Joe has an obvious passion for the blues style. Whether he’s doing faithful recreations isn’t an issue for me. Who else is trying to keep this stuff alive at this level of quality?
Ive never heard him do anyone elses songs that he didnt do better than the original or at least equal. This man is todays best of the best. See what can happen if you practice
Well said, and I also agree wholeheartedly ... This is one of the best Spoonful Covers I've ever heard also. This Band is Fkn' Tight, all of Joe's band ensembles are Incredible !!!
Awesome !!! Joe playing his guitar...Anton whacking his cans.. Michael teasing his bass.. and all those very very talented musicians together.... will see Joe the 2nd time this autumn and can hardly wait... I am so happy there are still true musicians playing real instruments and having fun goddammit !!! :)
In my opinion, one of the greatest guitar players of all time. And he will be only 40 years old on May 8th, 2017. So, we can wait for more, much more.....
Amazingly hot and with a strong gutsy deep sound, the drums greatly help carry the depth of this great track. Bonamassa in his variations is great in his own special way
Why is everyone trashing on joe? He never said he was covering these songs to sound just like muddy waters or howlin wolf. Hes doing it in dedication. Hes making the songs his own. And frankly theyre awesome!!! So stop bashing on joe. You dont like him dont watch the videos
Alan Hamm John fedele - guys I like JB too. He is carrying on the Clapton tradition. He even played some Cream stuff with Jack Bruce a few years back. I think Joe is playing tribute to everybody who has ever attempted this one - and particularly Cream who turned the blues into rock :)
Right on John. I am a blues/rock musician and have always played my own interpretation of any cover song whether it was solo or a full band setting. Much more fun and gratifying and people always dug it. Of course, if the song has a melody, you may want to play that pretty much note-for-note, but even melodies can be played in an original style by using octaves, 3rds, 5ths or playing the melody of song and than play a melody like twinkle twinkle little star over the same change and people love it. People don't think you suck, but actually think you are very talented because many people will improvise on the lead but are afraid to improvise on the melody.
Hard to say why. He's keeping the British blues-rock tradition alive, and is fairly open with guitarists as to how he likes to get the sounds out, so he's helpful to others in that way also. Yeah, on this track he takes off and does his own thing, but when Clapton and Jimi Hendrix did the same thing with covers, no one complained.... Peace.
@@ALBATH12345 I agree totally that was awesome its the blues one song is played different everytime stop trashing Joe B he's an amazing guitarist . Check out Clapton's version of crossroads cream reunion concert see how close it is to the original version it's the blues improvise
His solo here… very very very Claptonish. Almost a homage… And I mean there are licks from every Clapton era like cream, derek & the dominos and solo career… However this doesn't change the fact that Bonammassa is amazing :)
I know this is going to draw some flack but here goes.....To all the detractors, not every African American Blues artist had a voice that sounded like they smoked a hundred cigarettes a day and the reason some of them never played very fast is that they didn't have the tools that we have today, such as expensive guitars, access to the largest archive of blues music ever (most of them were creating it) and if most of them were alive today, I'm sure that their music would have changed with the times. Now, JB, he says more in three notes, than most say in three hundred. I put it to the critics that there might be some professional jealousy involved??? I know I would love to be able to play like that and put that much soul into every note. History will eventually show Joe Bonamassa will survive the critics and join his mentors on an elite list of legends, because he has earned the title.
Awesome Joe. Great vocals..you oughta sing like this always. Hits my soul. And as usual guitar is above all others. Luv ya Joe. I know you love rock and blues rock but Oh calm my soul, you are just so awesome at deep blues.
One of the BEST blues guitarist I've ever heard. Clapton will always be my favorite, but this guy does INSANE riffs! And can there be any better music venue than Red Rocks?
I always listen to this whenever a new JB is issued on UA-cam. It is one of my very favorites! Wow...FABULOUS...hope I see this live at a concert! How about in Dayton, OH in August!!! Love you, Joe!
I love how Joe knows where real talent is. He's not one of those who hire those shitty young players that know nothing about the blues, instead these old masters that nailed every single note they played
I first saw Joe in Southport England in the back room at the Pavilion,he was great that night and has gone on to be one of the greatest guitarist ever up there with Rory Gallagher
