The 1965 Rightous Brothers cover of this song will always be the standard but Home Free went back the the 1955 origin. This song was a song in a 1955 prison movie called UNCHAINED. It was about a prisoner who was deciding whether to escape and be on the run with his family or serve his time before returning to his family. The song was describing his Lonnie’s and hoping his wife would wait for him. I think Home Free do wop style captured the essence of the original intent. It is nice to see reactions with your smiling face to Home Free. Have a blessed night
Yaaay! The sneaky rewind grin is back! I've missed it! Home Free knows exactly which songs can be messed with, and which ones to just add a bit of their own flavor to. If you're of a mind to stick with some Doo Wop flavor, Tim has absolutely nailed all 3 of his releases. Come Go With Me, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay, and In My Room. And Austin recently released a new version of Bring Him Home that is killer! In any case, I'm glad to see you back and I hope you're doing as well as you can with your injuries! I feel your pain! ❤
I love your thought process! Have you heard any of Tim's recently released Doo-Wop album "Pieces of Me"? He shows out with that 5- octave range by doing all the parts and it is FABULOUS!
What a terrific reaction, someone mentioned that in the movie one of the prisoners stood at the cell door twisting his ring as Adam did. Home Free puts so much thought into the visuals that accompany their gorgeous harmonies. Thanks again for the reaction. I am hoping that Tim releases his video of "Duke of Earl" soon.
I had The Righteous Brothers cover of this either on a 8 track or cassette. Been to many yrs ago to remember. I was & still am a fan. I also have a brother that was a teen in the 50's. I loved the way Home Free did this song.
You are correct.... never question HF. Home Free is so good at covering a song, keeping the original, but also doing 'the damn thing'! LOVE your reactions, as always. Thank you!!
If you’re Home Free do whatever the hell you want. Yeah that pretty much sums it up for me. I’ll always love the original, but HF paid so much respect to the original that you really have to respect them for that. Nice to see you having some fun Mr. D. 🔥😁
Wasn't this just magnificent?! Only Home Free can lift your heart in joy with the beauty of their music and then tear out your heart, throw it in the street and run over it with a truck. The music was sublime and I actually love this more than the original. The video itself was heart wrenching. The original and Home Frees' version are two totally different experiences and can be appreciated as such.
The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family. The song focuses on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".
I remember saying to a friend that singers just need to stop doing covers of Unchained Melody because it has been covered a gazillion times. Then Home Free did this doo wop rendition and they have also proved me wrong. They never cease to amaze me on their amazing vocal abilities as well as their talents in transforming songs into fresh works of art.
Lol I love the little not and acknowledgement he gives when Tim goes from bass to falsetto tenor in less than a second... is the only reactor I have seen even acknowledge it
I've missed your "I'm backing it up face"! Glad you're back. You might want to check out Tim's solo Doo-Wop song, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay. Get your face ready. 😉
Well, Austin did do his own rendition of this song, with Steven Martinez on guitar, and it sounded just as fantastic. I'm still amused that the two video dropped exactly 13 months apart; January 14, 2021 & February 14, 2022
Your reactions to these guys are always welcome. If you didn't know, Austin and Tim have both done solo covers of this very song. Seeing how much you love this group, might be worth a look. Gotta say I've loved your reactions I've seen.
I’m so happy to see you! I truly respect your insight and observations. Agreed that I love HF rendition without comparing others. I think Tim beginning added some warmth, and then Austin wrapped it up. And the whole arrangement was stunning.
4:16...your face, your nod, your GRIN!!! 😁 And, then, rewind a bit, NO APOLOGIES!!! This is why I adore you!!! Especially when you are reacting to Home Free!!! ❤️
I have waited for your reaction! I agree, I thought Tim took it back to the original movie, UNCHAINED! TIM WAS AWESOME!!! AND, OF COURSE, AUSTIN WAS HIS USUAL HIGH TENOR SELF! This song was MAGNIFICIENT! Thank you so much for covering it. I am always interested in what you have to say!
You are sooooo right "never question Home Free". And I also never doubt a great reaction from you with Home Free! 😉😉 I agree that you'd LOVE Tim's new doo-wop album. There's only 3 released videos of 12 tracks thus far. I believe "will you still love me tomorrow/stay" will give you the biggest surprise & joy. And hopefully that Lil smile & rewind you do that I adore! 🥰🥰
I have been waiting for your reaction!!!!! They did such a beautiful job and did a great job honoring the original. There are songs that you don’t step outside the box too far on and they always know where those lines are. Great reaction as always!
Love your attitude that Home Free can do whatever they want! So far they’ve showed a wide range of styles, all so well performed. Love them. Love your reactions!
The Rightous Brothers will always be my #1 cover. Was my husbands and my song. Then Austin Brown covered it as a solo song and man o man he blew me away and had me in tears. If you have not heard it yet, treat yourself. Then Home Free comes along and knocks it out of the park and into my #3 cover of this song. Love your reactions.
Great to see you again, I have been here to see you for a while. Yes, this was great, as we do expect from Home Free, never a bad song !!! Have you listened to Austins cover of "Unchained Melody"? If not please do, he released it about a year ago and last I noticed he had over 8 million views. I grew up with that song and it is a great one, but Austin for sure does it justice and maybe a little more. Always enjoy your reactions !!
Always love your reactions! Watching your joy during the song is such fun! It was wonderful and they did it once again! They try so hard and usually always succeed to respect the song, bring it to another level and we are so blessed! Take care.
Yes Home Free did the dam thing lol. And you sir do the dam thing very well. Love your analysis of this classic and the differences between the two...but you can still appreciate their absolute subtle changes....Harmonies were gorgeous and I personally loved Tim's bass at the start...and agree Austin is an outstanding vocalist. Love Home Free.
Home Free's covers are always fantastic. The guys always manage the fine line of not bastardizing a song and still giving each song their own touch. Great reaction!
I hope you're feeling better! I've missed that mischievous grin as you rewind the video!!! Great to see you sir. Thanks for another great reaction and as usual, I concur. 😁
LOL…You always make me smile when you talk about Home Free, because you always speak the truth about those Super Talented guys❤️🥰‼️. Thank You for that my friend 👍🙃❤️‼️
thank you, for your reaction. I watched lots of reactions to this video and I can't tell you how many miss Tim's run from down low up to his falsetto and then back down to the hmm hmm. So I was particularly pleased when you replayed that part. Austin was perfect. He really shines in these types of songs,
Man, spot on again. Rightous Brothers cover is the standard. But when you can keep that standard, bring in the original movie feels, then Home Fry it, man, i'm in awe. I do not know who arranged this version (could be Darren or Tim), but fantastic job. Killer arrangement...spot on execution...perfect amount of percussion. Does not get any better than this.
Goose bumps again, not sure if it's from Home Free or that Cheshire Cat grin! I agreed with everyone else here who says how good it is to see Syde'a'fryes enjoy the guys doing their thing
This is the best COVER I’ve heard. So I agree with you it was really beautiful. They did the damn thing! Great review/reaction. And keep the *click* *click* at the end of the video it it shows your fun side!
Define "original form" of this song. I, for one, didn't know this was from a 1950's prison movie until I wondered where they came up with this concept and why the words suddenly had a deeper and different meaning. I thought this went back only to the Everly Brothers and was just another love song of longing.
You are an awesome young person. Don't let anyone tell you how to react. I am looking for honest reactions, and not every fav song of mine will be yours also. Gotta have a thick hide if you tell the truth. Don't give up, and for sure, keep it real. luvs...
@DramaSydETV The vocals are on point, as expected with Home Free, but it's the attention to detail in their videos that boggles my mind sometimes. Chance's bruised cheek, Adam's black eye, him standing at the bars twisting his wedding ring, his shadows on the wall as Austin sings, etc. The black & white / cold look of the setting. It's brings the sense of loneliness and longing to a visceral level. Keeping with the original intent and time period is perfect as, unlike today, the singer has to send a letter home and await an answer while (their prison/jail) time goes by so slowly / a long, lonely time - Are you still mine? I'll be coming home...wait for me. 💔 Austin's last notes, almost a groaning/yearning...then keeping it real with that last chord. *sighs* Sheer perfection for the ears...and heart. If you haven't heard Austin's new "Bring Him Home", you're seriously missing out! It's STUNNING. It's on his channel, not Home Free's. Thanks for doing what you do! I've always loved your honest reactions. I sure hope you start feeling better soon. Been there, done that and hate the thought of you being in that kind of pain. I picked something up once and managed to rip my rotator cuff and bicep away from my humerus in one fell swoop! Took 2 years to be able to use that arm and pain to subside fully. Ugh!
The Original song was written and sung in a 1955 movie called Unchained. The Righteous Brothers covered this song in 1965. So if you go hear the original song and compare Home Free did a combination of both versions. Love the Righteous Brothers cover and I really like Home Frees cover. They're different one has instruments and the other A Capella.. Always love your reactions keep those Home Free covers coming. Tim Wrote a song Called Good Ole Country Harmony. It's cool song
Such powerful visuals and a remarkable version of the song ❤️ I know it hearkens back to the mid-century movie and they portray it spectacularly, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❤️🎼🥰🎶❤️
I think I understand what you're saying. The original The Sound of Silence sung by Simon and Garfunkel will always be the classic for me. I love Disturbed's version because it matches the lyrics. I recently heard a new version by The Hound and the Fox (feat. Adam Chance). I like that version, too. It's a slower pace. There's no reason to reject other covers of this song.... I use this as an example since I'm not familiar with the original song of this Home Free's version.
You must listen to Tim's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Stay from pieces of me album there are three videos out but I like this one for the range he shows off
Perhaps the best way to put it is that I don't like it *better* than the original (which if you're talking the Righteous Brothers isn't actually the original but is the definitive version) but I like it *different*. I like them for different reasons because they have a different sound. Bobby Hatfield was an amazing tenor and sent the song soaring at the end. The home free version seems more introspective and longing, and has more build up starting with Tim and then handing off to Austin. You can't really compare them because although it's the same lyrics and melody, it's not really the same song... I love the nods to the original version in the movie. It adds context.
Well, The Righteous Brothers' version was a cover so I call it fair game to think this is the better version, no matter what your thoughts about original vs cover. I know I think it is. The Righteous Brothers paved the way setting the tone of the "waves", bringing the song to life, but to me it's too much of the waves and it takes away from the actual soul and meaning of the lyrics. Austin's solo versión as well as this has the perfect "waves" to me. Tim starting it out low, and yet with so much flow and flexibility, was exactly what I never knew I was missing with this song, it adds a somberness before Austin moves it into passion. I don't believe in thinking the first was the best just because it was the first, that to me is ignorance and living in the past. Appreciating the original for what it is is one thing, but the idea that we SHOULD like it the best just because it's the original just doesn't make sense and it actually keeps us stuck in the past, and when we're stuck in the past we're stuck in fear. Literally. So I am grateful to The Righteous Brothers for giving this song the life it needed, and for the writers who wrote it and the film Unchained that it was written for, but I'm enjoying this rendition, as well as Austin's solo version, more than any other I've heard. But to each their own, right! We're all going to interpret and experience everything differently since we're all uniquely "programmed" simply by our existence. I just wanted to share my view on this original vs cover topic. Thanks for the reaction! 🥰🙏
I so love watching your reaction videos, DramaSydE. You are just so... downright awesome! If/when you get a chance, consider listening to Peter Hollens and Tim Foust singing James Taylor's "You Can Close Your Eyes." Tim arranged it and yep, he does his really low thang... ua-cam.com/video/TATbehpTvr4/v-deo.html
I'm almost at the end of your playlist. As of today, I don't see their cover of Randy Travis' Forever and Ever, Amen yet. I hope you decide to react to that one.
Mr. DramaSyde my name is Jesus the only thing i to say is that i lyke your reactions to home free music and i also would like to say is that you sir are an amazing reactor and god bless you

This is the best COVER I’ve heard. So I agree with you it was really beautiful. They did the damn thing! Great review/reaction.
And keep the *click* *click* at the end of the video it it shows your fun side!
Thank you for a great reaction, I love your thoughts and expressions!
What some people don’t realise is that what they think of as original or classic are themselves covers.
Thank you Drama, timeless song like you're reactions honest and true 👍. Have a blessed day 👍💕👍
Thanks for a great review and it is great to see you smiling!

Austin's last notes, almost a groaning/yearning...then keeping it real with that last chord.
You need to react to Austin Brown sing "Bring Him Home". It is a MASTERPIECE.
The Original song was written and sung in a 1955 movie called Unchained. The Righteous Brothers covered this song in 1965. Love your review! Thanks for covering this song.
I love these boys so much!! Their talent is unmatched! Please listen to Tim's new work! PIECES OF ME!! You will not believe what you're hearing!

He has already reacted to Austin’s solo cover of this song. It’s on his other channel.
Mr. DramaSyde my name is Jesus the only thing i to say is that i lyke your reactions to home free music and i also would like to say is that you sir are an amazing reactor and god bless you
