I have a set of them myself mate good set. They have stood up to a bit of pain in the job I do. Another good review Bendict. Sounds like your getting the rain we have had.👍
Must admit I don't much like that style of crimp either (as you would see from a number of my videos wiring up motors where I use a very different style of crimp and crimping tool)
Hi, great video. Thank you-I was looking at this the other day in Lidl and wondering if the tool would be any good for doing bicycle inner and outer cable cutting and crimping 😅
If you mean like these below, it doesn't do them like that but might do themwww.amazon.co.uk/Ferrules-VFENG-Connector-Insulated-Assortment/dp/B06W2GPLHZ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=ferrule&qid=1603806392&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFET0o2VERSQVRUUVomZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAyOTMxNjIxR01WVUo1UVRJWjE1JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNjQ4NjUxQkFHNzE5MEtDMkZFJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

I have more or less the same tool under a different brand - it travels with me everywhere, love it to bits. As you say, the ratchet crimpers are better for that part of the operation but I don't tend to use crimp connectors - it's still old school here with solder on connectors!!! Bargain price, I think mine were about double that but even then I thought I was doing ok because a colleague had just got some with a posh brand name for even more money.
Bought a similar device from Amazon to your Lidl tool but no crimping connectors, so very useful replacing 17 recessed 12v halogens with mains GU10s. Looks similar tool though didn't get a close up of yours, mine also has the cable stopper by the jaws but cost about £14
The wire strippers are the best bit. I don't know if you have either Lidl or Amazon in Uruguay but I will do a review of the other one soon as it comes with an alternative crimper which does a really good job.
Much better crimps out of the ratchet style tools. I'm trying to build up a nice selection of the heat shrink terminals, check them out if you haven't already seen them, the finished job ends up stronger, neater smaller and probably a bit more corrosion resistant.
@@andresilvasophisma I got it from Amazon. The wire stripper is exactly the same. It's the crimper I bought the yellow one for. When I get home I will see if I can find the Amazon link.

Yes, just a bit of rain!
Many thanks!
Their back in Lidl at the moment. I bought one today. Cheers Ben!
No worries! The stripper is very good.

Hi Benedict are any of your crimpers able to crimp ferrules? Thanks for the video.
Many thanks for watching. I have no idea. What had you in mind? Got a link to the sort of ferrules in mind?
@@BensWorkshop I was thinking about eg, the ferrules on the wires when connecting a 13 amp mains plug.

I also bought a different one from Amazon because it came with a very special crimper which can fo spade connectors really well.
This clamp - pliers looks very interesting. I have a very old one, which when I see this one, makes me think that I should change it

I haven't seen the heat shrink terminals of which you speak though I do like the ratchet crimper. However I also like that wire stripper lots.
Good video mate. Looks like it’s up to the task
