    i've been folding for a while now, and this is one of the most beautiful models out there, in it's simplicity and elegance.
    thanks Alex, your work is much appreciated (i'm going through your available designs one by one) - design style, logic of your folds, intuitive tutorials... you are awesome!

    These are cute. I folded it with the wrong paper and it was indeed hard to shape. Could you share instructions for gluing tissue paper to elephant hide paper? Thanks!

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  2 роки тому

      Its not very special way to glue that papers together. I just made glue on the elephant hide and layed the tissue on it. While folding you have to wetten only the elephant hide but not the tissue. Because the tissue will brake if it gets wet.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  3 роки тому

      Hey Kiran, with 15cm paper it will be small and tricky to fold. Also normal Kami paper is not that good for shaping that model. I guess it could work but not easy. And I have not tried with 15cm Kami.

      It's kind of a rabit ear variation. You divide the leg in half and bring it down. I'm sry but I can't explain it better with words. The important thing is to get a thin leg down. Maybe you find an own way to do that. ;)

    • @quietmarverick

      I guess it's because I use wet folding paper like elephant hide. You can wet the eye part very less at the end and after drying it holds the shape.

And I am not trying to excuse myself from what I did, but I am also trying to explain myself; I was trying to highlight that your camera wasn't in focus. I hope you can forgive me. Once again. +Pandoener Hey du ;) Ich weiß nicht genau ob es das gibt, aber wenn, ist es vermutlich sau teuer. Ich hab sehr viel Elefantenhaut, weil ich mal eine günstige Großbestellung gemacht habe. Da kostete ein Bogen 70x100cm 1,10€. Wenn du möchtest kann ich dir davon was klein schneiden und zuschicken ;) Ansonsten musst du dich mal im Internet umsehen, ob jemand so kleine Bögen Elefantenhaut verkauft. Dir auch ein frohes neus Jahr!

    On your video, when forming a figurine of owl-origami, starting from the 14th minute, when you make the eyes, and the rest of the silhoette; there is no clear image of the camera; keep the owl at the top? where it is hard ti see, so the quality becomes bad. Part of your origami poet becomes inferior; there is no desire to finish it. I am sorry, but it is true.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  6 років тому +1

      Алёна Маковецкая hey there. You are totally right the quality on the end of the video is bad. I have not noticed it while folding and had no time to film it again. Sry. But I have to say that I saw many people folded my owl from that video and could work with the blurry part. At minute 14 you have finished almost everything. Its just shaping what you have to do from that point. Over that you cn hear what I say in the video and you can see where I fold. So if you use the final picture of the owl you can do the final shaping steps easily. As I said. Many did it. I saw the results. See it as a small challenge. Over that its always good to try variations with the shaping. Sometimes it looks better than the original :) so sry again for bad quality but as many others you can do it. Have a good day!

    • @АлёнаМаковецкая-е4е
      @АлёнаМаковецкая-е4е 6 років тому

      Thank you for your quick response. Grateful with admiration rewies about your video are not alwayse useful to tht author? as if there where not many of them. May be we should listen to the criticism of one person - to make the image of your camera clearer and to the figure within sight of the viewer, and not you loved one; those. Do not take it far when shooting. Love for origami makes you respect the authors - professionals, smart and patient.
      Good day for you, please!

      Delphine LB Hey there! Thanks I'm glad to hear that. Kami isn't good for this model I only use this orange kami paper for showing the folding steps. My owls are folded from tissue glued on elephant hide. You can also use elephant hide and paint one side. You can find elephant hide for example at origami-shop.com. The paper should not be thin. 100-110 gsm are recommended. Hope that helps ;)

    Would a square paper of 14.5 X 14.5 be okay? I like the idea of it being small. Just wondering if 14.5 would be too big?

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 років тому

      ***** You mean 14,5cm? It depends on the thickness of the paper. I would not use 14,5cm kami because I think it will not be nice. 14,5cm elephant hide wet folded should work nice. If you have only thin paper like kami you should use a smaller size like 10cm.

    • @alicea5
      @alicea5 9 років тому

      You can fold it with colored paper yes. But the shaping is hard with soft paper.

    difficulty level please?

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  8 років тому

      +Animaljam Nerd Oh that's hard to say. The folding sequenze isn't that hard. The shaping needs good paper. So it's not an origami beginner model but it's also not impossible to fold with less skills... Hope that helps

    It's easy to follow, but why do you say occasionally: plexus?

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 років тому

      +Róbert Kiss I'm not sure what you make. Maybe it's because of my pronunciation ;) I don't think I use the word "plexus". Can you give me one or two timings in the video where you think I use that word? Maybe the word is "next"? Have a nice day!

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 років тому

      Isaiah Gill It's not that hard but you need good paper and it would be recommended to use wet folding technique.

    I only have one sided origami paper :( I'll miss the color change, but I'm still folding it. Maybe I can color it when i'm done.
    Anyway... subscribed!

      +Origami Made Simple Oh okay. You should try to color one side of your paper ;) Thank you for subscribing. May I ask where do you come from?

  • @alexmulas6766
    @alexmulas6766 4 роки тому

    what!! why did you change to another paper halfway? Make no sense!

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  4 роки тому

      It makes sense. The kami paper at the beginning ist bigger for better explaining. The smaller elephant hide at the end is needed for shaping. You cant explain it well with small elephant hide at the beginning neither you can shape this model well with kami especially not with big kami. So thats why I used two papers.

      It's not easy for origami beginners but not impossible. Some can do it. Some not.
