I used to watch this in the 90s. I don’t understand why Shane has such a problem with Angel doing modelling, she enjoys it, and makes money too. Does it matter as long as it makes their lives more comfortable. Shane could always better himself in some way career wise.
"Its not like we're never gonna see.her again" But I don't think they ever did see her again, she didnt even turn up for the wedding or Shane's funeral if I remember right ?
@@godjenta66 yeah I wonder if it was cause they couldn't get the actress that played his mum to return as I remember it being said they wanted the character that played nick to return but they couldn't get him as he was filming something else
Shane could be silly but many men think they should provide. And women who earn more eventually get tired of it no matter how much they loved the man. They will talk down to him or say it grates on them and he should do more. It's not about gold digging, eventually life and bills show you. This was a discussion many couples have. It's not misogyny. They were a cute couple, no one could guess they didn't like each other off screen. The actress seems a bit full of herself and arrogant which the character can be
This storyline was so misogynistic and nauseating. The overbearing mother guilting poor Angel into worrying about emasculating her poor precious baby Shane, instead of supporting a bright industrious young girl who frankly was too good for her boy.
It's normal for the man to be the breadwinner, so the woman can be the full time mother with the children. Shane feels like he is not fulfilling his duty.
@@tsensuke5259 'normal'..for the time period? For the nation's culture? For the class bracket? For that specific fictional family? It's such a subjective term, difficult to extrapolate to a general audience. What seems normal and good to you in this scene seems abnormal and repellent to me. And why does it matter so much to be 'normal'? Surely, an it harm none, it's better to be authentic?
@@pendafen7405 This is the result of millions of years of evolution and it is normal for all societies around the world, including our great ape relatives. Children prefer the mother's touch and for her to stay with them while the man goes out to provide. A woke fad cannot reverse this evolutionary construct just because some feminists think they're so smart to take issue with it. It causes great damage to the children's development and the fabric of society. Women make wonderful stay-at-home mothers because they have the love, care and warmth that men aren't so good at. Do what you are best at, for the children's sake.

Yes, that is right. She was mentioned being there for Shane's funeral, but we never saw her.

Nick and Ros showed up for the funeral off-screen
Shane's mum wasn't at his and Angels wedding cause Nick got sick or injured overseas and she was with him.
