Hello, thank you for the video. I have Silver Dollar and Baby Blue eucalyptus in 5 gallon pots. I grow these plants as a hobby and occasionally sell the stems, but mostly give away as gifts. They are only 1 and 2 year old and I would like to see them to grow to their potential . Can I use this method for both varieties in pots? Langley, B.C. Canada
I live in south of Virginia two minutes from North Carolina.I bought a Silver-leaved Mountain Gum Eucalyptus, but don't know how to take care of it,water it, etc. Please could you give me some information to keep it growing.
I have a Eucalyptus Silver dollar 7-8' in pot but its bent over(leaning bad), can I cut it back a few feet so it will grow a more straight trunk? and if so when should I do it?
We bought a house and the eucalyptus is out of control...can i just hack it back to the root? I will have to use a saw they are so big. it was in a garden that was neglected for years! thanks for the help and advice
I live in US zone 8a I would prune every year around March? (spring when it starts to warm) past last frost? i just bought me a baby eucalyptus and want to keep it in a massive pot as a 4ft, 5ft bonsai tree
@@MrWilliamgottelier I'm in SE New Mexico, on the high desert. Plants that survive here begin to grow in late February. Just moved here this Feb. and I can see that if water hits a plant at all it will start to grow. Then sometimes a hard freeze will occur and kill back new growth. Would love to try this eucalyptus and technique just wondering if it will survive some of our extremes in weather.
Is the word and term - Coppicing only for Eucaliptus or a group of plants with Lignotubers? Or is this a general term used for deep pruning. What time of year are you doing your deep pruning and what is the weather like then. How cold do you get in the winter? Thanks so much for your content. I much appreciate learning from you. - Martie K
What a waste! I use the leaves to make essential oil. You can use the oil for lots of benefits including Mosquito Repellent. Clear Stuffy Nose. Ease Arthritis Pain. Post-Surgery Painkiller. Calm Pre-Op Nerves. Polish Off Plaque. Chew Away Dental Problems. Endless uses… ❤
Wouldn't putting this plant in the compost be bad for the insect and other "bug" and microbe community. I have always know eucalyptus to deter insects such as flies 🪰 and mosquitoes 🦟
prune from 18th March in uk

Thank you for this video. I love this plant very much. My question is: what is the lowest temperature it can survive ?
Mine grows in England outdoors and have no problem at all.

Can the cuttings be propagated?
I have read that they can be rooted, but I’ve not done it myself.

What happens if you don't prune it once a year?
They will just get growing and become very tall. 😂 mine is over 2 meters now.
Please tell me what kind of eucalyptus is it?
Amazing! Thanks for this video!

Does it grows in tropical places?
So, if I'm planting in the northern hemisphere my pruning time would be March or April, right? As our seasons are reversed?
feb - march, ideally before the growing season starts depending on where you are. :)
