Thank you for all that you do. ❤ I feel like my Gift is parenting... or maybe it is several Gifts, which are all important in parenting (patience, listening, encouragement, explaining/teaching. I also enjoy hugs, reading aloud and make delicious food lol.) This is very niche, but as an autistic adult, i think i am particularly good at parenting my neurodivergent children, as we have similar ways of thinking, making it easier for me to explain things to them. None of them are diagnosed as yet, but all three exhibit traits. I feel like raising the next generation of compassionate, justice-driven, class-conscious, open-minded people is really important. It isn't for everyone, but I find it joyful and rewarding. 🙏🏼 I never feel as competent, confident and fulfilled as when i am parenting. However, due to financial circumstances, I have to work as well... And due to autoimmune diseases (Psoriasis/Psoriatic Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis), all of which cause fatigue and pain, I do not have the time or energy I would really like to invest in my children, and it truly breaks my heart. 💔 I do all i can for/with them, but I dream of the parent (and person) I could be outside of capitalism. Maybe not many people like your videos, but I'm glad they exist. I'm not a spiritual person, but your work has opened me up more to a new approach towards familiar topics, without trying to sell me on a specific religion, deity or belief. They let me consider the idea that western science isn't the only right way to look at things. Which isn't to say that I've suddenly turned to homeopathy and woo or whatever, I still don't believe in ghosts or higher powers, but I've become more accepting towards my "irrational" feelings and started seeing value in them. It wasn't just your videos of course, but they're like a little safe space where I can consider these thoughts without feeling pushed in a direction. I really hope your work gains more attention so you can keep doing it, and in the way you want. I do try to share your stuff but in my circles, few people want to engage with this kind of thing, and they find superficial reasons not to. I think a lot of them assume that you can either be pro spirituality or pro science, just like I did for most of my life.

I felt any person or creature, down to the ant or the blade of grass, had more of a right to be here than I had. I thought there was nature on one side, good, harmonious and beautiful, and humans and the other side, evil, destructive and ugly. And among them, lower still, little worthless me. I spent a lot of time in nature. And one day, I realized I am not separate from nature. I am nature. We are nature. We are expressions of its amazing creativity. We are children of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. And maybe, through our individual minds and eyes, we are a means for nature to become conscious of itself. Il lik to think that our gifts and desires contribute to her unending creativity and expansion.
Modern society, industry, and communication has made is possible for people to excel and share their gifts on a scale unheard of before but at the same time we lost so much when everything became connected. People used to be born into their crafts or gifts so to speak and it was expected that you would likely carry on the family tradition, people bartered more and relied on the individual instead of the collective whole a lot more. It was harder times for sure but i feel like it might have been a more satisfying life. Nowadays its hard to stand out in a world where most people feel replaceable and there's just so many of us. Its discouraging to work so hard at something and know even if your gifted you aren't truly world class, not that its a bad thing as like you said you can still use that gift and give it to others, its just that what people consider a success has changed so much and you have to be a very strong willed person to succeed. Im not that talented at anything and am an introvert and a homebody so i would rather be hidden away and do a little bit of good day in and day out in my boring job. It just seems unless your incredibley talented at something and also lucky it must feel very insurmountable to "make it" if that's your goal.
First time watching your channel after getting the recommendation and ah, what a pleasant surprise! Big fan of the pacing and the overall tone that shines through what you're sharing with us. As someone who's been writing for practically all his life, thinking of the activity/practice as a gift helps put a lot in perspective. It even humbles you when you reflect on it, I think, for you realize that what you bring forth in a grounded, genuine way, will come back to you in an unexpected way. What makes being alive important to me is the atheistic knowledge that the life you have is all you have. So use it. Don't cut it short and try not to squander it.
I mean it’s not even necessarily theistic or not in nature. I’ve met some incredibly driven, intelligent, and talented religious people which have their goals be to make this world a better place for everyone. As an atheist myself, I agree that this is the only chance I have to do anything drives me but reality is more complex than to be condensed to religiosity.
I'm not sure that I believe in this but I wish I could because it's a beautiful idea, it reminds me of a passage of the book "big magic" where the author talks about how her novel idea flew to another author, as if ideas were entities who chose their vessel. I find that my inspiration to cook interesting and nutritious food is stifled when I'm trying to cook for myself, but it feels so easy to decide how to feed others. It doesn't feel like a worthwhile act of service if I'm the only recipient, nourishment should be shared.
You are the weirdest thing... and I can see the awe in my eyes as I imagine myself whispering those words onto the screen... My day was very weird. It started off with some sickness after reading some weird and disgusting news in the newspaper. When the sickness passed, there was a handyman and a couple of interventions by relatives who don't live with me. Then I started watching your video. I couldn't make it past the intro. I thought, 'What is this? Why am I watching this? What is going on?' After many hours and a series of somewhat weird and not so unfortunate events, the day came to a close. I watched a couple of episodes of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, a weirdness I like. I then had another go at your video. As I write this I am still deeply moved and even in some kind of shock from the profound and serious weirdness here. A bit angry too. I don't know why or how, but I thought about a certain phrase in Spanish which is somewhat well known, but I don't know where it comes from. It goes like this: 'Quien no vive para servir, no sirve para vivir'. Somebody rendered into English thus: 'Whoever's purpose is not to serve, serves no purpose'. To make my point clearer: 'Whoever's purpose is not to serve THE GIFT, serves no purpose FOR THE GIFT'. Does that make any sense? For me, your videos have a weird way of becoming, or summoning, as if by witchcraft, the very thing they talk about. I mean that with the utmost respect. And awe. I hope that makes some sense. I cannot become a patron but I have a paid subscription to UA-cam. I read somewhere that they use some of that money to pay content creators. So there you have it, hope it is true.
