    I really like how you added the different graphs and related them to being different heads. I think it was an “ah ha” moment for me with understanding these newer downward slope measurements. Please do this more haha

    Well this was another good video lads, two reviewers takes in one video was a nice idea, and it worked fine. Also the unscientific method of having someone shout on you from the other room is actually great because it’s a real world example of how the isolation works and affects you.

    How interesting - I auditioned the original alongside the Celestee, but far and away preferred the Liric, sounds like I’ll really like this one too.

    I do enjoy your reviews, and those of DMS, as you both have largely consistent preferences or requirements. As they tend to differ from mine it does help me pick out what I may like or may not like.
    Case in point is that on my desk for daily drivers I have a post-21 LCD-X and a Liric 1, neither of which I EQ. And I overwhelmingly choose the Liric because it suits my preferences and the vast majority of music that I like.
    From your reviews I think I wouldn't like the changes to the Liric 2, but I am definitely envious of the magnetic pad swapping compared to the fiddly glue changes for the Liric 1!

    The OG Liric had street wearable looks and sounded pretty open, but had to be EQ and had poor macrodynamics. I don't like that these don't look as "normal" and that the upgrade didn't help with the bass. In those ways these are similar to Aeon x Closed that doesn't do much worse for a quarter of the price.

    Doesn't the blue and red markers on the balanced cable destroy the elegant look of the headphones?

    I own the Meze one (disclaimer). DMS mentions the Radiance and Celestee as an alternative. I would argue this is very bad advice for certain genres. If you listen or prefer strong bass in your music the Meze Liric blows ANY focal product out of the water. If you want dynamic and all upper sure the Focal is fine. But that's typically not how ANY live music is ever performed. The dip around 2-4k is perfectly fine for me. I am sensitive to those frequencies and after years of professionally tuning audio systems, there are many people who experience similar effects.
    I haven't heard the Liric 2 but from the Frequency Response diagram Liric 1 definitely has the better tune. I recommend the Liric 1 for any Electronic, Rap, Funk, bass orientated music, even certain Metal/Rock bands.. A Focal would just clip into oblivion.
    Everyone has their preferences, but DMS and Resolve are ALWAYS the opposite of anything strong bass or warm focused. I think the Liric 1 is great for anyone who wants bass/warm tuning, closed back, and still very detailed. I wear these to the gym and get lost in the music.
    Also, DMS grow a pair and buy some contact lenses or get the lazzzzorrrred. QQ over the cups don't maintain suction over glasses.

      @axeltasler8192 6 місяців тому +1

      Exactly my opinion! For club oriented music like Dub Techno the Liric 1 is unbeatable! Intense and dynamic, much more so than any Focal I have heard. The E3 is a different beast tonally. More singer/songwriter, but so much air around the music. I love them both and it's hard to decide.

    • @robovirtuoso1354

      I wouldn't be surprised, as the reviewers in this channel are dead-set on a specific target curve/sound. Deviations from that just don't stand a chance (unless maybe if it's from a friend brand like Focal or DCA lol, then suddenly shortcomings become negligible). What a boring hobby it is if we just pursue the Harman curve. I guess that's just how audiophilia is. I'd rather be someone who enjoys good sound, for whom "coloration" isn't necessarily bad, and graphs don't pre-program my brain about what sounds good.
      But I do get the whole point: There's nothing left to talk about in the reviews/channel without a reference point. At least it's clear to everyone what's the baseline here. Then go from there.

    I was going to buy Lyric 1, but I'm waiting for the release of 2 in Korea. Is there a lot of improvement in 2 compared to 1 and 2? If there is no significant change compared to 1, I'm going to buy 1

    I'm not a fan of the wooden cups in the new model, I feel it ruins the minimalistic look by contrasting too hard. The original Lirics are still much better looking imo but realistically I'd still buy the IIs since they sound better (if I could even afford them in the first place)

    • @PantsaBear
      @PantsaBear 10 місяців тому

      audio technica wp900. Lot of bass, very punchy, fun to listen. Just enough clarity. But a bit too expensive for what they do IMO. If you can find it for 400 $ or less, give it a try.

    So basically, everyone out there is saying these headphones rock-they’re top-notch closed-backs. But then we’ve got our pals Resolve and DMS, who are like, ‘Nah, not impressed.’ And they say it with such an attitude that it really gets you thinking. All those other reviewers-Headphonia, headphonics, Joshua Valour, Currawong, Wavetheory, Bloom Audio, Acho Reviews, TylersEclectic, GadgetryTech, TheTechne, TSAVDG, MajorHifi, and Audio46? Yeah, they’re all off the mark, according to our good friends here. Good work!!!

    I use a Liric on the go that I got used for €1000 last year.
    I don't like the headphone out of my desktop amp/dac (bloated bass, 10 kHz really sharp), but strangely straight out of my smartphone's headphone jack it actually sounds very nice. Bass and treble both get reduced, presumably due to a lack of power.
    So my Liric conclusion: just use crap source lol

    After Resolve and DMS's description, looks like the Liric II is still marginally better than Celestee. In this case, it still can't justify as a 2000 closed back. Especially compare to DCA E3. I will pass this one and wait the new Stellia.

    • @PantsaBear
      @PantsaBear 10 місяців тому +1

      I actually really love my Celestee more than more expensive stuff. This may sound weird, but I LOVE that it has no soundstage and it all sounds like its in my head with that great noise isolation. Pair that with that interesting balanced but still pretty punchy frequency response, and theres nothing on the market remotely like it at any price

    Mostly great review. Think theres enough info there for me to come to my own conclusion if I wanna give these a try (I do).
    But idk why theres such language passing off opinion as fact, especially when we're talking about a clearly competently well-constructed headphone. Its not "almost a good headphone", its "a good headphone if you're looking for _______". Feels unnecessarily elitist to say otherwise...
    Im speaking as someone who owns an Empyrean 2 and while I do very much enjoy it, it's not this crazy cant-miss headphone at $3000 (or at least, no more cant-miss than the Empy 1 or Elite). Its just a different flavor of sound
