of having removable scenery and a great tip using a mini spirt level on your track work. 👍👍👍
Thank you Deano, don’t know why I didn’t think of it before now, oh well. My first two layouts had glued down tunnels, and guess where all the issues happened. So I vowed everything I did would have removable scenery. That’s why I have a quick access hatch and for more serious stuff the whole lot comes off. I stumbled over the spirit levels on Amazon think 6 in a pack all different types, very handy, can’t remember the price though, not a huge amount.
Good morning John! Wow! That was a tremendous amount of work! It's certainly paid off though, as being able to run four trains simultaneously is an excellent result! Well done Sir! All the best, Ian.
Hi John it's just good to see four fast trains on a main line ,looking forward to seeing you tidying up a bit its going to be very good. All the best Colin from Mossend.
Thank you Colin, glad you like it. The whole thing has thrown up other track issues on existing track so I’ll sort those and hopefully get the scenery sorted and replaced.
I thought that I'd done well cleaning my test track and the pickups on my new train! You will have so much fun with the new track arrangement. Time well spent. Regards, Stephen.
Hi John, well done, great work and with a short to find too!🤯🤬. I can’t wait to to have four tracks down and four trains running, hoping to make a start this week! Cheers for now John, John
Thanks John. It won't be long John before youve got all your lines laid. Seeing your video the other day, it looked very good. I know you said it was a test, but will look forward to your progress.
Amazing transformation in the way you can run your layout, hopefully the clean run round the back gives you trouble free running as a bonus, an excellent start to your modelling year.
Thanks Philip, and yes generally the new lines have been ok. The pacers do find issues so trying to sort them asap after and incident. I dont know why I didnt see this before now. Oh well. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Love the update, John. Will have to go back and see your previous video. If it's like all of the videos we have viewed in the last three years , we won't be disappointed. Happy New Year from across the pond, Bill and Janet from California.
Thanks Bill, the previous video showed what I did last year and plans for this year. The station approach is next, then Glossop. I threw out the idea of making the layout four tracks and so many people thought it was a good idea, so this time last week I set to work. Still more to do clearly, but least trains running. I’m in testing phase now, looking for issues.
Definitely, I really do want to start using Piccadilly station so much more this year, these extra lines will certainly help with that. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Hi John, Its great you are using your time off to such good effect so well done its nice that your troublsome points over the years are now history bring on the running like in this. Cheers Robert.
Well maybe.. I just think 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'. I am one to push the boundaries and see what can be achieved. I don't know why I did think of it before now. So glad Ive done, and seeing 4 trains running was a revelation. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Hi John , excellent bit of track reconfiguration. Removing the points under the tunnels and hillsides will make life a whole lot easier. Great seeing 4 trains running simultaneously along the back of the layout. Very sensible to leave the scenery off for a while to check all is well with the track. Cheers Euan
Thanks Euan, I wonder why I didnt think of it sooner. So glad Ive done it. Strangely the existing parts of the track around Piccadilly station throwing up issues. Never had so many trains through there.
A great video! It really shows how you planned out the project, and carried out its execution with four trains all running round, and once again all in a relatively short space of time. Happy new year, and great video to start the new year off!
Thanks Keith, TBH I have a rough idea how things should go, but I dont sit down and do lots of drawings etc etc, its not me Im afraid. I prefer to be hands on and alter things by seeing the items in front me. We all do things differently, and thats ok, as long as we get to where we hope to.
Hi John happy new year to you. Exciting times, 4 tracks very good. Glad you didn't have too many issues and you can crack on. Looks great with the trains running cheers Andy
Thanks Andy, HNY to you also my friend. The new section is running very well only minor issues. However, the station throat is where it’s all happening, stop, stop start stop. I’ve decided to replace all the remaining insulfrogs and make sure I use a frog juicer on every point. Why didn’t I do this sooner, lol
I think I've seen the area go through three other re-orderings, but John you have done it this time, what a transformation. Putting the Picadilly back into Manchester? Not sure about that, but somehow the four tracks have really made the layout. Now you've done this it seems so obvious, but it really goes to show how years of experiment and planning have borne fruit. You will be having a great 2025 with this major rethink.
Thank you Chazzy, you are so right, I never saw it, thought about it for years. Only in the past, but so glad I did it. I'll be ironing out potential issues for a short time yet. Strangley, as trains only went through 13/14 every now and again, that's now throwing up issues. Ive replaced a point there today too. Thank you for watching and taking the time to watch.
@@piccadillymodelrailways I hate 'throwing up' but I see what you mean. Always fun to see your layout. I expect it will be representing a section of heritage railway in an Underground setting, possibly in France in a few years, or not!
Bless you, so glad you liked it. I do wish I had a 60' layout for N gauge layout, that would be huge fun. So far the running is generally better, but few minor issues, easily sorted. Strange thing is the track around Piccadily is showing issues. I replaced a point there just today. Thank you for watching.
Really good to see four trains running John. It must have been annoying to get the short especially as it takes some finding, but thank heavens you did. I did think you were testing the modelling gods by saying so far no issues, and sure enough the Class 90 shed its train. These things must be said sotto voce, if at all and with both fingers crossed. If you do that they can't hear apparently. I did like to be reminded also of the great street scene at what would be the back of Piccadilly. It really looked good. Stephen
Lol, well it was something, not sure about modelling gods. Just filmed the shot over the station, and just noticed the 90, which explains why it shunted the rest of the train causing major derailment. Lol. You can't make it up can you? Ill get the black tac out, till I can replace the couplings. So glad it works though, but existing track around the station throws up a few issues. Hopefully with through trains now I can improve the overall running.
Happy new year John, love your vids but the last two have a weird colour on them, purple and green everywhere? Hopefully it’s not too much of an issue to fix for you on future ones but they are very different to your older ones.
Hi thank you for your support. Sorry you've experienced a strange colour issue. I watch my videos several times during the edit stage and couple of times before upload and again on UA-cam via the phone, ipad and sometimes the TV too and I haven't noticed any colour issues. No-one else has mentioned it. Have you watched on a different device so you can rule out your device?
@ Iv seeen it on iPad, Apple TV and on Mac so far hence I mentioned it, peculiar, I wonder if it’s an Samsung tv / monitors thing, nothing else Iv watched on UA-cam has the same issue tho. I’m happy to send a screenshot as it does it on my iPhone too so I just grabbed one

Good morning John! Wow! That was a tremendous amount of work! It's certainly paid off though, as being able to run four trains simultaneously is an excellent result! Well done Sir! All the best, Ian.
Thanks Ian, yes very glad Ive done it, now having to deal with point stalls at the other end of the layout. We'll get there lol.
Hi John. Great work, a definite improvement. I look forward to the next installment. Pete.
Thanks Peter, really has made a big difference. Also highlighted track failings elsewhere, oh well, lol. Bit at a time.
I thought that I'd done well cleaning my test track and the pickups on my new train! You will have so much fun with the new track arrangement. Time well spent. Regards, Stephen.
Thank you Stephen, itll certainly be a lot of fun. Your train will certainly run so much better having clean pickups and track.
Hi John, well done, great work and with a short to find too!🤯🤬. I can’t wait to to have four tracks down and four trains running, hoping to make a start this week! Cheers for now John, John

I think your courage has paid dividends, John. A lot of train watching enjoyment is upon you. It's great John and well worth the effort!
Thank you Dave, Im so glad Ive done it, and dont know why I didnt do it sooner.
Hey John …. Great job.
Four tracks up and running and looking very good indeed. All the best for 2025
Steve 👍👍👍
Thanks Steve, so glad I’ve done it. Now looking at track unreliabilities at the other end of the layout, lol

Fours trains running, sounds like a great name for a band. Excellent.
Lol, Ill happiliy let you set that one then. Wot u like?
Great upgrade to your layout. It'll seem so much busier now with all that extra traffic !
Definitely, I really do want to start using Piccadilly station so much more this year, these extra lines will certainly help with that. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Hi John,
Its great you are using your time off to such good effect so well done its nice that your troublsome points over the years are now history bring on the running like in this.

Thanks Robert, gld you like it. Wierdly, the points at the station throat end are causing issues now. One at a time...
@@piccadillymodelrailways I am sure you will sort it all part of the fun!!!!!!
4 trains! Let's go ;) Great upgrade - that's the power of youtube!
Certainly is, thank you for watching.
amazed such reworking on a working layout is even possible, never mind that its attempted, very nicely done

Awesome update John!!! Well rebuild! Many thanks for sharing. Cheers Onno.
Thanks Onno, glad you liked it.
Should have called this Making Tracks 4! Looks good, nice track modification to make and hopefully better running as a result.
