I’ve just purchased all the components to do this to my MN Triton And This video will certainly be very handy when I go to install it on the weekend ! Thank you for the great detail you go to explaining each step.
Hey Rob, How did the install go? Did you need to buy any extra wiring harnesses or anything? Patch lead link is not available when i click it. little bit confused looking to do this.
NIce work man. Just found your channel recently and really appreciate your concise and clear instructions. Not to mention your effort in editing etc. The production quality is top notch, but I don't feel ike I'm watching an advert ;)
I am trying to install the relocation panel and the screws that come out of the trip computer do not fit the mounting holes on the aerpro relocation panel? Anyone else experience this?
Gday SMR I know its and older clip and thread, but I only just got around to doing the upgrade to my 2013 PB Challenger Thanx it helped a fair bit, My stereo is a Kenwood with Apple Car play and Android Auto. I got 2 Aerpro wire kits, one was for the stereo the other was for steering wheel controls In addition I have a Google PIXEL3 Android phone and didnt realise until I installed the unit and nobody told me either, that it doesnt function until you connect the hand brake to the stereo. "Handbrake you say" yep the friken handbrake is an Android Auto safety feature. You can just ground the stereo wire out of the unit but smart versions of Android Auto recognise this or recognise it doesn't go on/off and stop functioning So the long light green cable that comes with these stereos that I just "threw on the back seat like you" LOL is connected to the back of the stereo with a bullet connector, I then ran the wire under the center console to the handbrake, ON the handbrake is a pin similar to a nail when its up the pressure pad under the pin turns on the park brake light on your dash, when its down it pushes the pressure pad and the park brake light goes off Its a single yellow wire attached to your handbrake switch and the set up has a simple spade connector. All I did was buy a 2-1 (piggy back spade connector ... cheap at any auto shop) and crimped it to the green wire, plugged it into the handbrake spade connector and the existing yellow wire into the second spade. This opened up a whole new bunch of options and menus on my stereo Now I can connect both Apple and Android phones to my Stereo. I hope this helps somebody
I have sony xav ax5500 in an MN triton 2014 not sure where I went wrong I had all the recommended wirings installed but still I couldn’t get the steering wheel controls to work on the head unit
Good day, is there anyone you can recommend in South Africa. People I have spoke to can only remove the information screen on top and put a bigger radio. They cannot relocate the the information panel to where the small radio was.
I'm about to install a newer model head unit on an MN Triton. Where abouts did you route the microphone to? Curious to know what the best and easiest location would be.
Hey mate, loved the vid. Just about to run this on my 2011 GLXR MN. Link for patch lead no working? Do i need anything else or do i just need to buy the double din sony and facia kit? Little bit confused by the harness you used towards the end. Thanks
Hi mate, here is a link to check for the patch leads you need, 1 is for the Triton to Sony and the other is for the steering wheel control, you will just need to find one that suit your model. www.supercheapauto.com.au/in-car-tech/installation-accessories/harnesses?vid=%2BNAuyz6T1X1vkCDYcc4TRg%3D%3D
How would it go with a 2014 gls with factory hands free (also the trip computer is on top of the radio as it had a double din from factory) also would the factory hands free controls not work anymore?
The light green wire I think must be connected to the handbrake switch, to unlock menu options when the car is parked. The Velcro strip tie the USB connector from the radio to the extension USB cable (for not to rattle out/loose). Can you take it one more step further and add a reverse camera to the Sony?
yeah youre right mate, it must be connected to the park brake to work, but i connected it to a ground so it always works, the velcro did end up going on just not in the video! thanks mate 👍
I am doing a coolant change as the dealer never changed mine and i am doing 82,000km. They also never changed my diff oil and transfer case oil. I bought my coolant drained and flushed the radiator, i filled up the radiator with water, replaced the cap and started the engine and left it to run until the engine temp was at operating temp. Then i drained the radiator and saw coolant coming out. Repeated this process a few times. I drained the radiator and filled with coolant but it only took 4L and the service manual says capacity is 8.2L. I am looking for the cylinder block drain plugs but need some help in finding them. Location Of The Cylinder Block Plug 4d56 ?
This is an awesome upgrade, is that head unit still relevant or is there a better one available these days? I have a 2011 GLXR which I'd love to do this to
I've never done anything like this. But it seems you've made a very thorough video, explaining basically everything. I do like that Sony unit. Would you recommend I give it a go? Also, the link to the patch lead doesn't seem to work. Excellent video mate!
Thanks Thomas, the sony unit is very easy to navigate, it's been replaced by a new model but I'm sure it will still be a great unit, the install is fairly easy as its plug and play for most of it.
Hi there. I would really like to install an audio in my car just like you have done in this video. I could see that it is necessary to buy a secondary harness. My car is a 2014 Mistsubishi Triton (In Latin America is known as L200) but is the same you have in the video, (but my car has the steering wheel located at left side of the cabin) I would like you to tell me what is the correct extra harness (part No.) I need to buy in order to do the job. Besides the harness do I need any other accesory? I would really appreciate your advice. Regards from Costa Rica.
Gday mate... bought a used ASX 2015 with existing Sony Double Din audio but the bloke didnt set up the steering wheel controls. Do you think this can be rectified or would they have chopped wires? Thanks.
He may not have installed the steering wheel control, if he did, it may be wired wrong as they normally suit a few different models with the wires in the wrong configuration.
