I listened for the first time to SUSPENSE back in 1996 and have been addicted to them ever since. Some of them r great stories and I find myself wanting to put my earbuds in and listen to them on Utube rather than watch tv
I use to listen to these as a kid, I’m in my 30’s his stuff is awesome, these old radio shows are so good, it’s the best way to scare your kids without having one curse words every two seconds
This is great! I luv " the rain and darkness", and luv it when they have one of those " emergency broadcast from the radio". I can lusten to this over and over
Same. Its a true classic 📻 I've noticed when Cary says "you'll have us all in hysterics" the actress in the back seat almost laughed but kept it together.
Fantastic story and Cary Grant is just huge in this. I always think of 'Some like it Hot' when I hear Cary Grant and the Tony Curtis character. Great episode top drawer!!!
Man I love these old radio programs! Well before my time unfortunately. I listened to Casa Blanca as well and I believe Bogart was in that, but I can't remember
Today is the *69* year anniversary of when "On A Country Road" was broadcast. 🤓 EDIT- 4:36 P.M.: *finishes episode 36 minutes later* This was the first episode of Suspense that I ever listened to.
These are just the types of scary stories that used to be told and passed around way back during the era when us teens with a lack for other places to hang out,, used to go parking. I can still remember one about the crazy guy and his hook for a hand. I was so scared 😱. Well, being seventeen back then was far different than nowadays. My gosh I’m 74 my birth certificate says, but I still feel like me inside, I don’t know who that old lady is looking back at me;)
very good at generating suspense - it did so at the expense of logic - the husband making one bad decision after another - but that's what it takes to get the main characters into a situation like this one
There’s nothing like a good thriller! You might be interested in this one, “The Odd Lot” and two others listed under “Claude Chabot Presents” right here on YT. Just follow the link here and enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/tjMKxhE-elw/v-deo.html--Claud.
Cathy Lewis played the wife....She played a lot of different radio roles and also was Jane Peterson, My Friend Irma's roommate. Was married to radio writer/producer Elliott Lewis.

"...believed to be armed with a meat cleaver..." Immediately afterward, "This shortcut will save us a lot of time." Famous last words.
Frank McGovern... I know. Lol
That's exactly what I thought. Be sure and forget to check how much gas you have too!
@@erictalkington5674And listen to your wife! Haha😂
Holy cow that was brilliant. Had me snorting with laughter and shivering with terror at the same time.

My Librarian played this for the class in the early 90's and I finally found it!
I didn’t even have to be told the lead male was Cary Grant
I’d know that voice anywhere 😍
Cary Grant, wow- thank you!
Build up build up done! I give this a six. Thank you sir!

This Was Good And Interesting!😁 That ANNOYING!😬😖😫😏 And CRAZY!🤪🤪 WIFE!🙄😏 SMH!😐🤨✌
Listening to this again Halloween classic
TY for the upload, a gripping drama. :-)
Cary Grant is one funny Guy even when he is not trying.. lol
Two hysterical woman? Hmm. someone should have their lights punched out.
Great One!!!
I love these stories, but if it weren't for really stubborn or really stupid characters, these old stories would never have any plot .
This is good for Halloween
such a great story!!!!
Cary Grant I'm so shocked.
My goodness...I am a woman...But that wife is annoying with her hysterical screaming. Do the writers think that this is how all women act?
This was written in the '50s. Women were not always shown in the best light back then.
Classic.
Although I could see the ending coming, this was one hell of a ride 👀😁👻🌌🎧 I love these suspense / supernatural shows
Happy Halloween 🎃
damn ima pick me up some auto lights
This is CREEPY as heck!!!!
Cary Grant? WHAT?
Can someone tell me that sound in the intro? We need it in our own radio play 😭

Anybody know who the lady was? Sounded a little like Agnes Moorhead.
It's Jeanette Nolan.
Jeanette Nolan...she was married to John McIntyre.
Cathy Lewis played the wife....She played a lot of different radio roles and also was Jane Peterson, My Friend Irma's roommate. Was married to radio writer/producer Elliott Lewis.
No wonder the world is the way it is. Parental Guidance advised. Be Warned 😂
