    I pulled a neck muscle while doing inverted pull rows. I knew it was due to my bad neck posture (working in front of a computer most of the day) and I remembered your videos have helped me many times in the past with different issues. I felt an immediate relief even after just 2 mins of the Static Extension Position e-cise. Getting back into alignment reduced the pain of the pull tremendously. Thank you for providing these videos. I have read most of Egoscue's books but the routines provided usually require 20 or more mins per day, and I am not that consistent, so these quick sets of 3 best exercises for each problem are really invaluable.

      Sorry to hear about the pull but so glad the routine helped! And understand that it's not just addressing the pain. It's addressing the reason FOR the pain. Do it before you lift and your neck will be in a more functional position for the workout, and you'll get better results. Inverted Pulls are a terrific exercise, but if your thoracic spine is excessively flexed, the work will shift to where you don't want it, and you won't work both sides of your body evenly. Thanks for the comment!

      @@AlignPainSolutions Thank you so much, feeling much better already and I'm doing these exercises daily. Good point, I think that I do over-flex my thoracic spine when doing inverted pull-ups! I will be more mindful of this and do the neck exercises before lifting 🙏🏽

    I have an herniated disc in my neck - C6/C7 on my left side. Can I still do these exercises?

    • @AlignPainSolutions
      @AlignPainSolutions  2 роки тому +3

      Absolutely, yes. These exercises address the reason WHY you have the herniation. The position of your spine (your posture) is unevenly compressing that segment of your spine and that is pushing the disc out of position. These exercises are designed to restore a more neutral spinal position and take load off that part of your neck.

      Thank you. I will try them out. Are there any other exercises that are good for the neck?

      @@steinarlien6184 Sure, there are a lot of options out there. From our perspective the key to resolving neck pain is to determine what position the body is in and what that's doing to the position of the neck, then go fix THAT. Most "neck exercises" treat the neck as if it's the culprit, when in most cases it's the victim. But just like the rest of the body, the more ways you can move your neck that don't create a pain response, the better.
